Hi mate,

So I've had this thought over night, now it isn't necessarily conventional but it mightn't be a bad way to loophole or to ensure I've got cover for the old 'restings' come the back end of the year.

So I have one more upgrade required, M8 which is currently occupied by Shenton with O'Brien and Acres on the pine. I currently have $253,300 in the kitty and 10 trades. So here is a thought, brining in Cotchin to be M8 for what should be a couple of weeks and once McGovern and Shenton have topped out then a downgrade/upgrade in which I should be able to get a Rockliff or another absolute premium MID. I know its risky but being able to loophole Trent Cotchin later in the year, or having him to come on if there is late outs etc. is pretty handy isn't it??

Round 14
Arces ---> Cotchin
Cameron ---> Spina (or another MID/FWD FD)

Then probably Round 16/17
Shenton ---> Rockliff (or premium MID)
McGovern ---> rookie priced FWD

Anyway thoughts mate? :) Too risky?

Hi Deeman1,
your players on, or potentially approaching the chopping block, appear to be:
Langdon - ave 81.3 - $402,400 - B/E 87 - last 2 scores 74, 79 - next 2 opponents Haw, Carl
Shenton - ave 76.0 - $309,200 - B/E 50 - last 2 scores 63, 71 - next 2 opponents WC, Rich
Taylor - ave 58.0 - $313,900 - B/E 15 - last 2 scores 71, 101 - next 2 opponents Fre, Nth
Higgins - ave 81.1 - $415,900 - B/E 143 - last 2 scores 59, 46 - next 2 opponents Port, Melb
Given the 2 of those 4 most likely to lose value are Langdon and Higgins, have you considered Higgins ---> Martin, Langdon ---> Bartel?
It gives you another week to decide who your keeper might be out of Shenton/Taylor so you can trade the other out to bring Danger Down and possibly SJ or someone else in. It also possibly maximises the use/production of your money.
Good luck :)
Cheers Rowsus, Thank-you very much for your thoughts.

I had realy not considered Bartel as an upgrade in defence as I had figured at $550k, he was too expensive, but I will give it some more thought. The thing that concerns me about paying top dollar for Bartel, and yes he has scored 157 in rd10 and 152 in rd 13, but if my memory serves me correctly, they were were both games that SJ missed, hence his mid time may have been increased in those games, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

The other concern that I have which is fairly common is the lack of defensive coverage down back with Bews and Cutler on the bench. I am warming to the Higgins to S Martin trade meaning in the short term Martin would be F6 and eventually F7 and R3 coverage.

Given that when I do the Higgins - Martin trade, do you think it would be worth trading Cutler to a cheaper defender such as Enright/SDT or Taylor and keeping Langdon as coverage for the Defence and Midfield lines or to loophole with Hunt and the lower cost defender that is brought in for Cutler?

Cheers again.

Hi Rowsus,

lots to ponder this week but here's my thought. Trade Hallahan and Shenton. Bring in Honeychurch and Libba/JPK/Jack/SJ (via Zorko) or Buddy up forward (then loophole a forward if C Cameron doesn't play). Or do i just trade Hallahan to Buddy, leaving Zorko at M8 and no downgrade? Then do 1 up 1 down next week?

sorry mate, lots of questions in a question! 10 trades left, $218k in the bank.

cheers

edit H Taylor out so forcing my hand in rearguard upgrage, which may not be a bad thing. Hurn vs McVeigh vs Bartel vs??? Birchall perhaps to save some $$$ or Burgoyne??

Or a crazy idea, leave H Taylor on bench, switch Bews to Kersten (and play him, first gamer!) and resume with plan A of Premo Mid or Buddy?

aargh...the dilemma!

first of all, congratulations on how well you are doing coupled with having 10 trades left! You can color me green, because I'm jealous of both!
with so many trades left, you definitely need to raise some cash, to use them to full effect. Even though you missed McG's bubble, he still appears to be the best cash making option available this week, so yes, I think you should grab him.
Good luck, with all those trades I am hoping you can push to a top 500 finish. :)
Thanks for the advice Rowsus. I set a goal for top 1000 so top 500 would be a bonus! Another question for you. Luckily we all have you for supercoach advice but who do you ask?

Which is better?

10k

or

The ability to loophole Higgins and S Martin while starting Wingard for 1 week (Other option means I start both Higgins and S Martin while benching Wingard.)

Thanks in advance

Hey Rowsus what to do with Harry Taylor? I have Gardiner on my bench to cover. I really cant afford to use a trade for Taylor plus it wouldnt be worth it because i cant get anyone decent anyway! How long do you think he will be out for? I'm thinking Gardiner will have to just cover

Hey Rowsus, would love your thoughts on this trade plan.

Currently have 8 trades and $180k in the bank. Considering doing the following:

OUT - Lewis Taylor, Amborse

IN - Wingard, Stefan Martin

I'm keen as this gives me a bargain Wingard, plus with Martin I not only get ruck cover (finally making Thurlow useful) but also can loophole him and Petrie for the foreseeable future (using Lloyd/Thurlow as the donut). What worries me is it'll drop me to only 6 trades.

With these two trades my team would look like this:

BACKS
Simpson, Swallow, Malceski, Hanley, Hurn, Taylor (Gardiner, Clurey)

MIDS
Ablett, Pendles, Libba, Selwood, Ward, Beams, Fyfe, Goddard

RUCKS
Sandi, Minson (Thurlow, King)

FORWARDS
Danger, Martin, Pav, Franklin, Petrie, Wingard (Martin, Lloyd)

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Rowsus,

Hoping for your wisdom once again. I have 10 trades and $112,500.

Have 3 options for this week that have me divided.

1. Fasolo & Higgins to Wingard & S Martin/McGovern - will leave me $219,000 to $248,000
2. Fasolo & Tyson to Fyfe & S Martin/McGovern - cash $95,000 to $122,000
3. Fasolo & McDonald to Fyfe (Bartel to backline) & McGovern - cash $12,500

Would already have SJ if not late withdrawal (Bartel late in for me) Want Fyfe over SJ. Wingard has scored better last month so could be more consisten than Higgins. Who is the better option between McGovern and S Martin.

After this week looking to finish off with Fyfe, SJ?? and Gray (fwd).

Any thoughts including totally different ideas welcome and appreciated.

cheers

Hi GG,
I don't think it's too risky at all. The only caution I'd throw you is, try and make sure next week you get some coverage in your Def line, it's looking a little exposed compared to your Fwd/Mid lines.
The only other question is, is Cotchin the best choice? Have you considered Montagna or Duncan for POD's sake?
Good luck :)

Given Cutler has been selected, and has a lowish B/E, I guess it is prudent to get another price rise out of him. Unless you are desperate to upgrade him.

Hi ****,
I'm not sure how you switch Bews to Kersten. For most people, unless they are rich with trades, I would suggest just riding out the Taylor donut this week. But given your high position, and the assumed Desire to finish as high as you can, I think maybe you should shift Taylor on. Given you still have some upgrades to make, I'd choose between Birchall and Hurn, and leave Burgoyne alone.
Good luck :)

Hey brad,
save your trade! Taking Gardiner instead of whoever you bring in might save you 40 or 50 points, but trades are worth more than that.
Good luck :)

Hi ****,
I'm not sure how you switch Bews to Kersten.
I'm guessing he was speculating trading Hallahan and Bews and bringing in Kersten and Bartel.

Either he trades Hallahan to Kersten via switching Shenton to midfield and then Bews to Bartel OR essentially the same thing is trading Hallahan to Bartel, then when he trades Bews out, shifts Bartel from mid to defense which frees up Shenton to then goto mid and also then frees up Kersten taking the spot opened up in forward line. I think that was what he meant by his crazy idea by clicking on his team to take a gander myself.

Thanks mate, will look into those other options as well and see whats the best way to go.
Yeah DEF is running a fine line but there isn't too much to get excited about down back atm, no rookies on the horizon that I can see.

Just out of interest, how much do you consider a trade to be worth?
I guess there will be a huge difference if you go through and actually assess how many points each one is worth. You'd probably want most of your up/downs to be worth more than 100, but saving a premium doughnut would be worth it imo, so long as you are clever about it (I should have not traded Dangerfield back in so quickly and got Harvey instead - damn his 154 in r9!) ..

Thanks Rowsus and Oz, i got myself confused thinking Kersten was a DEF but i actually don't mind Oz's suggestion (although i can't afford Bartel so i'd get Birchall). decisions decisions!

Hi Rowsus

To trade or not to trade.... That is the Question.

I have a donut in Impey this week... and I am thinking of either bringing in Fyfe or Kennedy.... but thinking that Rockliff next week would be a more intelligent option.

6 Trades left... so down to the bare minimum. With 2 more upgrades, Polec and Shenton/Impey, Should I cop the donut or trade S.Lloyd out for Honeychurch (moving Shenton down) or SMartin (meaning I have ruck forward switch option with Thurlow in R3)

Currently have Luke Dunstan at M8. Its hard to make money at moment with not many good rookie downgrades available. What do you think about trading Dunstan to Miles given that it will only makes me just under 100K and ill still need to upgrade Miles at some stage later in year. Currently 8 trades left and focussing on league win.

Cheers mate
