A couple of years in the klink will do that, remarkable story though and all the best to him.

Only just realised that he's rookie priced, is he best 22 come round 1?
I’d imagine so, a lot would have had to go wrong in the off season for him to not be there you’d think.

Fairly rare but prison does wonders for some people.

Baring serious injury, Pickett will play round 1.

Pickett gives Richmond another midfield rotation and allows Dusty to move forward.

Hardwick has a high opinion of Pickett abilities...

The Grand Final moment that had Riewoldt on the verge of tears

Hardwick suggested Pickett’s performance in the VFL Grand Final was enough to help him jump over Jack Ross and Kamdyn McIntosh — who both had been pulled out of the VFL clash — and earn his first Tiger guernsey.

“Marlion played that game and did some things that looked a class above. So I think as coaches we had him ranked fourth and then by the end of that game thought ‘could this happen?’” he said on Fox Footy’s On The Couch.

“(The) Tuesday night we were trying to think of reasons not to play him, thank god we did.

“He just creates time and space and puts people in space.

“Bloody Jack (Riewoldt) is a annoying. He walks in match committee and wants to have his say. He was dying to pick him.

“It’s a credit to once again Marlion, but a lot of people at our footy club to get them over. He gets the medal but those people deserve to get a pat on the back.”

I look forward to owning and following Pickett, less enthused about Dusty going forward.

dusty wouldn’t be a must have anyway would he....
Being a Tiger Tragic, I am biased towards Dusty.

Dusty is the fulcrum that Richmond use in the forward half, I guess the issue is 'How much is a trade worth' to bring him in?

It could be argued that Dusty is in sleep mode until the second half of the season then again if he starts 2020 like 2017........

Very good point and really the main question with all our premiums.
It might look nice saving $50k on a player but you have already missed some of their good scores and used a trade which could be valued around $150k-$200k in other situations.
As a very general guide my thinking is that a full priced premium would have to average 15 points below their price and/or drop about $150k for non selection to be a success in the first half of the year so you can then trade them in or decide to give them a miss.
What do others think?

Simplistically I've taken the view that you need at least 3 of the big guns at full price for your C/VC options.... top dollar needs to be paid for them. For everyone else, I try to look for value where it exists... Fyfe last year, Oliver this year...

Looking at Dusty's history its certainly hard to see his average dropping which actually (in my eyes) does make him a pretty good starting selection. I'm waiting for SC to open on Wednesday to start looking at what my team will look like, but its pretty likely Dusty will be in it! In my head I actually thought Dusty's 2019 was much better than it was so was thinking he was potentially over priced...

The thing with Dusty is, looking at that table, you're buying a solid 21/22 games at 100 with upside.
That is a premium forward, full stop. At only 540k don't think too hard about it: lock it in, save the trade.

My initial reaction is that 15/$150k both feel pretty high ... but $50k is very likely not enough, given that the MN decline means you've usually got a $40-50k price decline coming even on a fairly priced premium option.

I mentioned a week or so ago that I value a trade at about 150 points, so personally I'd likely be backing into a number in total point terms, and then comparing against that.

is it really worth paying the extra 15 grand for comben over Conroy?

unfortunately at the moment I have had to have Conroy instead
RUC/FWD could come in handy but a lot will change with your team over the next two months anyway before the season starts. I wouldn’t worry about which non-playing ruck you have at R3 at the moment.
