Think its Scott and Warner/Bergman to Weightman and Madden unless something drastic changes, dont see much point getting a 600k+ mid with a bye to come, cash up and go boom Round 13 and 14.
Never really understood this argument as long as the trade in suits your bye structure. Either way you miss there bye score. What am I missing?

McNeil/Scott to Lloyd/Madden for me

Trades get locked in on the Fri night (loving the Thurs teams...!)

Leaves me with two of RCD/Poulter/Byrnes needed on field.

Can cash Flynn out to get Zerrett. Then need to hope Highmore/Waterman can get games so I can perhaps grab Walsh

Well theoretically you could trade in a stepping stone with a later bye and slingshot them, meaning you don't miss that score. But yes, as long as they suit your bye structure and you're not leaving yourself short...

It’s all a bit relative to the state of your team.
Plenty of more sophisticated ways to look at it, but as a base starting point, one option:

Count the number of slots in your on-field 22 that aren’t premos ( n )

Assume you’ll need two trades per upgrade (2n)

(Current trades left - 2n) leaves you with how many trades?
Oh cool, never thought of it like that before (in a formula)
thanks

Moved Laird to the mids last week to get Ridley.
Am considering leaving him there for the duration (not locked but certainly loaded).
Is this crazy?

I think perfectly rational leading up to the byes but probably not afterwards.

It's not Laird who is taking up the mid spot but your worst def (or, depending on your trade situation, the last def you trade in). DEFs are good this year but they're still not as good as mids. If your team looks better now with Laird in the mids and it's more convenient for upgrades etc I say do it that way and then trade your worst mid to Neale when he comes back and swing Laird back to def line then.

I like this, potentially looking for Neale back in then.

I can see where you are coming from - I've had the Laird in mid set up for about 4 rounds... as my defence was the first line i filled (aside from ruck).

I guess the option always has been to upgrade the worst defender to an elite mid and send Laird back to defence.

My line as it stands is:
Lloyd Ridley Daniel Ryan Stewart Short

At this point, it would be Short right?

Yeah Short would be the one I'd trade. And assuming have a scary RD13 like most of us I would try to do it in a clever way that helped with that.

THanks stephen,

Might be when I have to look at Guthrie, Duncan or Kelly at that point.

Any thoughts on Buddy Franklin at $380K?
He's an easy trade-up from Warner & with Sydney emerging as a live finals hope, I can't see them resting him too much from here on.

Quick question, how many trades would be safe or good going into this round?

Im going in with 17 and thinking of using two, which leaves 15 after round 11?
Am i burning too many trades too early orrr?
Yeah the 2n works if cash gen is looking okay, 2.5 better if not (no bank rookies looking like 280k rather than 350k). Also at this point 2.5n + 4 would safe, 2.5n + 2 would be cutting it close.
For me post trades this round I'm 2.5(3) +4 = 11.5 which is less than 13, but assumes I hold all of Harmes, Daniher and Heeney and make no slingshot trades (I'll do 1). So yeah, I'm pushing the limit.

How many games will he actually play, would be my concern, either through injury or just player management. Great as an F7 if you can manage such luxuries, but I doubt he plays more than 8 games before finals.

How great was it seeing him being able to tear a game a part again. Hope he stays injury free.

So I need to find 8k to be able to upgrade Jordon to Dusty.

Am I insane for considering Jez Cameron to Heeney to make it happen?

This frees up 70k, which is exactly the same as a McNeil > Weightman move would generate. Don't think I'm keen on Madden for JS reasons... Other options would be selling Rowe but he's still got cash to make.

Below is the team for context.

Wouldn’t think it’s worth it as your low on trades and not really getting much for them in team improvement.

Slightly more thought to this week.

Thinking
Jordan > Cerra.
Atkins > Weightman.

Suits my byes slightly better and banks $250k for the byes.

Atkins form is dropping and he needs to be more during byes anyway.

Then next round no trades and hold tight

I love him. But, as yourself how likely it is that you've just missed his best scored of the year?
