Kind of silly, has to be 50% below the top of the stumps, the bails height doesn't count. Was definitely 50% below the top of the bails.

Should remove umpires call completely, but guess the tech isn't reliable enough yet.
Ah yes, because if the stumps aren’t knocked over, the bails stay in place 😂

You wonder who comes up with these rules.

And if it is to windy and they remove the bails altogether ?
I would be happy drafting the rules around the 99+% of the time when that isn’t the case!

They could include an exception for that scenario if they wished.

Either way, the bails were in place for the delivery in question.

I'd love to know why the umpire didn't give that out... Hitting back pad on a day 5 pitch.

Taufel tried to explain why they don't use the bails but completely lost me , something to do with a rectangular shape but it has ups and downs , thought it would only relate to the part of the bail that sits in the stump.

I am with Flem though if it is hitting the stump it is out , 50% greater or not.

Very interesting.

If it’s hard to explain, that usually means it’s not a great rule!

It's at the point now where I think Australia have to bowl first in Sydney regardless of conditions.

How often do India survive (or even win) these day five situations? They don't seem troubled at all and this is two batters who are naturally aggressive and playing a situation they almost never need to in the modern game.

Pretty sure the last time Australia bowled India out to win was Perth 2018...

To be fair, Jaiswal has played and missed 107 times and Pant normally gets himself out. But the drop in wickets don't really deteriorate and make it hard.

Lowest batting average for a touring captain in a Test series in Australia (minimum five innings):

6.20 - Rohit Sharma 🇮🇳 (2024/25)

7.75 - Courtney Walsh 🏝️ (1996/97)

8.25 - Ivo Bligh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (1882/83)

9.14 - Arthur Gilligan 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 (1924/25)

9.33 - Dean Elgar 🇿🇦 (2022/23)

Fair effort by Rohit this series 😂
