Judd's best game for Carlton, what do you reckon?

For mine it was the game at SCG about 3 or 4 seasons ago where every other player on ground from both sides seem to struggle but he just excelled winning contested ball after contested ball. Simply in awe of him that night. For West Coast cannot say his best game as did not see enough but a game at Gabba was really special earlier in his career when he relied more on his explosive pace than his contested beast work he did when injuries slowed him down.
That game against Brisbane really burst him into the spotlight, 5 goals in the first half against the best team of that era. But his best game at West Coast, and in his career in my opinion, funnily enough was also against Brisbane. Round 5, 2006 - Leigh Matthews 400th game as coach and the Eagles were without Cousins and Kerr. Safe to say Juddy picks up the slack with 39 disposals (28 contested), 10 clearances, 7 inside 50s, 8 tackles, 4 goals and 234 supercoach points. He had some huge games. Qualifying Final 2006 - head to head with Goodes and notched up 34 disposals (19 contested), 11 clearances, 2 goals and 202 supercoach points. Single-handedly brought them back into the game at half-time. Round 15, 2003 against Carlton was another big day out with 33 disposal (20 contested), 9 clearances, 6 tackles, 3 goals and 214 supercoach points.

Almost forgot just how good he was at the Eagles, but I came across this highlights video yesterday. I doubt a better highlights reel has been created over just a few seasons, absolutely incredible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwTqQd5d154

Stumbled on this today. Our obsession with ranking points is in the hands of this bloke.
Pretty cool i say.

Wow- if they ever had their comms link drop out or a computer crash, then presumably they wouldn't be able to record any stats. I'm surprised it hasn't happened before, although they must have a backup process in case they get some sort of interruption. (that's probably what happened when we get "glitchy" live scores - lol)

May be a different process now, looks pretty old.

I have a question which may seem a bit stupid, but I will ask it anyway as it has been bugging me for a while.
In the Player Profile pages in SC Gold, there is a field called "MVP Value". Does anyone know what this is supposed to represent and how it is calculated? I presume a higher value means something good and a lower value is bad, but I've never really been sure what it is or how to use it.
I would be interested in any thoughts.

Never really looked too closely to be honest. I suspect it is related to value of player in terms of points scored in relation to monetary price they are in the present. Will have a look in my SC account in a moment.

I rhink the lower the value the better. I think it works out that the mvp figure is how many dollars per point average so that the lower the figure the better value.

Trent Dumont is $194,200.
He is averaging 53.75.
Divide $194,200 by 53.75 and you get his MVP as 3,613 dollars per points he averages at present price.

The lower the figure the better value you are getting for your money.

I like the filter there rolling with this year when looking at/for players.
Pretty standard options but makes life easy when trying to eliminated unwanted players in your search.

Very handy but I think there has always been a filter

Just winding back the clock and seeing what going to the footy used to be like in the old days (70-80's). As a mid 90's kid, I am fascinated by how the culture surrounding the game has changed over time. I would definitely have enjoyed the suburban feel a lot more, wish it was still around. Does feel pretty sanitised these days - game is run by men in suits.

It is certainly more different. Facilities better now but a lot of good stuff been lost to centralize everything to be the same.
I feel lucky to have gone to Junction Oval v Fitzroy, Moorabin v St.Kilda, Windy Hill v Essendon.
Treasure those experiences of being at football to see curtain raisers and build up to the main game.

Funny on SEN just been talking about this stuff.
Will read the link later on. Thanks mate.

Add me to that list. Grew up in the country so never got to go to actual games. Still remember watching it on television. You get a tiny bit of the feel going to watch VFL these days I reckon, but it's mostly lost. Becoming too much about the spectacle. And too much U.S. in that spectacle.

Finally clicked on link.
Photos more than article but loved seeing it all.
ha ha. Some funny photos in there. Even funny to see Shane O'Sullivan in photo of Carlton 1979 premiership celebrations on ground near Percy Jones swigging big bottle of champagne moments after the final siren. 36 years later and a few weeks ago we see Shane O'Sullivan in change rooms supporting old coach Malthouse on his last night of coaching. O'Sullivan could certainly tell us some stories. Think he spent time at Bulldogs and Brisbane before coming back to Carlton.

I could be wrong but I reckon this photo shows two Brownlow Medallist smoking cigars after a Melbourne game.
Looks like Brian Wilson and Kelvin Templeton to me. Although it may not be Templeton. Warren Dean maybe ?

I remember hearing stories in the mid 70's of Mick Nolan getting a trainer to smuggle out a bag of Dims Sims to him at a 3/4 time break. I'm not sure how true it was, but it fitted well with Mick's impressive figure. Seeing as his one and only Coach in the VFL was Barassi, he would have risked being strung up by his knackers if he was caught. There was also rumours of a player or two keeping the page from the Record that had the race fields on it tucked into their sock. Back in those days, the race results were always posted on those old mechanical scoreboards, and the players would check how their bets were going, when the ball was at the other end!

lol.. The Mick Nolan story makes me laugh. Probably not far from truth I bet. He was huge First year or two I watched footy he was still playing. I think his nickname was jumping Gasometer or something.

That story of the race field tucked into socks I suspect could be true too. I reckon it was Jimmy Buckley himself, father of Dylan Buckley.
Jimmy and Sellers Maclure and Kenny Sheldon loved their punt from what I heard. There are certainly stories of David Parkin as coach doing his half time player address and missing two or three players and I heard the usual suspects were Mack Maclure or Jimmy Buckley in one of the toilet rooms listening to 3rd or 4th leg of a quaddie on 3UZ.
Parko probably had lots of things go on around him by those rascals that he never knew about. Those guys could probably get away with it because the side was so talented they could turn a game quickly in their famous premierships quarters after half time. They probably only looked for race results on scoreboard and had small bit of newspaper in Jimmy's sock to check on scoreboard the horse number they were on got up.
