Jhye showing some form with the bat now also, 35 not out 39 balls currently - very handy late order hitter.

Cartwright 115 not out
Surely they won't rush Jhye back into the Rest Squad and he runs water all summer.

Boland and Neser can do that.

Unleash Morris against the West Indies.

Let Jhye play BBL then the white ball series against the West Indies and then go to New Zealand

Agree

Would love to see Morris given a chance v the West Indies - perfect opportunity for him to debut.

Jhye I think just plays white ball cricket at international level this season, get a number of games under his belt at shield level this season before getting consideration for test level.

Next Shield game is not until Feb 3 - 6.

Will need to look up when the WI white ball series is.

Hopefully they would include guys like Buckingham , Haskett , Neil-Smith , O'Neill , Perry etc with the Test Squad , just the learning and exposure to Cummins , Hazlewood and Starc would be incredible

Are they intending to announce a Test Squad any time soon ?

Don't tell me after all this time they are debating whether to leave out Warner 😀
100% they are debating it I reckon, they want Green in and MM surely can't be dropped

Only trouble is the options are all somewhat flawed
Bancroft- scores too slowly
Renshaw - out of form
Harris - totally out of form

Then
Marnus - does he move from 3 to open - hopefully not
Smith - could he open and move Green into a 4,5,6 spot with Trav and MM
Head - could he open and Green MM bat 5,6

Personally think Bancroft deserves the opportunity (can't do much more over the last 12-24 months) but if they don't (eventually) bring in a specialist opener to replace Warner , I would much prefer the Head option.

Read those comments that he/Harris may not fit with Khawaja

Head
Khawaja
Labuschagne
Smith
Green
Marsh

They are then just delaying the Bancroft/Harris/Renshaw choice for when Khawaja retires.

Not sure we can put Pucovski in the equation.

Interesting to see how they approach it.

Then opens up Marsh's spot to a McSweeney , Webster possibly or Hardie.

Need some of these 18 - 23 year olds to start banging out big runs when they get the opportunity.

Come 2025/26 Khawaja , Marsh , Smith (home Ashes so possible his farewell series) , Warner will probably all be missing from the Test side.

Be a massive shift in thinking if they did leave Warner out altogether from the Test Squad

I have yet to understand why the opener position is even a debate. Once Warner goes or is pushed it's clearly Bancroft.

Last Test in 2019, has been piling on the Shield runs for a solid two years now - exactly what you want the next tier to be doing, placing pressure on spots.

Harris has done nothing to suggest he is the answer, Renshaw will have his time but not quite yet, and squeezing Green back in moves several players out of position.

Hard to fathom why there's even a question here.
