I like that side. Good structure. I just think no Libba at his price could come back to haunt you. And I agree with Adrenaline, I don't like the Gunston pick either. Supercoach is a midfielders game and I just reckon you need to steer clear of that type of player.
It's not my actual side. Just a mock team I made for fun. I have Libba in my real side and as for Gunston I like him as POD and if you take a look at Rowsus analysis, you might see that he is pretty consistent for his type of player.

i really like this structure..this is another structure that i am highly considering. i think going with 3 premos in the def is the way to go because you dont know who is going to this years best defenders. last season we had the likes of mcdonald and picken and im sure they were around the low 400's or 300's as there starting price.

im not sure about boyd. He is not very durable so you gotta expect that he will miss games. '
midfield looks really good maybe consider fyfe if he is 100%. i like the wines choice
rucks is really good and the fwd line im not a huge fan of gunston. maybe consider someone like lids but i can understand that you may not want to pay overs for him and he is similar to boyd. he may not play 22 games. overall very good team
Not my actual side, just a mock team I made for fun as per my description above. However structure is similar to my real side. Lids is way too expensive and would be an upgrade target. Gunston however I have in my real side and would rather take a punt on him and have done extensive research on him and Rowsus analysis on Gunston reveals he is pretty consistent for a key fwd.

D: Shaw, Bartel, K Kolo, M Brown, M Brown, Hartley (K Collins, S Collins)
M: Fyfe, Danger, Pendles, Gaz, JPK, Libba, Parish, Sumner (Freeman, Balic, Keays)
R: Sandi, NicNat (King)
F: Dusty, Dahl, Barlow, Anderson, Petracca, Kerridge (Kommer, Pickett)

Decided to try a team with only keepers and rookies (Libba for value). Rookies need to show up for this to work
Bloke - one thing I noticed here is no Rocky. That's a huge POD - he's in around 90% of SC teams based on the midfielders poll, which might make him the most popular player around these parts.

Is there a reason you prefer someone like Shaw ($50k dearer), and the other mids, over him?

I think he's been first or second picked for most of us in the mids, so I'm quite interested if we are all potentially missing something.

My team; Sboys

DEF: Shaw, McVeigh, Simpson, Bartel, M Brown, M Hartley (K Collins, S Collins)
MID: Pendles, GAJ, Priddis, Rockliff, Libba, Keough, Cuningham, Keays, (Mathieson, Hibberd, Davis)
RUCK: Goldie, Lobbe, (M King)
FWD: Montagna, Martin, Dahlhaus, Barlow, Kerridge, Petracca (Kommer, McDonald-Tipungwuti)

Cash left; $11,400

I feel as if im spending too much but my side looks as if it is fine, the only question/dilemma ive got is that i could go (Shaw > B Smith) (Lobbe > Martin) (Keough > Menegola) leaving me $4,700. I only consider this cause i tend to take risk on my r2 at every start of the season and doesnt work out for me, thoughts??

Good structure. I prefer the alternate selections and a watch on McVeigh. Thumbs up.

Def: Laird, Macmillan, Bartel, M. Brown (Ess), rookie, rookie, rookie (rookie, rookie)
Mid: Danger, GAJ, Rockliff, TMitch, Wines, Libba, Parish, rookie (rookie, rookie, rookie)
Ruck: S. Martin, Nicholls (rookie)
Fwds: D. Martin, Dahlhaus, Bennell, D.Menzel, Simpkin, Kommer, (Kerridge, rookie)

I know, a lot of guys with the name 'Rookie'. Bad joke aside, decided to name the players I think have a good chance of being in my team. The midfield set-up dictates how many premiums I can play in defence and up forward. If I get rid of either Wines or TMitch for another rookie, I can use that to bolster other parts of the ground. I think Nicholls is an interesting prospect for GC and the same goes for Bennell and the effect Freo has on how he plays. Any critiques would be appreciated. :)

I'm not overthinking it this year ... Just going with the masses to a certain extent. I'm also thinking about not watching the NAB cup except for injuries. Last year my selections derived from watching it where slightly toxic and it took a long while to regain lost initial ground.

I see a lot of love for Danger. I'm always wrong on this type of memory, but seemed his early poor form always coincided with his GF/wife being absent OS or something. Anyway, he's one of a number of players I'd love, but can't really afford and hope like crazy they don't play Essendon until I get them in... ;p

d: Shaw, Simpson, Bartel, Malceski, Walker, Brown, Brown, (another Rookie - Maybe Byrne?)
m: Pendlebury VC, Ablett C Rockliff VCC Libretore, Crouch, Polec, Anderson, Petracca - still no real solid idea about rookies, but may as well state interest in Freeman, Moribato, Goodyear
r Goldstein, Lobbe - not sure about rookies and best option yet, but someone will announce (maybe Wyatt)
f Martin, Barlow, Franklin, Thomas, Leuenberger, Simpkin, Kommer, - Maybe Redman

I guess it depends on rookies playing, but I could see myself upping rookings in the forward or midfield and losing either Daisy or Polec and upgrading Lobbe to someone that might actually score highly.

I thought I read Rocky sustained a training injury? Will watch him. Obviously if all is well he'll walk into my team (probably for JPK). Also the reason Shaw is in over him is because it's a completely different position. To me, in a year with plenty of uncertainty in defense I'd rather spend 600k and know what I'm getting then spend <500k and have to trade to fix it

I agree with you about not letting NAB matches cloud your judgement on certain players, as this was my major regret from last year.

I like where you're at with the team structure, just maybe temper the so-called 50/50 selections a tad, I can see at least 6 which may cause you headaches during the course of the season.

Also, keep a tab on Leuenberger as he has trained much of late due to a lingering calf issue.

I don't mind this team and at various stages of my team building, I've had those 'not so obvious' players in my sides (JMac, TMitch, Nicholls).

I think wait for the Rookies to reveal themselves during the NAB and then assess whether you need to bolster either DEF or FWD.

Hi all, great to be thinking SC again!!

First draft of team (with zero consideration of the bye rounds at this stage)

D - Laird, Simpson, KK, Bartel, Dea, M Brown (Ess) (Hartley, Adamson)
M - Fyfe, Pendles, GAJ, Rockliff, Libba, O'Meara, Keough, Gore (Cunningham, Joyce, Greenwood)
R - Goldy, Lobbe (Wyatt)
F - Dusty, Dahlhaus, Barlow, Bird, Simpkin, Kerridge (Petracca, Hammelman)

$8,500 cash left.

Notes

Rookies to be confirmed after NAB challenge
Lobbe at R2 allows for an extra mid keeper (Rockliff)
I accept that I'm heavy on Essendon players at the moment, and may have to chop one of Bird or Simpkin.
Contemplating Tippett at F4
Defenders seems to be the hardest line to pick so far.

I think Rocky is good to go, although see the below links for comprehensiveness:

Team has been relatively stable for a while now so I thought it might be some time to get some feedback pre NAB.

Noticeably no Libba, Malceski at D4 and Mumford at R2.

No Libba basically stems from the fact I think Malceski has a higher chance of becoming D5/6 then Libba does M7/8. Also probably easier to correct a failed 380k defender then a failed 350k mid.

My thinking with Mummy is basically I don't want to start Jacobs with the Crows early draw and with the general consensus being Mummy would be Elite if he could stay fit, he either a) stays fit and I'm laughing, b) pings early and I sideways, or c) plays enough games for Sauce to drop a bit and jump on when his draw opens up. Either way I'll dedicate a trade for my R2 and be done with it.

Taken a few of the higher prices rookies to provide some wiggle room for once we get a look at them. 17.7k leftover.

Gray in there for some nice POD action, expect him to explode early. Quietly hoping Port sit a game or 2 clear on top after the first 8 ;)

Simpson, Bartel, Rich, Malceski, Hipwood, Byrne, Brown, Hartley

Pendles, Gaz, Gray, Mitchell, Rockliff, Gresham, Gore, Petracca, Cuningham, Keays, Matheison

Goldy, Mummy, King

Dusty, Barlow, Harvey, Buddy, Cockatoo, Kerridge, Sumner, Kommer

If Selwood comes up round 1 and looks the goods I'll probably slot him in for Mitchell.

Rich is one I have a gut feeling about hopefully with all the Lions mids fit and firing coaches may not put as much time into him. 2nd year back from recon too which helps.

Cheers for any and all feedback lads.

Same mid structure I'm probably going to go with, but mid rookies will determine this, usually plenty will bob up round 1.
I'm still 50/50 on Bartel. Rich pick could be good, 2 pre-seasons behind him now. Not sure about Eski, not in my team. I like your ruck strategy.
Harvey not sure about, love him but I'm not having him.
I like your team, same structure as mine ATM.

Similar structure to mine too BigRuss, it's just the PODs and borderline MPs that differ. I think your PODs of Gray, Mummy, Malcelski and Harvey could be the making or breaking of you and also a little surprised that with no Libba you didn't bump up your midfield from 5 potential keepers to 6 (Gibbs perhaps?). Overall pretty well balanced look though, if not a little risky for the money in the back line.

A very very strong team across the board. I like your reasoning for Malceski. His averages have been up and down his career but no doubt he would be disappointed with his lack of presence and leadership in 2015. Could be a stroke of luck having him to begin. I like the Gray POD in the midfield. Port's draw does look very nice early and a few big scores from premium port players can help get the jump on everyone. Rucks are going to kill me this year. So many options and mixes. A lot of risk vs reward down back and front. Barring playing rookies, I wouldn't change a thing. I'd even stick with Mitchell over Selwood if he does play round 1.

Why the 50/50 on Bartel? Proved to be very durable apart from last season which were both instanced injuries (KO and knee knock) as opposed to the sprains and strains you generally see from the older blokes. Brownlow medalist in defence, Wonder how often that's happened in the past?

Malceski is hopefully a calculated risk that pays off. His stats show that if he can play a full season he'll get you 90+. Apparently over his knee niggles which helps. Don't need the huge 2014 numbers from him just solid 88-92 and I'll be happy.

I'm not sold on Boomer either he's more of a placeholder then anything atm. Would love the extra money for a Wingard/Zorko type just can't seem to fit a third 500k forward with this structure.

The backline is easily my biggest worry, but also usually the easiest line to fix. Like I said Rich is a gut feeling I'm willing to bank on. Malceski and Boomer are really my biggest 2 concerns. Would love another 500k+ forward but just can't seem stretch the $$ that far.

Rookies permitting could potentially Rookie Boomer go 3 deep in the forwards and take Wines at M6. Something I'll play with and see what happens.

Yeah the rucks kill me most years trying to snag a mid pricer at R2. Goldy + NN last year paid off so I'll stick to set and forget (with a contingency) again this year. I'm quite bullish on Mitchell too but brand name Selwood just feels better on paper.

Fingers crossed Malceski plays 20+ and throws up 90s.
