Ok guys and gals.
I currently have around a dozen teams written down. This one was done during the first week of the NAB games and forgotten about.
With the NAB games now completed, this team suddenly starts to look a little better.
Seems cookie cutter ish with a few pods thrown in. (risky).
My concern is that it's possibly too mid price heavy. Can it create enough funds to build on. We seem to have limited cheap mid rookies to pick from so we are almost forced to go with the more expensive rookies.

R Laird, J Bartel, G Birchall, B Smith, M Brown, M Adams.
(M Hartley, T Ruggles.)

P Dangerfield, G Ablett, D Shiel, T Rockliff, O Wines, T Liberatore, D Wells, C Mills.
(G Hewett, C Adamson, R Davis.)

T Goldstein, M Gawn. (M King.)

M Barlow, M Robinson, A Hall, D Menzel, B Kennedy, S Kerridge.
(L McCarthy, A Tipungwuti.)

Thoughts - Forward line to risky ?
Thinking Mitch Robinson will get plenty of time in the midfield now due to Beams. A Hall's NAB scores very hard to ignore also.
Love the Robbo pick mate. Has been on my mind alot of late but can't quite get the team balance right with another forward in. I reckon he has the potential to go real well.

Bump. Would like some feedback
There are a lot of similarities. Same starting two rucks, 3/4 forwards (and 3/4 forward rookies), I have 3 of the big 5 midfielders. I don't have Fyfe and want to see how he goes with his back. I like your defenders. Top two are exactly the same as mine.

Much of this fantasy game is gut feeling along with "history", "another preseason", "more AFL exposure", lots of luck. Personally, my gut tells me that Simmo and Bartel aren't going to do well this year. I think they will both perform admirably, but I feel they will be rested with Queensland and WA games (not actually sure if both teams travel much). Carlton are on the major rebuild and have a few good young players they may (or may not) want to get games into them. At what cost? Possibly resting their veterans.

Right now you don't need to do much apart from wait until rookies are named. It is a very good looking side.

Like 95% of your players. However, strongly dislike Shiel. Don't think you can justify starting him when someone like Wines who is arguably better in every aspect and most importantly not completely vulnerable to tags, as well as being 30k cheaper.

Think we need to see your rookies on bench and your cash leftover for a better assessment. No Fyfe, Pendles but fair enough going with Shiel and Mitchell if you think they can break out. I have more concerns with Mitchell than Shiel due to competition at Syd for points.
Personally, I don't like Lonergan but understand the reasons behind picking him. You might be trying to squeeze in one too many a keeper (ie: 15 keepers) and losing quality in your starting premiums. Potentially you could lose Buddy or Hall and add Oliver and spread the cash a bit more (ie: upgrade Lonergan). Just my personal preference.

Make sure you have like the likes of McCarthy, Gresham, Hewett, Davis, Brown, Hartley and your team looks fine overall.

Cheers mate.
Confident he will go ok. He is a bit of a hot head so I'm a little concerned a suspension could be just around the corner.
Do you think having the banjo player and Hall in the forward line is a little too risky ?

I counted 12 Keepers... who are the last 3? Or are we counting the Sheridans, Libbas and Lonergans as keepers now?

Nice looking team with all the right rookies I think except Hartley - and maybe to a lesser extent, Oliver.

I see you avoided Goldy - is it because you want to get him later, or you think NicNat and Gawn will outscore him by years end? I only say that because you have chosen 2 set and forget ruckman without Goldy, so i'm thinking you think they will outscore Goldy in the end.

6k isn't much - I myself have 3k left and am nervous about it and think it's important to have at least 30-35k left when starting. Possibly move Brown down to Fwd and bring in Hartley for Menadue? Hartley has a much better JS than Menadue i think... but then again - he may not score as much when he plays. Menadue hasn't scored that high in NAB either though.

I don't mind you're team. Weitering and Dea a expensive rookies. I can imagine one would go with one or the other. But which one? Dea is a mature age footballer with some AFL experience, plays a half back role from what I have heard. Weitering is a man child who can take intercept marks and has Rowe and Jamison on the better two forwards. This could free him up a bit more to read the play? Mids are fine, Rucks are fine, Forwards are relatively fine but not sure on the Menzel pick. An idea could be to switch Bennedy into the forwards and pick up a cheaper mid rookie. That gives you around a $100k. Plus if you downgrade Weitering you could upgrade Libba into a Wines type.

I've been all over Robinson all pre season until nab 4 when he did a tagging role for a half on sj. In the guts I think he can go 105 but there is a chance he will drop some 50s.

Have 5k spare

Not too keen on Pendlebury so I'm considering downgrading him to Parish and then upgrading a def or fwd rookie to a premium.
Also I've decided that under no circumstances am I getting Rockliff, Bartel or Ablett.

Let me know what you think

Thoughts welcome fellas.
Libba in and out all day. Brains saying new game plan and matured talent around him will affect his scoring but he loves a cuddle or 8 a game so don't want to run the risk of missing out. Worst case can downgrade if he looks to be struggling. Went Ward over Wines just.

Like your team BC. Same fwd line and rucks as me. My only concern - Gibbo and Rich. I love Rich as a Lions fan but don't think he'll average enough to get into top 6 Def. However i hope he proves me wrong. Would spend a little of that coin to upgrade Gibson but that's personal preference. I'd go Simpson, Rance, someone with a more consistent scoring pattern.

good stuff mate, and good luck!

No Pendles?!?! And you're a Pies fan? Heretic!

Go say 50 hail Daicos's for your sins

Pretty good squad though. I like Gibbo on form - had him last year and he was OK in the end. Frustrating variance on his scores though. Rich should start well taking Beams's points, Ward and Priddis should be bankable premium POD scores. Like you, I'm taking the no-Goldy gamble so am hoping you are right.

Cheers, Yes no Pendles, An upgrade target. Think bucks will do what he can to shift him from the hustle and bustle when not needed in the guts early on. Another Half season fade out wont go down very well.
Think rich can start reasonably well till beams enters the fold. Hopefully the tag goes to Hanley or zorko.
Gibbo in for now but can be anyone under 500k.
Libba's the one im not sure on tbh.

I reckon Pendles might slot across half back a bit during the season, a la, Luke Hodge, to help our younger defenders, so I haven't picked Pendles either yet, but will wait and see.
