Group stages of the T20 World Cup Qualifier in UAE have now been completed , PNG & Ireland topped the groups so will now join Sri Lanka & Bangladesh in the 1st Group stage of the T20 World Cup.

The remaining 4 spots will be decided after semi finals and cross over play off game best described by looking at the T20 World Cup Qualification Wikipedia page.

Netherlands v UAE - Winner advances , loser plays Scotland for a second chance

Namibia v Oman - Winner advances , loser plays Hong Kong for a second chance

I have posted before but would have loved to see both Hong Kong & PNG involved in the Big Bash or as a minimum CA should invite them to join our one day domestic comp to help their development , the more games these countries have in different conditions should only help them.

Hong Kong has now lost Rath to Indian first class cricket along with Chapman a year or so ago back to New Zealand.

Think one of the PNG players was on the Renegades list a few seasons ago as a development player and Vala was a rookie at the Heat.

Give them a opportunity and who knows what could happen.

Looks like Warner , Labuschagne , Smith & Wade are safe for Brisbane then.

Maddinson is a weird one if he is not going to be opening , not sure who else is putting their hand up though at that spot (Shaun Marsh)

Think the game clashes with Shield Week 4.

Heard Cummins on the radio this morning saying after the T20's he will play Week 4 of the Shield (presumably as will Starc).

I guess the Bowlers are fighting out for the 5th/6th spot behind Cummins , Hazlewood , Patto , Siddle (?) & Starc.

Be interesting if they rotate the fast bowlers again.

Indeed, it would be hard to argue the fast bowler rotation didn’t work, so logically you would expect it to continue. Historically these decisions haven’t always been that logical, but I’m hopeful on this one.

Similarly if they want the T20 side to be close to full strength and stable in the lead up to the home World Cup in 12 months, it may be that players like Warner need to sit out one day series or maybe even parts of Test tours to get a similar break.

I wouldn’t expect them to sit out the IPL given the cash on offer - although in this case some of them may successfully argue that’s a comp they should be playing in if they’re trying to optimize their T20 prep!

Scotland have now also qualified for the T20 World Cup after defeating the UAE.

Oman gain the 6th & final spot for the T20 World Cup.

So Ireland , Namibia , Netherlands , Oman , PNG & Scotland join Bangladesh & Sri Lanka in the first stage.

4 of those teams will join the other 8 ( Afg , Aus , Eng , Ind, NZ , Pak , SA , WI) in the Super 12s stage.

Maxwell has withdrawn from the T20I team to take a "short" break to deal with mental illness issues.

D'Arcy Short named as the replacement player.

Not sure why you replace a middle order player with a opener though ?

This is terrible news. Looks like two separate incidents too. Some of the details looked potentially innocuous, although apparently he deleted some WhatsApp messages, which probably isn’t a good sign.

Sounds very similar to "John" and his initial approaches to Junior & Warne (without money being exchanged).

Whole timing seems odd , a few days ago he was leading a players strike , then was being fined for a illegal contract.

Tamim missing from the Indian tour plus whispers a few others might be involved.

Best all rounder in World Cricket at the moment , will be a massive loss.

Shame, as he is 1 of my favourite players and before noticing the news was about to ask if he had any international commitments potentially preventing him from a Big Bash tenure.

BBL clashes with the BPL , think there board only "allows" them to play in 2 or 3 other T20 tournament , so he plays IPL , CPL (?) and either PSL from memory.

Massive loss to World Cricket , think we are due to tour their for 2 Tests middle of next year.
