Hi Rowsus. What are your thoughts on Webster? I have been tossing up downgrading him to either Martin or Georgiou and using the cash to upgrade Liberatore to Jelwood and upgrading Hurn to someone like Hibberd (if I go Webster to Georgiou I can do both). It would mean I would have two playing defensive rookies with Langdon & Langford currently on my bench, and would give my 4 round 8 premiums in the midfield. But Jelwood & Hibberd look like more sure players than Liberatore & Hurn. The Webster to Georgiou would also leave enough cash to go Thurlow to Currie if need be and have a bit of cash left over.

This would also still leave Suckling at D4 but even Webster to Georgiou wouldn't give me enough to upgrade him to anything more than a low $400k player and I'm not much more confident in them than Suckling.

Also What are your thoughts on Guthrie as a POD to Suckling? There has been a bit of talk that he could get more midfield time and looked good through NAB Cup. However he has the round 8 bye, and Suckling does have some good SC form. Also I would probably have to downgrade Webster to bring him in as I don't have much spare cash and may need to upgrade Thurlow.

Cheers Rowsus. Do you think there are any other rucks I should be considering (not Jacobs! Burnt big time last year & can't go there again)?
No, the choices are starting to get thin for round 1 now.

Hi Baby,
I'm not a fan of Webster, I think he should be avoided. He may have better JS this season, but he's not a good scorer. If you didn't have by now, I can't see a good reason to get him, and if Georgiou gets picked, he looks a better option.
I don't think there is a lot between Suckling and Guthrie, I'd let bye structure decide that.
At the moment I would keep Libba over Jelwood. There has to be some doubt about his preseason.
I have both Hibberd and Hurn, and Hibberd also has a question mark over him, but if he is fit to go, then he should be better than Hurn over the season.

Thanks Rowsus. Is anyone else hating the split round? It's giving me too much time to think about my team.

Side question, similar vein, what do you think of Mav Weller JS and scoring, with his suspension this week could allow some of us to collect the Langdon (e)

Hi Rowsus,

Are you able to quantify how many points one needs to gain out of a floating donut each week to make up for the fact that the donut does not appreciate in price and therefore slows down our progress towards a full premium team.

Also would you say that as a rule of thumb it is bad to jump on a midpricer on the bubble that is due for a big price increase UNLESS we have very good intel that this player is taking his game to another level because we already missed out on the big scores.

I honestly don't know enough about him. His Price makes him pretty awkward, I wouldn't have him.

There's many different opinions on the first part. Let's say the average Rookie makes $160k in 7 price changes. That $160k is earmarked for improvements from around round 9 or 10 on, and hopefully earns 30 pts/game to the end of the season. That's 360 points. So you probably need 40 points/round to justify it. Very hard to achieve.

No, I wouldn't jump on a bubbling Midpricer, unless one of your fringe Premiums looks really terrible.

Should I bring in Honeychurch for M Crouch? Not sure about his JS compared to Crouch's chances at starting soon.

.
A bird in the hand approach is usually best with Rookies. I'd take Crouch out for now.

Rowsus.

I made the last minute decision to stack my backline with rookies as there are now an abundance of them down there who will make money. So I have 3 guns and 5 rookies down in DEF. Then I made the decision to ditch Caddy (who scored well but surprisingly lower than I thought given his impact) and I want to upg him to a keeper over 500k. I already have Danger, Martin and Roughy.

So it comes down to Riewoldt v Harvey v Petrie, all proven supercoach scorers. Whose your best bet to score the best? I am slightly leaning towards Petrie, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rooey defies the odds again. But it could be mighty tough given the state of the Saints list atm.

I just don't have enough faith in those fwds priced from 400-500k, although I do have Parker and think he could break out. I want to have practically a set and forget FWD line structure of 5 premos + Higgins + 2 rookies as well a S&F Ruck combo as all the cash making opportunities are in DEF and MID at the moment and very, very limited in the RUC and FWD.

Thoughts?

BTW - I'm only going for a league win so not concerned about the byes atm.

1.Just personal opinion. I think he will be just below last season, and will score better in the 2nd half of the season than the first. Mainly based on Brisbanes tougher draw, and the perception they will win less games this season.

2.It sounds like you are committing 2 trades on the back of 1 games eveidence. I would hold off, and stick with your original thoughts.
Hi Rowsus, Based on your previous comment, do you think that Libatore is a better choice than Rockliff? He would also work better for my bye round. My main concern is that I am not sure if Libba can back up his fantastic 2013
