All good thanks mate, played a year longer than I expected tbh.

Played a great game on the weekend matched up against Nick Larkey - despite the big height difference he managed to keep him quiet using all his experience/ smart body positioning/ reading the play.

In his prime, his kicking was just unreal - just made a different sound off the boot & the ball travelled so quickly through the air/great penetration:-

Premiership captain, top shelf defender, great clubman, hates any attention - just goes about his business with a minimum of fuss.

Well played Bunga, been a pleasure watching your career
Been a fantastic career for Shannon Hurn... 18 years at an extremely high level for most of it, and Captaining his club to a flag as well.

Enjoy your retirement Bunga!!

GEELONG ruckman Jonathon Ceglar has announced his retirement, effective immediately, after 13 seasons in the AFL at three clubs.

Originally pre-listed by Gold Coast before being immediately traded to Collingwood in 2010, Ceglar never cracked the senior side at the Magpies and was delisted in 2012 before landing at Hawthorn.

He played 101 times for the Hawks and was at the club for their premiership treble in 2013, 2014 and 2015, although he never played a Grand Final. He cruelly missed the 2014 decider after playing in the qualifying and preliminary finals, making way for Ben McEvoy for the Hawks' massive win over the Swans on the last Saturday of September.

Traded to the Cats at the end of 2021, Ceglar played nine games for Geelong, including six this year.

He finishes his career with 110 AFL games to his name.

"I have loved every minute of my career and feel fortunate to have represented three great clubs," he said.

"I'm grateful to have played the game for as long as I have and while I would have loved to have played on, my body hasn't allowed me to continue.

"Playing footy for 13 years has been a significant part of my life, I can't thank Hawthorn Football Club enough and the people I met there, and then to be able to come to Geelong later in my footy career has been one of the best decisions I've made."

PORT Adelaide skipper Tom Jonas has announced that he will retire at the end of the season after a difficult year that saw him dropped from the Power's senior side.

Jonas, who was named Port's co-captain in 2019 before taking the role solo a year later, has played just 12 AFL games this year due to a combination of injury, suspension and selection.

The 32-year-old was dropped in round 12, a move coach Ken Hinkley labelled "a significant call", and has been in and out of the senior side ever since.

He's played in the Power's past three matches as the club eyes a run at a first premiership in almost two decades next month.

Originally drafted as a rookie from SANFL club Norwood in 2010, Jonas made his senior debut in Port's historic 165-point loss to Hawthorn in round 21, 2011.

Mighty Jonas flexes his range in rare opportunity
Tom Jonas creeps forward from the backline and is rewarded with this beauty
He solidified his place in the side by playing 21 games in 2013 and had been an important part of the Power's defence ever since.

"It's been a fair rollercoaster but for me there have been so many more ups than downs," Jonas said.

"You reflect on moments that maybe at the time were tough and challenging, exhausting or sad, but ultimately, they’re what makes you appreciate the good times and they’re what make you galvanise relationships and friendships with everyone that you spend time with along the way.

"The good thing about this for me is that the final chapter hasn’t been written, and that’s really exciting. For me it was about removing any distraction from the team with what we’ve got to look forward to in the month ahead."

He is one of just 11 men to have played more than 200 AFL games for the Power.

More to come ...

WESTERN Bulldog Josh Bruce has announced his retirement on Tuesday, effectively immediately.

The versatile former Saint and Giant played eight games this year to bring his career tally to 163 across 13 seasons at three clubs, but had been sidelined with a knee injury since facing GWS in round 20.

That match was his 50th as a Bulldog after 14 at Greater Western Sydney and 99 at St Kilda where he kicked 50 goals in 2015.

Bruce was the Dogs' leading goalkicker in 2021 with 48 for the season, before being moved into a defensive role as Luke Beveridge's forward line became stacked with talls Aaron Naughton, Jamara Ugle-Hagan and then Rory Lobb this year.

Dogs lose another as luckless defender hurts knee
The Bulldogs suffer a worrying injury concern with Josh Bruce leaving the field after clutching his knee
"I moved out of home at 17 to Sydney as a skinny, hyperactive little kid and I'm finishing here as a not-so-skinny, still hyperactive grown man, with two beautiful kids," Bruce said on the Bulldogs website on Tuesday.

"I can rest my head on the pillow knowing that every gruelling pre-season session, every rehab session and every game at three clubs, I gave my absolute everything.

"The move to the Bulldogs has been one of the most defining moments of my life. I've got so many connections through Rohan Smith coaching me at U16's level, living with Stewart Edge in my first year at GWS and time spent with Ameet Bains at St Kilda.

"It's fitting to finish up here and I look forward to exploring some coaching opportunities into the future."

Western Bulldogs forward Josh Bruce kicks 48 goals from 20 games
Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge praised Bruce for his time at the Whitten Oval since crossing from Moorabbin at the end of 2019.

"Josh is an outstanding team man and we've been fortunate to have him represent the Bulldogs for the past four seasons," Beveridge said.

"Despite facing his fair share of adversity, Josh entered the building every day with the same sense of energy and enthusiasm which lifted the playing group and staff around him.

"Josh is a much-loved figure. He should be proud of his time with us, and of everything he achieved in his career which spanned 13 years."
