Hey Row,

I'm in all sorts of strife.
Only have 3 trades left and still need 2 premiums to fill mids. $149,000 in kitty.
Also have Griffen and H Taylor.
Have been trying to get Harvey back to forwards but over the last few weeks haven't been able to.
Was thinking this week: Griff and Ambrose out for Libba and Honeychurch. Then next week use last trade: L Taylor or Shenton out for SJ.
But that would leave me no trades. So I'd just have to pray for the rest of the year. Not sure what to do? Maybe just one trade this week to fix Grif?

Appreciate if you could have a look.

Cheers.

Hey Rowsus. One more trade to complete my team (well.....as complete as it's going to get!). Planned trades are:

Taylor > Honeychurch
Ambrose > Fyfe (via Parker to forwards)

This leaves me with 4 trades and $21K.

My bench cover will be pretty thin with Cutler (def), Shenton (mid, fwd) & McGovern (fwd). I have no ruck cover at this stage. I know Honeychurch is a risk but he at least enables me to swing Shenton between mid and fwd.

Sound ok?

Hi Adrenaline,
that's a tough one.
There are so many things to consider, including:
How far in front of 3rd on the ladder are you? (Is there a prize for minor Premier?)
Can you win the match-up, even with a Langdon/Hibberd donut?
Team selection this week will have a big bearing on what you should do. In general, the Mid line and Fwd line in your team need more work than your Def, though it is possible/probable the Def line might need to take priority this week, due to circumstances. If you only had 4 or 5 trades left (instead of the 10 you have), and you have an 8 point buffer to 3rd on the ladder, you might just be better off eating that Def donut.
Simpson would appear to be a case of waiting would be better. Birchall might represent value, if you need someone desperately this week.
If you let me know how your match-up looks this week (weak/strong opponent), and how far off the 3rd team is, when the teams are announced I am happy to have a further look at it for you.
Good luck :)
Thanks for your reply Rowsus. The prize money is $1000 and i am currently leading 2nd by 4 points and have the 2nd best percentage. I am playing 2nd team on the ladder this week. If i had a full team with hibberd and langdon playing, i would beat him. However if i dont have a full squad its unlikely i would beat him. I agree with you, my backline could wait if langdon wasnt bleeding cash and hibberd didnt have an injury cloud. I would prefer to upgrade the mids or the forward line.

My main aim is finals and ensuring i have the best team that can help me win the 1000.00 and have at least 6-7 trades going into finals. Hence this week is not important to me because the lowest i could potentially go is 3rd and i would be equal with 1st on points. It will be fantasic to get your opinion when the teams are announced. Thanks for all your help and your help throughout the year.

Hey Juzzo,
I think for the moment you just have to ride Griffen out. With only 3 trades left, it is really a bit of a luxury to try and trade him until it is confirmed he is a LTI.
Depending on how selections go this week, I'd be considering one of two moves.
Using only one trade, Ambrose out, Taylor down, Miles in to provide cheap M8/9 option. Which means both Miles and Shenton play this week, but it at least you have 2 trades left, and have re-established your M/F DPP link.
Use 2 trades, take Ambrose down to Honeychurch/Spina to re-establish your DPP link, trade Shenton/Taylor to just about anybody you want.
Obviously selection tonight might make all these plans obsolete.
Good luck :)

Hi Bobbie,
after looking at your team, I think that's exactly what I'd do.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus, I was predicting Hibberd and Langdon to miss, so had planned to trade Langdon out this week to Scott Thompson and leave KK as my bench cover. Would I be better to keep Langdon instead of KK now? Who do you think will be better cover? The extra $20k from Langdon would come in handy in getting to a premium mid next week though.

For my last upgrade is it premature to bring in Kersten for Ambrose to fund L Taylor to Barlow/SJ/Dal/Greenwood?

This would leave me with 7 trade and a full team with good coverage on mid and fwd line, no cover in the rucks and bews/cutler in def.

What say you?

Evening Rowsus, looking at my final mid upgrade. Who should it be? JPK, rocky, ward, Libba, SJ or anyone else? I've chosen JPK coz of finals run. Any advice to the contrary? Thanks mate!

hi rowsus

i was wondering if i can get your advice on my team and the trades that i am considering this week

My current team is

hibberd, mcveigh, bartel, swallow, hanely, langdon, cameron, aylett

ablett, pendels, beams, kennedy, fyfe, libba, selwood, obrien, beams, acres

jacobs and sandi

parker, martin, danger, pav, roughhead, shenton, impey and lennon

I have 248k in the bank

i am assuming langdon will be out which means i wont have cover and i was thinking of trading him out for either malceski or simpson. I would like to wait a week on simpson as his price will reduce signficantly this week however it will mean i wont play a full side.

If i trade in simpson this week and remove shenton i can have approx 250k in the bank for next week and then i can trade in robbie grey the following week for impey or trade in another rookie and get rocky in, which will leave me 8 trades plus one more upgrade to perform.

My goal is to win the league and i am currently sitting 1st.

Whats your opinion about my trade strategy? do you think there is better value other than simpson or malceski?

I suppose the question becomes, do we trust Langdon will play? or do we plan on him being a late out?
C Beams is pretty much maxed out. He only has one score for the season over his current B/E.
You could consider something like: Impey ---> Honeychurch, Beams C to Gray R. Then when it's time to milk Shenton you move Gray Down via Honeychurch/Shenton.
The other option is just find someone you like for Langdon, and just do it. Even if it is Simpson a week early.
Good luck :)

Hi Beached az,
I think Langdon is better cover than KK. The thing to do, is pick the Mid Prem you want next week, and map out with the use of B/E's etc whether it is likely you can reach them if Langdon still in your team. That's the best way. It would be disappointing to trade Langdon, and find you didn't need to.
Good luck :)

for most people I'd say Kersten is a bit of a risk. But given the strength on your Fwd bench, and the number of trades you have, I'd say if you like Kersten, then go for it.
Good luck :)

Hey Rowsus,

Only 5 left so I am thinking I should hold the trades but I am over Zorko.
Am I mad by doing a luxury trade and going Zorko to Parker. Parker will be the cheapest he will be.
Currently have S.Martin and Zorko and F5 & F6 and still have Harvey in mids.
Any suggestions or should I just hold?

Cheers

Morning ****,
I think you've nearly listed them in the right order. Libba will be interesting this week. Off the top of my head, he's only had 6 scores over 140 in his career, and 4 of those 6 are his last 4 scores against Melbourne! Still, one good score doesn't make a right decision, unless it round 23!
Good luck :)

Hey Slammer,
given your team is all but finished, I think you can afford to rage trade him, and hopefully push up into the top 100 by seasons end. Of course, Buddy has averaged 18 higher than Parker in the last 5 games, so he's worth considering too.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus,

I'm interested in what your take is on Dane Swan's season.
Now priced at $466,200, with an average of 93.25, he is at his SC worst since 2005!

He just seems that little bit off and while I'd love to trade him out of my team, I keep getting the nagging feeling that he's going to go BANG with a 150 very, very soon.

Are there any figures or stats that can explain why he is having such a year?
To the naked eye, the most obvious one is his DT:SC ratio, which has been as good as 1:1 for the majority of his career but has slipped quite a bit this year, just wondering if there's anything you've picked out that the general punter might have missed.

Hey Mike,
Shiel and Bennell are probably the best candidates, but I'd just keep SJ.
Good luck :)

Hi The MC,
his possessions are Down, his CP's are Down, and I don't have thenumbers, but I suspect his metres gained are down too. The best option is to try and move him to M9 and loophole him, which is not possible for everyone. I can understand anyone who rage trades him now, but his low Price makes it an expensive exercise. I agree with you, he seems to good a player to not bust out a score soon. Especially given his 2nd half of seasons are nearly always better than his first.
Good luck :)
