So under the assumption that the 10 remaining teams have their bye after round 12, there will be additional trades available for these best of 18 rounds too?
I would assume there would be additional trades able to be used for the week but not additional trades added to the 34.
I'm of the opinion that more additional trades will be offered if this latest announcement is anything to go by, otherwise it doesn't make any sense to offer them now and not later as the playing landscape is the same in both scenario.
I wish that they had added to their announcement something along the line of 'We'll adopt the same measure for RD13 and onwards once the fixture becomes available and bye rounds are known'. That way, everything is out in the open and we all know what's ahead of us for the remainder of the season.

The one disclaimer is that things can change and evolve in a heart beat so I'll give them that for adopting a 'one step at a time' approach.

So there are 3 trades in R9 and 12 but no bye? Or did I miss that.
Yep...Max of 3 trades per round for RD9 to RD12...excerpt from the HS article below as confirmation.

KFC SuperCoaches will also have three trades to use in rounds 9 and 12 to ensure they have the best chance of fielding a full line-up.

Correct. They have justified it based on an expectation of an increase in players being “managed” with the short turnarounds between games

Actually think to their credit that the changes give some chance of keeping teams engaged and reducing the number of ghost ships.

I still remember the first year if multi bye rounds when it wasn’t unusually to have 3 - 5 donuts during the multi-byes and it certainly zaps any enjoyment out of it.

It said best 18 for any round with less than 9 games. That covers future fixtures.

Just catching up on the changed SuperCoach rules for the upcoming rounds now and for whatever it is worth I think they are a good response.
  • I like the 3 trades for each of rounds 9 to 12 rather than just the 2 bye rounds. It will allow for a bit of strategising through this period as well as being able to deal with injuries and rests.
  • I am also glad they increased the total trades which also helps with the flexibility.
I understand the argument form the purists who kept trades in hand to deal with this possibility however the reality is most haven’t done that and at the end of the day this is a game for the masses and maintaining interest is important.

Time to clear out the dead wood.
I was looking at a double upgrade this week, Lynch > Greenwood and Green > BSmith, but these extra trades might force me to change my strategy. My initial thought is that with the extra trades it is even more vital to have cash generation to take advantage. So now I'll take the 'Egg molester' and Mayo at the expense of Green, Rivers. Gives me 29 playing with Naismith destined to be traded to a ladhams type for cover. No opportunity for loops but with the shortened breaks and byes I think it's essential to have as many warm bodies as possible.

I wrote earlier in the year I wasn't going to use my 5 trades available, as I wanted to keep them up my sleep for the inevitable chaos that came mid season. I was however fearful, Supercoach may add trades throughout the season and make that strategy redundant in the future.

A few were very confident Supercoach couldn't do that, as it would eat away at the integrity of the game and we already had excess trades due to reduced round.
Same here, now left with 22 trades after this week, 11? rounds to go and not sure extra trades will be offered for the other bye rounds after 9-12, so if I use 3 trades/week over the next 4 weeks I'll have 10 left to cover the remaining 7 weeks.
