Looked alright until i saw there were 206 entrants at $50 a pop ($10,300) and the prize money only amounted to $7,200! Thats an extremely large cut for the people running it!
I think your numbers are skewed.

Guys who run it take zero

i can only go off what is showing on the website. Maybe there are a lot of entrants playing for free that aren't eligible for the prize money?
Actually 209 entrants showing now.

Discarded my Mizuno 3 iron for a Taylormade M2 22 rescue club. Never regretted it. The rest of the irons are MX-23 cavity backs that I've played with for the last 20 years. The wedges are blades - beautiful feel (52 and 56). Have a Taylormade 60 - very nice. Pretty old now, just like the balance of the heads with rifle shafts and slightly fat grips. Just feel the grip and the head; perfect. Don't feel the need for new clubs.

What h’caps are you fellas off. Where do you play?
For my part don’t play much anymore. Now 61 play off 18 got down to 7. I am a member of Yering Meadow in the Yarra Valley. Well over 10 years ago I bought a set of Ben Hogan cavity backed Edge irons. Still one of the best looking clubs around in my view, don’t see many. Enjoy.

Need to play a minimum of once a week, hit a bucket or two a week, and before a round, and practice the short game until you are absolutely sick of it.
Never had a lesson
Maybe been to a driving range 10 times
Maybe 15-20 mins warm up before a round, putts, chip, bunker, nets (PW, 7iron, 4iron, 3w) putt
Bizarre but I just prefer to play

Pretty much ditto these days Toxic. Can hit the ball ok still but the short game suffers badly through lack of touch.

Get yourself a 1 iron son. “Only God and Jack Nicklaus can hit a 1 iron.” (Gary Player).
I bought my brother in law one last Xmas.
His handicap has gone from 24 to 14. Hits darts with his 2iron

I've hit it during a round for fun, flushed it on a regular basis 230+

Had to have one

Always ask this question, what is your first downward move, do you use your hip turn as the first move to drive the speed of your downswing. There is a great little video of Ben Hogan describing his swing, you tube it, is great. He and Mo Norman ‘owned’ their swing.
