SWANS REPORTEDLY FRONTRUNNERS FOR GRUNDY

The Sydney Swans are reportedly the frontrunners for Brodie Grundy’s services.

While Grundy met with Port Adelaide recently, the Herald Sun reported on Saturday it had emerged the Swans were now the favourites to secure his services.

Grundy is expected to seek a trade at season’s end after the prospect of partnering Max Gawn in the ruck at Melbourne soured throughout 2023.

Sydney’s salary cap space has been aided by the retirements of Lance Franklin and Tom Hickey.

The club has locked away several of its stars on long-term deals and currently holds picks 21 and 29 in this year’s draft.

Grundy has four seasons to run on a deal he signed while at Collingwood, with both the Pies and Demons currently paying his salary.

Which delisted free agents do you think will get an AFL list spot next year? Where do you think they will end up?

P.S. Thank you mods for moving this into the existing thread. I completely forgot that this was already here. I promise I'll get better at remembering about existing threads. 💛

I wonder when Richmond will announce who will be our new coach.
Down to 2 now :-

The Richmond coaching job is down to two with Andrew McQualter and Adem Yze shaping as the leading contenders for the role.

The Tigers are understood to be reaching the final stages of their process to find the full-time successor for Damien Hardwick.

Essendon assistant Daniel Giansiracusa, Hawthorn assistant Chris Newman and Richmond assistant Xavier Clarke had also been on the Tigers' coaching shortlist but are understood to no longer be part of the process.

Appreciate Mini for taking over during a big of a topsy-turvy season, but I'm really hoping we take a punt on Yze.

I think McQualter is too much of Dimma incarnate and we're trying to usher in a new era of Tigers since the 6-6-6 and the stand rule killed that kind of chaotic, frenetic gamestyle we had.

Was also thinking that Newman was in the hot seat for it, so definitely a little disappointed to hear that he's no longer in the running at all.

ESSENDON defender Brandon Zerk-Thatcher wants to play for Port Adelaide as the Power look to bolster their key defensive stocks this trade period.

Zerk-Thatcher is understood to have settled on wanting a trade to the Power and to head home to South Australia, where he has a family pull.

The out-of-contract backman has had a three-year offer in front of him from the Bombers for some time and has been weighing his decision on his future.

However the 25-year-old will seek a trade back home and join the Power, who have also been the nominated preferred new home of Esava Ratugolea.

Zerk-Thatcher played 22 games for the Bombers this season, the most of his career at the club after being drafted by Essendon in 2017. He has tallied 51 games for the club.

Ratugolea met with the Power and Hawks at the end of his season with Geelong before deciding on Port Adelaide as his preferred destination, having wanted to be traded to the Cats last year while in contract.

Starting R2 for next season
I had been thinking this all year until I saw the full season analysis in another thread that said Grundy had a lower SC average year on year for five years running... Obviously he'd been starting from an absolutely elite base but that screams red flags.

Of those you'd say this is the only season where opportunity was the limiting factor, although all four seasons before ranged from elite to at least acceptable in 2022, so if he can get back even just to that he's massively unders. But are injuries a concern? He's had a few the last couple of years. Will be an interesting decision for sure.
