Essendon has signed forward Alec Waterman through the supplemental selection period.

Waterman, who was previously delisted by West Coast, kicked four goals for the Bombers in their practice match scrimmage against Carlton last Thursday.

He also booted 26 goals from 10 games in the WAFL last season and joins the Bombers on a one-year deal.

The Bombers have been looking for key forward depth across the summer, after losing Joe Daniher and Shaun McKernan in the trade period.

Waterman was a father-son selection in the 2014 National Draft for the Eagles, the son of dual premiership player Chris Waterman.

He was delisted at the end of 2016 having not played an AFL game.

Hurts seeing a bloke who should be at the Eagles.... play for the Bombers.

But wish him luck and hope he succeeds.

Like Timmy Watson. 😀
A bit different...

Watson was never meant to nor ever going to play at the Eagles even if we did pick him up in the draft. No link to the club.

Waterman though is the son of a Dual Premiership player, has a brother at the club, and was an Eagles player himself. If it wasn't for that bad case of Glandular Fever... He'd still be at the club I reckon.

Melbourne has invited Werribee backman Kye Declase to train with the club after another list spot became available.

Luckless Demons rookie Aaron Nietschke suffered a third ACL injury and will miss the rest of the season after going down in a VFL practice match against Richmond last Friday.

Defender Marty Hore has also been ruled out for the year with a ruptured ACL.

Declase will now get his chance to secure an AFL contract at Melbourne after being recommended by former Werribee coach and now Demons development coach Mark Williams.

SEN’s Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund says the mature-age defender is set to play in an upcoming trial game.

“The 24-year-old Werribee footballer by the name of Kye Declase, he’s 195cm and he’s one of 'Choco' Williams’ boys from Werribee,” Edmund told SEN Breakfast.

“He’s been phoned at the death and asked to train with Melbourne, play on Monday and you’re in contention for a spot.”

Demons trainee Majak Daw will also get his chance to impress against the Western Bulldogs.

“Melbourne Football Club could have as many as four list spots available,” Edmund said.

“Majak Daw is in the frame and he’s going to play on Monday against the Dogs in that trial game.”

Clubs have until March 9 to add players via the pre-season supplemental selection period.

Essendon has signed Kaine Baldwin on a 1 year deal under the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period rules.

The 194cm goalkicker joins the club from Glenelg. Baldwin gathered 18 disposals and seven marks in his SANFL under-18s debut, after averaging 21.8 disposals, 9.6 marks and 2.8 goals in a dominant under-16s campaign in 2018.

Was touted as the potential number one pick a couple of years ago prior to doing two ACLs on the trot. Hope he gets a good run at it. If you watch his highlights, the kid can play.
