Thanks for the reply HF.

I like your reasoning and with Birchall being 40k cheaper than Laird, I'm tempted to switch him in

Who do you think will take Suckling's role? Will opposition teams just redouble their efforts on Birchall?
I think Hartung will become a permanent fixture through the midfield and Hodge and will likely spend less time in the middle and will spend more across half back like he has done in previous years... just my thoughts, who knows what clarko will do.

LOVE A DPP! ROOKIES BASED OFF REALISTIC SPEND AND LATEST KNOWLEDGE. RUCKS STILL UP FOR DEBATE.

McVeigh, KK, Bartel, Smith/Yeo, Otten, Lee (Stk), Brown (Ess) Bonner
Pendles, Ablett, Shiel/Selwood/Ward, Rockliff, Wines, Libba, Kerridge, Jansen, Mathieson, Hibberd, Marcon
Martin, Leuenberger, Wyatt
Montagna, Martin, Bennell, Greene, Rose, Sumner, Petracca (Toe), Hammelmann

Just over $50k for movements...

I would take both Smith & Yeo probably at the expense of KK... I reckon they will all score similar and Smith/Yeo are cheaper.
Nice midfield, I would have Selwood as M3... Shiel has a history of missing games and I don't think Ward will improve any further.
Sorry, don't like Leuy in ruck (had a complete change of heart on him after having him in early drafts), especially without cover.
Think Montagna is overpriced.

I like it mate, i'm sure you're aware of the risks involved with Leuey but that will be a decision all of us will need to make.

From what ive read Mills is a near certainty to play to on my watchlist as well.

As a Port supporter, really interested to hear what you're expecting from Wingard this year. Averaged nearly 100 with an average of under 20 possies a game, he has real scope for improvement imo. In my side atm actually.

If I can get enough cash to replace Burger I will, but im not sure who with.. do you have any suggestions for cheap rucks? how do you think Sinclair will go?

I heard Mills is going very well at Sydney so I had a look at him and hes stayed in the team since haha

I believe Wingard has the skill to take it to the next level (Im a Port supporter and love watching him) but I don't know if having all the talls in the forward line will take the ball away from him..

I kinda feel like if you don't go with Berger, you go all the way up to a keeper premium. Just my 2c though, Dimma (who won the whole thing lol) mentioned earlier he may go a 400ker as a stepping stone to a fallen Goldy so it's just a matter of strategy and opinion i suppose.

I hadn't really considered how Dixon i think you're referring to will affect Wingard. I guess it could work for and against him and with Polec returning it may just mean he won't get the time up the ground i'm hoping he will

Yes I normally steer clear of hawks players because the distribution of points is so even. I am certainly not sold on McEvoy and he may become Leuenberger but I feel with Hale going he will play more minutes in the ruck as I certainly don't rate Ceglar. If Ceglar plays I don't see Roughy's role changing, the interesting impact to Roughy will be how schoey goes next year. If roughy was a F/R then I would definitely have him but I don't see him increasing his scoring. If he can cement down a spot at CHF then roughy may see even more midfield minutes. I see value in Birchall but our preseason structure will determine if I stick with him. Buddy if fit and healthy is just too good a value to pass up. Anderson I really rate highly and if he can find a spot in Norths best 22 then he is a lock for me, and I expect him to do this as they gave up there first round pick for him so clearly see a role. Hartung for me is an absolute lock, first picked in my side actually, the kid is a running machine and with the sub rule gone and rotations reduced I fully expect his game time to increase dramatically.
Thanks HF. Your rationale on the Hawks/ex Hawks seems well thought out. Given that ,and the fact that you normally avoid Hawthorn players, hopefully the concentration this year should be pretty safe and work in your favour. I've considered Birchall and Buddy myself and both are probably just outside my top picks. Buddy does look great value if he is fit and well (I'm just not sure how I'm going to achieve adequate confidence on that).

Thanks for the feedback on Roughy, he's one I will continue to watch.

Bit of a reshuffle for the Surry Hillbillies (note: rookies indicative):

D: Bartel, Yeo, KK, Smith, Brown, Brown (Byrne, Hibberd)
M: GAJ, Danger, Pendles, Rocky, Libba, Mills, Sumner, Freeman (Morabito, Mathieson, Williams)
R: Goldy, Martin (Wyatt)
F: Dusty, Dahl, Barlow, Buddy, Kennedy, Petracca (Kerridge, Adams)

Edit: One issue I'm having is that the last premium in either a fwd/rookies leaves me uncertain, am I better to just hold onto 150k in cash for a round or two and then correct?

I think you are better off holding the $150k unless you can use it to save a trade or make more money.

I meant fwd/def but I'm leaning that way. I'm almost certain buddy will miss a fair bit, and am unlikely to start him.

Near identical team to my current draft so hoping we're on the right track! :)

As IDIG says you would be better to go up to a premium ruck if you don't want Luey (note I don't mind the punt - every year we seem to have a good $300K ruck pick except last year with TBC!).

I think looking at your team the answer would be dropping a premium mid down to a rookie, put Libba into M5 and then upgrade in your rucks, if that is what you wanted to do.

That team screams at me to turn Wells into a rookie and then take it from there. You could then get Goldy easily (interesting to see how easy Goldy fits in actually - he's in my early draft team and it didn't seem to cause me obvious compromises anywhere else).

I think punt on one of Crouch or Wells, not both.

Hi Guys

Currently running with :-

Backs: Bartel, Yeo, Smith, Z Williams + 4

Mids: Pendlebury, Ablett, Rockliff, Wines, Liberatore + 6

Rucks: S-Martin , Tippett (Naismith)

Forwards: D-Martin, Barlow, Harvey, Sinclair + 4

Allowing $ 123,900.00 each for Rookies I am left with $ 702,800.00

happy with structure at this stage so very much depends on rookie priced players for Round 1, fell for too many in the $ 175,000 - $ 250,000.00 price range last season but if Wells survives the NAB he is in

so may either

* find another premium forward liking Gunston, Roughy or Westhoff (or a D/F and then use with Adams and Brown)
* turn Wines/Liberatore into Gray & Kennedy
* upgrade Williams to Heater (scary when he is only $ 20,000.00 under Pendles)

any comments would be appreciated

good luck for 2016

Current setup. A few points!
- ruck setup is clearly high risk and I'll admit a long shot to be my starting duo come round 1 but fairly confident one of these two will start as my R2.
- i think there is heaps of potential value in defence and like the look of no 500k defenders starting and batting to D5. Lots of options imo (notwithstanding the whole preseason to come!)
- don't see any point in not going vanilla this year with so many underpriced sc legends. I dont see any reason not to start all of GAJ, Pendles, Rocky, Libba and Jelwood. Ollie wines looks like a low risk POD (kinda) choice. Maybe Luke Parker another I like at this price. I keep creeping BCrouch in at time. Like him more than O'Meara. Wait for PS on these two I reckon. Fyfe will make it in there somehow (probably for Jelwood) if his fitness isn't in qn
- Fwds more value options here as well. Franklin looks underpriced and just the type of bloke who can get you off to a flyer. you gotta put your chips somewhere. First picked FWD for me (pending fitness). Barlow I'm shakey on. Good chance he gets dropped through the year IMO. Fits a value choice for me. Dusty's a lock and I like Montagna more than Lids only because of team role.

Can't wait for this season having had to half-arse it last year! Lots of interesting player prices to work with I reckon.Cheers

Defense:
Koladjashnig, Bartel, Smith, Yeo, Rookie, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie)

Midfield
Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Rockliff, Ablett, Wines, Liberatore, Rookie, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie)

Ruck
Naitanui, Nichols (Currie)

Forward:
Martin, Barlow, Bennell, Greene, Rookie, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie)

1. Unsure about Yeo, I have chosen him like everyone else because I've never had my luck with defenders.
2. Would Like Tom Mitchell>Adam Treloar>Dylan Shiel, but Wines is the only player Im certain to go 112+ with a decent game count, and you can't afford to pick a poorly performing midfield premium, so I will stick with one.
3. Assuming Nichols' role as the sole ruckman, currently have Naitanui>Lycett>Martin>Leunburger
4.Montagna, Deledio, Wingard, GC Lynch, Merrett are all tempting but all have some doubts and uncertainty over their role/Durability. So does Bennell but his upside outweighs the risk. Whereas Barlow, Martin and Greene offer relative security and imo hardly can go wrong.

Around 50k left, cheers for the feedback.
