DELISTED North Melbourne big man Majak Daw will attempt to revive his AFL career at Melbourne after the Demons offered him the chance to train with the club for the rest of the pre-season.

Daw, 29, was among 11 Kangaroos delisted at the end of the 2020 season in which the club won just three games. He made his debut in 2013 and played 54 games across 11 years with the Roos.

Melbourne's offer to Daw comes after key forwards Ben Brown (knee) and Sam Weideman (leg) suffered injuries in the past fortnight that will rule them out of the early part of the season.

"As part of the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period we have offered Majak Daw an opportunity to train with us for the remainder of pre-season," Demons list manager Tim Lamb told melbournefc.com.au.

"We are looking to potentially further reinforce our tall stocks and Majak will be given the opportunity to impress during this period."

Wouldn’t have thought so considering Brown and Weideman are key forwards whilst Bennell is not..
Of course he isn't....but he is still a fwd and in a pinch...like losing your top 2 Key Fwd's for the first 6 or 7 or more rounds he may have added some firepower. Doesn't have to be a direct replacement for either player either....anyway it doesn't matter now.

Think he was cooked physically anyway. Plus the off-field issues meant he just isn’t cut out for the rigors of AFL footy, unfortunately.

Damien Hardwick has explained why Richmond has offered Jordan Gallucci the chance to train with the club.

The former first-round draft pick was delisted by Adelaide last year and is now spending some time with the Tigers as he strives to make the most of the lifeline.

Hardwick has revealed that the Tigers were keen on Gallucci in his draft year of 2016 but were unable to land him as the Crows pounced at pick 15.

The three-time premiership coach outlined the specific reasons why the small forward/midfielder has received an opportunity at Punt Road.

“He’s just a player that sort of suits the way we play,” Hardwick said on SEN Breakfast.

“Our (recruiting) guys really liked him in his draft year. We were hoping he was available but he went before our pick (which was used on Shai Bolton).

“He sort of plays like a Richmond player so that’s something we feel we can get. There’s no guarantees at the moment. He’s coming off a significant injury in an achilles rupture.

“He’s fit in well. We had a camp on the weekend up in Bright and he slotted in seamlessly and seems to have fit in with the group very well.

He couldn't play an acceptable amount of game time last year so he was always in trouble the second lists got cut and games went back to real lengths.

As great as he was his first couple of years his body is just not up to it.

Tasmania’s Rhyan Mansell has earned an AFL lifeline at the reigning premiers, with Richmond confirming the mature-age prospect has joined the club’s list.
Mansell, a speedy defender, joined the Tigers via the AFL’s pre-season supplementary selection period (SSP).

The 20-year-old beat fellow train-on players West Adelaide’s Nicholas Couroupis, delisted Tiger Derek Eggmolesse-Smith, Marist’s Josh Green and delisted Crow Jordan Gallucci for the first open Richmond list spot.

The Tigers have another position open, meaning one of the aforementioned quartet could still be a Richmond player in 2021. However the club could opt to delay its decision and instead pick up a player via the mid-season draft.

Mansell, who represented the Allies at 2018 AFL national Under 18 championships, was a key member of the Woodville-West Torrens side that claimed the 2020 SANFL league premiership, averaging 14.1 disposals, 5.7 intercepts and 78 Champion Data ranking points. He saved one of his best games for the grand final, racking up 19 touches, eight marks and five tackles.
