Will take a points hit to transfer out O’Connor for one of Rydz, Gurney or Hempel.

I’ve back tracked on initial thoughts. Going with Cullen over Wade and Gary Anderson, just because I think he beats Ian White.

Will end up with:
Price, MVG, Anderson, Cullen, King and Rydz for this round

What should I be doing with my side?

Select a player from the top 16 from the 1st Quarter of the draw and I would recommend the reigning champion Gerwyn Price over his fellow countryman Jonny Clayton. No need to trade Wright, MVG or Cullen with the final free transfer used on either Soutar or Rydz.

I would keep Rydz and I am heavily considering grabbing him myself to replace O’Connor as an additional transfer for -4 points. Aspinall‘s throwing arm was heavily strapped and is battling tendonitis per attached article. Luckily for him Murnan is not a power scorer and his sub 99 average was not enough. The format now extends to a best of 7 sets and if Rydz can continue his current form he should be too much for Aspinall.

As for a Soutar replacement, I would be targeting the bottom half of the second quarter. King has reached the semi finals or final of just about all of the big major tournaments and has been ranked within the top 32 for the majority of his PDC career since moving over from the BDO in 2007. Very solid player and his doubling and experience should be too much for his upcoming opponents. Hempel, Smith and Lennon have qualified for either their debut World Championship appearance or do not progress past the second or third round in most ranked tournaments.

White and Gurney also meet the criteria as outside of the top 16 as well as not running into one of your players in the fourth round but both face harder draws to progress to the quarter final stage and White is notorious for not being able to bring his pro tour form onto the big stage.

I assume we now use the 3x Captain option!
Tough call. It seems easier to choose someone who will win two matches at this point, however scoring should be that bit higher in the third gameweek with extra sets (but it will be much tougher to pick those who progress).

If you just want a good overall result, use it now, I would expect whoever wins overall uses it next gameweek, but not certain of that.

Either now or for the final stage of the tournament. Longer set play in the final gameweek (see bold below) will bode well for increased scoring opportunities for 180’s and doubling but a higher possibility of your selection being eliminated due to facing stronger competition. Of the fixtures for this Gameweek, the draw of Price is most favourable. On his day, Huybrechts can easily hang with and defeat the best over an extended format but his doubling especially against Beaton leaves a lot to be desired and his form has tampered off the past few years after being a mainstay in the top 16-24 early to mid last decade. Same goes for the Aubergenius regarding the doubling (Van Duijvenbode) and he has yet to defeat Price on the TV or Pro Tour. Third and Fourth Round= Best of 7 Sets
Quarter Final= Best of 9 Sets
Semi Final= Best of 11 Sets
Final= Best of 13 Sets

With the wide open second quarter it would be best to avoid triple captaining any selections in that quarter of the draw. In the third quarter, our own Damon Heta is up against 2020 World Champion Peter Wright and it doesn’t get any easier for Snakebite in the fourth round against Searle or Noppert. He is also defending his prize money won from the 2020 staging, due to how the ranking system operates on a two year basis which could be a big incentive to reach the latter stages.

Fourth quarter is also comparable to the second quarter and a case could easily be made for any of the eight involved to reach the Quarter Finals. Chisnall and Humphries has the potential to feature 180’s galore and a final set thriller with both capable of toppling Van Gerwen in the fourth round if they are afforded the luxury that Barstow received. Humphries is in search of his third consecutive quarter final appearance whilst Chisnall belongs in the same category with King as one of the best players in PDC history to have never won a major tournament. After losing 27 consecutive matches against Van Gerwen, Chisnall whitewashed him (5-0) at the Quarter Final stage last year (16 minute mark onwards of the below highlights)

Therefore, I would either be using it on Price this round or waiting until we reach the quarter finals and selecting a player you expect to reach the World Championship Final.

Out: Kleermaker
In: Price, King

Price, Wright, Clayton (C), Chisnall, King, Rydz

I can avoid any -4's this week with this line up. I think these 6 are all potentially capable of making the final 8, a few do have tough draws, but happy enough to run with it. Went for a less obvious captain choice as a differential (expecting most will captain Price), hopefully it pays off.

Scored quite well in the first gameweek: 6th in Australia and 3rd in our comp with a 111. Much better than I expected for someone who doesn't really follow darts apart from this topic. I think I had a couple of lucky selections in there.

Good luck to all in this gameweek, just over 30 mins to get any changes made.
