The rookies would be equally realistic if I turned Starcevich into McHenry and then I’d still be 28k short of being able to correct a 123k mid rookie to Serong with one correction trade. There’s heaps to play out and I have different teams and players in mind (including with Dusty over Whitfield)

Like I said if I need to select Serong I will and that goes for other expensive players and all of those would require a reshuffle. The rookies I’ve picked are realistic based on my research.

I will be surprised if Brander is named round one btw.

I want to see Roberton play first before considering him too heavily.
McHenry seems to have picked up an injury so I doubt he’s an option. Comment was more relevant if say you needed to go Starcevich up to Serong to have a playing rookie generating cash.

Was interested to see your alternate options if the cheaper rookies didn’t show, especially in defence. An obvious option is Naismith R2, but I was wondering what other options there are for a Gawn R2 side (THCLT’s route was interesting).

I read that McHenry should be fine for this week's game on the AFL website and he's not on their injury list. "Key forward Darcy Fogarty is on track to play having proved his fitness in an under-23s trial with Port Adelaide last Saturday, while small forward Ned McHenry is likely to be available having copped a knock to his hip in the same game." Naismith is one I could consider if needed, it's not a bad idea at all, but I think he probably needs to average 75-80 for it to work, unless Gawn drops off significantly. I'll need to think about it more after their next game but he's an option. Roberton could average up to 90 but might only average 75 (I really hope his heart is no longer an issue for him but I definitely consider it a risk).

Quite positive re McHenry. Thanks for sharing.

All quite reasonable points re Naismith and Roberton. They will be key sliding doors types this year!

With the news on Taranto I'm not game enough to skip on Whitfield anymore.

I really hope Docherty turns it on this weekend.
Need to see minimum 90s
Very similar to my post Marsh1 team, but I bet that your hoping that it's not just Doc scoring well but a host of others too. Guess the next round will give us a clearer picture. My only worry with a team like that is cash generation, so I've gone down a path that I guess is very little trodden and loaded up my bench. I also have Ceglar as my 'get out' in case Naismith looks like being a bust. The other MP's, like yours, can easily be traded down/up and properly nail those rookies on the bubble as well as those 'role change/breakouts' that may rear their heads.

FWIW this is my current team, seriously thinking of keeping Treloar if it's only a one game miss as I have 7 rookies to choose from for cover, yes, it might cost 60 points but he's someone that I'd like in my side.

I don’t think you need Ceglar if it’s only a way of de-risking Naismith. Or you think he’s a great pick in his own right?

I don't think he's a 'great' pick, but he's priced around 75 and I do see some upside to that, it's yet to be seen how much that might be and with Big Boy out for most of the Marsh 1 game it's too hard to judge right now. I do feel though that I need a plan to get Gawn in and probably before round 7, so Ceglar is my stepping stone to that with Naismith. Yes, it will cost 2 trades (hopefully) but I reckon there'll be a rookie showing up around that time as well which I would use a trade on anyway, effectively then for me it's only a 1 trade cost. Maybe between Gawn losing a bit, Naismith/Ceglar gaining a bit I cover a 150k gain, plus a 200 point gain by having Gawn back in. Maybe my math is up the **** (wouldn't be the first time) or there'll be too many other issues to deal with but I'm willing to take the risk.

I like the extra depth you have in your fwd and def due to Naismith at R2.

I don’t like starting with an injured premo in Treloar. I don’t know why you wouldn’t just start with a fit Cripps, Danger, Bont, Titch or Fyfe.

It's a fair point and one I'm still weighing up. But let's look at one of the players that you mentioned (yes, I'm cherry picking) in Dangerfield. He's up against a potential tag in DeBoer and could conceivably end up with a 60-70 point game. If I start a rookie on field in place of Treloar then I would be hoping that the rookie would score the same. One of the reasons that I chose Treloar in the first place was because of his POD plus he's a proven scorer with pretty solid reliability, his ownership % will plummet now with none of the competitive teams owning him and I cant see any of them picking him up before his bye. How much of a difference that means I'm yet to work out.

Treloars strings worry me.
Coniglio the sleeping giant. Reckon Greene will cash in on Taranto missing too.
