I had a quick look but couldn't see enough to be confident he wouldn't be parked in the forward line at times. Port Adelaide seem to be moving some younger blokes through the middle.

It’s possible Gray had an undisclosed injury or niggle because they seemed to put him in the ball slowly/reluctantly/sparingly. He’s also coming on 32.
If he played more mid time he could be a good pick at his price. Had 6 scores of 65 or below which is either a big red flag, or where the opportunity lies!

Following the departures of Zac Smith and Ryan Abbott, expect Darcy Fort to play more as a genuine ruckman this year. After being plucked out of the SANFL as a mature-age rookie, Fort made an impact as a forward, kicking 23 goals from 13 VFL games then five goals from three AFL games. But expect to see Fort’s 205cm frame at more ruck contests in 2020. Also, Cats assistant Matthew Knights recently told the Geelong Advertiser that small forward James Parsons and small defender Zach Guthrie had “done a lot of midfield work this pre-season”. Sam Menegola is likely to move from an outside role to a genuine on-baller. The trio will be battling it out to replace now-Eagle Tim Kelly.

An interesting one, didn't watch too many Geelong games but under the impression he was "starved of opportunity" especially given they had other ruckmen over the last few years, even stll Rhys Stanley is injury prone as it is. If given a crack at it could he be the R Marshall of 2020? Interested to hear Cats supporters thoughts

Sounds not very positive for Steven. Reconsidering the selection now as it seems he has some fitness concerns

Steven has been away from the main group in the past fortnight, delaying his return to full fitness despite a promising display on the training track before Christmas.
The four-time St Kilda best and fairest contemplated walking away from football last year while battling with his mental health that limited him to seven games for the Saints.
Traded to Geelong in October, Steven immediately set about trimming down after admitting he played overweight late in 2019.
He is set to re-join the main group in coming days and make a push towards playing his first game as a Cat in the Marsh Community Series against Gold Coast on February 22.
Steven is expected to feature predominantly as a forward as he builds his fitness before graduating to greater midfield minutes and o***et the Cats' loss of Tim Kelly

Not a big fan of the Heeney pick. Seems to me like this year isn't much different to the last regarding his role potential. If Horse comes out and states he wants him to move to full-time mid I will sit up and listen. His ceiling is so low. Even if you consider their use of him as a fwd the fact remains plenty of other players hit higher output.
Surprised fewer aren't looking at Walters - Id accept he's priced towards the higher end of his spectrum but his role looks similar/better than last year and his numbers were brilliant. I'd suggest what Walter actually did last year is best case for Heeney this year?

I agree, I'm finding it hard to find a team though I like with Whitfield, Martin and Walters due to dollars and sacrifices on other lines, I can get close to where I want to be with Heeney but like you I feel apart from the ankle injury he carried last season, the role is uncertain. Especially with Buddy down again.

I'll be honest. Not from me. I think apart from the top 4 being Whitfield, Martin, Walters and Heeney (points overall and no injury/games missed) the top 10 forwards are pretty open and there's a heap that could make this category. I'm probably going to hold off and just watch for a few weeks. Outside of the top 4 I don't mind Devon Smith for value and potential if fit but trying to stay away from anyone else.

Wingard seems to offer some value - but whether his ceiling is 90 or not I can't decide right now.
Gresham if he went full time mid is interesting and would be a great breakout pick but can you wait to see first? maybe i think....the fact Butler is coming into the Saints might mean there's the prospect of more mid time for JG but teams probably want to run 2-3 elite smalls if they can and so Butler might just join JG up fwd rather than push him out.
