Apparently didnt like his exit interview where he was told he needed to improve. One of my best SC pick ups.

Dont think 15 and Burton offered, Port enquired about Burton as he is a SA boy and girlfriend lives in SA (are they spying on him!).

Burton 21 and Chad 25. Staright swap is best Port should expect and even then Hawks will get lashed as Burton is a talent and well liked.
Straight swap for a contracted 25 year old?

Could get a job as Ports list manager with that logic ?

Will take a top 10 + a player to get him and I don’t think the hawks have the currency for it this year. Reckon he plays for Port in 2019 and we go around the trade table again.

Yeah but they remained on their clubs list for the whole time, I’m struggling to think of an example but I think if a player has a year out of the league completely their price resets.
No idea to be honest , you might have to shoot them a email.

They won't make Mummy and Clarke too cheap though.

Didn't McCarthy stand out for a year before Giants let him go to Freo ?

All hypothetical I guess, let’s see if he gets drafted first. McCarthy stood out for a year but he was still listed at the time (then was traded if memory serves correctly).

All we need is Tippett to return then our ducks are sorted :) Mummy , Tip Rat & Clarke.

Lots of $$$ for those nice F/M presents

Don't really rate Burton at all, just a nothing player, at this stage just a worse version of Scharenberg and without the KPD defensive capability.

Burton for Wingard straight swap is ridiculous, Burton + Pick 15 for Wingard is reasonable but unders, Burton + Pick 15 + 2019 1st round pick is overs.

Wingard for Burton + Pick 15 + 2019 2nd round pick is about right

Wow would be very SC relevant if he ended up as a R1 by the start of the season! I’m assuming he'd be $120k-ish:

Similar to Mumford I suspect , they would use his 2016 Average of 52.54, so approximately $ 292,042.43 less any discount.

Full 30% would see him at $ 204,429.70.

From memory Bennell and JOM didn't receive full discounts for missing 2 years.
At 120k you pick him 100%, at 204k it gets very tricky and you'd almost have to pass. Can see him getting a Vardy ish average of 55-65 playing as a 2nd ruck.

If he's 1st ruck at either price you pick him.

You're taking the piss, right? Becoming a very important part of the Hawks structure and backline.

Would rather we keep Burton over the Chad. The kid would have gone top 15 if it wasn't for his leg and although he didn't reach the same heights this season, his 2017 was very good.

I am not sold on Wingard, don't worry I would be more than happy with him as a Hawk but I wouldn't sell the farm to get him off Port this season.

I feel like the rise of Sicily hindered Burton’s development to the point he almost lost his identity. When Hodge left, Burton seemed the obvious replacement to play the qtr back role but then there were talks of him playing forward and then as Prochard suggested, he lost his ability to impact a game. I probably didn’t watch him as closely as you Jack but I definitely watched him as I took a chance on him in my SC for a few weeks and he didn’t show much!

Personally I’d give him up for Chad. Wingard is a match winner on his day, whereas Burton almost seems surplus to Hawthorn’s needs.

Ooh!

DEAL DONE
Dan Hannebury is now a Saint. The Saints have given up pick 39 and a 2019 second-round draft selection, while Sydney have parted with pick 28 in the process.

Wow there's a combo, would be a go-er too if they are all playing and both Dusty and Danger get forward status, Starting Premo lineup of Laird in defence, Titch, Oliver, Cripps in the mids and Dusty and Danger forward. Make some cash and upgrade to Gawn and the second best ruck for R2.

Didn’t get much for him then, swapping this years and next years second rounders + pick 39. Reshuffling the deck chairs really, although it seems Sydney want draft points for academy and/or father son selections.

I'm still of the opinion that Burton can play at his 2017 form and even improve beyond that into the future.
Probably a tad biased but I'd be pretty disappointed to see him go, and I don't think Wingard is worth Burto and 2 first rounders, especially now that Scully in is the mix.
However, I did see that the Hawks are looking at Jack Scrimshaw from the Suns as a Birchall style player which sheds some light on why they're willing to let Burto go.

If his body holds up this will be a good deal for Carlton (and a fair one for the Giants)

CARLTON has secured a deal for Greater Western Sydney midfielder Will Setterfield.
The Blues sent their future second-round pick as well as pick No.43 in this year's NAB AFL Draft to GWS, in exchange for the 190cm on-baller and pick No.71.

A 20 year old who was pick 5. Massive Bargain for the blues.

This is not having a go at u or Burton, but what purpose do you think he serves in the backline?
