Had Sloane at the end last year, like him. Thinking about Marc Murphy as well, no reason why such a class player shouldn't av. 110.

I had Leuey at the start last year, he was crap, not going with him again.

Bennell for X factor, should be a fun rollercoaster.

Funny how nicknames start, you could have started something here. Just can just hear Bruce waxing lyrical about 'The Toe'; doesn't roll off the tongue like 'Delicious' however. As long as he bobs around like a cork in the ocean he should be fine.
Yeh, love Sloane as a player and generally in SC. Still on the "think about" list.

Seems as though Leu may have some sort of an injury flare up from what I've been reading on this site, so may need to shift some do-re-mi to get him back up to a Jacobs or Nic Nat. May help solve some forward line insecurities...

Let's see how it plays out... Hate for his first kick to be a grubber off said 'toe'...

I would take both Smith & Yeo probably at the expense of KK... I reckon they will all score similar and Smith/Yeo are cheaper.
Nice midfield, I would have Selwood as M3... Shiel has a history of missing games and I don't think Ward will improve any further.
Sorry, don't like Leuy in ruck (had a complete change of heart on him after having him in early drafts), especially without cover.
Think Montagna is overpriced.
Some good points here. Will take on board. Cheers.

Have since shifted on Montagna and will do the same on Leuy after reading of an "injury flare up".

Defense:
Koladjashnig, Bartel, Smith, Yeo, Rookie, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie)

Midfield
Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Rockliff, Ablett, Wines, Liberatore, Rookie, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie)

Ruck
Naitanui, Nichols (Currie)

Forward:
Martin, Barlow, Bennell, Greene, Rookie, Rookie (Rookie, Rookie)

1. Unsure about Yeo, I have chosen him like everyone else because I've never had my luck with defenders.
2. Would Like Tom Mitchell>Adam Treloar>Dylan Shiel, but Wines is the only player Im certain to go 112+ with a decent game count, and you can't afford to pick a poorly performing midfield premium, so I will stick with one.
3. Assuming Nichols' role as the sole ruckman, currently have Naitanui>Lycett>Martin>Leunburger
4.Montagna, Deledio, Wingard, GC Lynch, Merrett are all tempting but all have some doubts and uncertainty over their role/Durability. So does Bennell but his upside outweighs the risk. Whereas Barlow, Martin and Greene offer relative security and imo hardly can go wrong.

Around 50k left, cheers for the feedback.
I like the side, good spread of cash. I'm interested in Greene and Wines from that lot.

Why are you so confident that Wines will go 112+? Do you see Port winning a lot more games, and Wines taking the lions share of the points? I think he is unlikely to overtake Gray, and maybe Boak.

Why do you see Greene as security? I have a lot of question marks over GWS, and his role in that side, and his dedication to make it as an AFL player.

The reason I pick these two as risks, are because they are players that you'll be stuck with if you get them wrong. It's hard to ever have a good time to upgrade a 440k forward, or a 500k midfielder. Then again, if both go large then I guess you're in a great position.

I'm also interested as to why Prochard is certain that Wines will average at least 112. For me I am very optimistic that he will average 110 or more, far from certain though. My reasons for the increase in average are natural progression, playing uninjured and I feel that Port are going to improve considerably on last years result which should see more SC points allocated to them.

With Greene I feel there are just too many question marks. I have had a long trawl of the GWS boards on bigfooty and from what I've read, Greene is by no means a lock in the best 22 and most of the people posting their best 22's have him on the bench. Coupled with the fact that there is no guarantee he will get a good run in the midfield and the coach has said he will be used up forward means he is a no from me.

My first draft that I'm reasonably happy with. 1.86 million remaining for 15 rookies so can just fit the 15 rookies in at an average of 123k

D: McVeigh, Kolodjashnij, Bartel, Smith plus 4
M: Fyfe, Pendlebury, Ablett, Selwood, Rockliff, Liberatore plus 5
R: Goldstein, Jacobs plus 1
F: Martin, Barlow, Smith plus 5

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks

Looks good Frankel.

I like the strucure and as long as you can get 4 decent rookies in defence and 5 in forward line, I think this will be a good structure to go with.

I think it will depend where the good rookies are which will determine whether the 4 + Liber or 5 + Liber structure in the midfiled is the best way to go.

Pereonally at this stage, I'm leaning towards the 4 + Liber structure.

Welldone, good start.

Thanks Deeman. At this stage I like the look of the forward rookie depth over the mids, and there appears to be more value to be had in the mid premiums this year, hence the 5+ Libba structure. You're right, I've always let the rookies determine my structure and this year will be no different. Thank you for your feedback

The value in the mids is determining my structure at the moment. My 6th midfield rookie last year wasn't that good and could have easily been a fwd or Def rookie. I'm also struggling to see any solid keepers in the other lines which keeps taking me back to a 6th premium mid.

Current setup. A few points!
- ruck setup is clearly high risk and I'll admit a long shot to be my starting duo come round 1 but fairly confident one of these two will start as my R2.
- i think there is heaps of potential value in defence and like the look of no 500k defenders starting and batting to D5. Lots of options imo (notwithstanding the whole preseason to come!)
- don't see any point in not going vanilla this year with so many underpriced sc legends. I dont see any reason not to start all of GAJ, Pendles, Rocky, Libba and Jelwood. Ollie wines looks like a low risk POD (kinda) choice. Maybe Luke Parker another I like at this price. I keep creeping BCrouch in at time. Like him more than O'Meara. Wait for PS on these two I reckon. Fyfe will make it in there somehow (probably for Jelwood) if his fitness isn't in qn
- Fwds more value options here as well. Franklin looks underpriced and just the type of bloke who can get you off to a flyer. you gotta put your chips somewhere. First picked FWD for me (pending fitness). Barlow I'm shakey on. Good chance he gets dropped through the year IMO. Fits a value choice for me. Dusty's a lock and I like Montagna more than Lids only because of team role.

Can't wait for this season having had to half-arse it last year! Lots of interesting player prices to work with I reckon.Cheers
2 observations Dimma.

Like the pick of Zac Williams. (haha). He's on my list. It's out of Rosa, Malceski, Williams and Harwood. Will be watching to see who gets the best role during the NAB Challenge. At the moment I've got Matt Rosa, think he will get the wing role. Wont get dropped, but possibly will get injured.

Next thing is. Where is Cloke ?

Awesome to see the thoughts of a SC wizard!
Agree with your thoughts on def, many solid value options
100% agree with the thinking on the top mids, those who start with a combo of GAJ, Pendles, Jelwood, Rocky, JPK, Fyfe (dep on fitness) will be behind the 8 ball big time. I currently have GAJ, Pendles, Jelwood, Rocky, JPK and Libba.
I am interested in some of your picks, Zac Williams (don't know much about him) and Buddy, will def be keeping an eye on them over pre season now.
With regards to Buddy are you planning a Cloke type move again or looking to keep him longer term?

Ollie wines being a 21 year old player, already averaged 106 last season taking out his injured/subbed games out. Keep in mind he wouldve scored even higher had he not have to recover from injuries.

Also, wines seem to be close to a perfect supercoach scorer. High number of contested possessions, goal kicker, high tackle count, clean disposals for his role, and critically low clanger numbers. This ensures that he is able to pump out monster scores with a relative low disposal count. It is easier to improve your average by increasing your production than to increase the output in points of each of your disposal.

Moreever, port will win more games, still plenty of room for improvement for his TOG, and his role is very unlikely to alter at all, unlike the others i have mentioned

Essentially, every window is open for wines to advance further as a player. And seeing what he achieved last season, i van only consider myself fortunate to have not missed him as a player.

All fantastic points and making me feel even more comfortable with my current decision to select him in my starting squad.

I have to say though that when it comes to SC, nothing is certain!

Creeker - mate I have definitely looked into your Williams call and like what I see. Looks like he would need to continue his form into 2016 or he'll be dropped quickly - but from what I can tell he seems to be their current preferred HBF with some rotation in the mids. Mal, Rosa types are certainly in the mix here. If Williams pays off though it'll be thanks to you mate!!

I want to stick Cloke in truly! Like Hinkley's quote that the reduced subs could increase the big KF relevance in the comp this year. It does make a contested mark beast like Cloke attractive. That said I think Franklin is the surer bet (being a bit more conservative I think is an unfortunate by product of winning the comp tbh! - picking Cloke seems nuts ya know ha). We'll see.

So much could change (like you know!) but i dont see a lot of point taking too many risks in the mids at the 600-500k level. I mean I just cant see Jelwood doing that much worse than wines or parker so why not go the guy with multiple 110+ seasons. Flip side of course is - do you want to follow the crowd!

Creeker can fill you in on Williams. If you look at his non-vest scores and the role he closed the year out in, he looks like a great value pick in DEF (another one). at 380k though veeeery awkward price. I'm gonna go value hunting in DEF i think. HIGHLY doubt i'll take either of McVeigh, Boyd or Shaw into the season. Too expensive for mine.

Buddy - I think that he is value and wont be a hugely popular pick. So as a renowned fast starter he's a possible early boost and if that was to happen, yeah, might well be a good trade down option. Keeping it simple though, he just looks cheap.

There goes our defensive POD now mate. Lol. The Zac hype will be up and about now that he's been seen in your squad.
I do agree with you with regards to Cloke. He is the best contested mark in the league. Points to be gained there. Can roost a footy. If only he could kick it straight. He also now has the midfield to deliver it to him. I know you have great memories of him being in your team but gee he has burnt me in the past.

He just needs another genuine target down there to give him some one on one opportunities and as you said the whole kicking it straight thing....
His early draw looks
Swans (A)
Richmond (H)
St Kilda (A) - still at MCG
Demons (H)
Essendon (H)

Just of note Buddys looks like
Pies (H)
Carlton (A)
Giants (H)
Crows (A)
West Coast (H)

both tempting if they can kick a few bags early

Is it worth taking a punt on buddy and then upgrading him to a premium like montayna? Row advised buddy is traditionally a fast starter. The draw is on his side. what is everyone thoughts on buddy?

I'm very wary of Buddy and his state of mind. It wouldnt surprise me at all if he were to look great in the lead up to round 1 and even play a few good games and then suddenly be a late out and miss games from about round 3 or 4 with "personal issues".

He is cheap, but I don't think he is "that cheap" to o***et the risk and my feeling is that he wont rise in value enough to make him a good stepping stone to a premo Fwd. I also wouldn't view him as a keeper either (although I'm sure some would disagree with me on that).

the key forward is perfect for a down trade upgrade move. Cloke is well priced to do it. buddy truth be told is probably too expensive. either way for it to go as plan they need bags and big ones! seeing cloke do it again would be sweet but i was confident then on a good start, this time it feels like a straight gamble hes been that bad for longer than 22 games!!
