Rd5 W Milera $467,700 BE 78
With that injury affected game of 41, his Rd6 projection is $451,300 BE 138.
Thx M8...thats good hasn't dropped much at all, maybe a straight swap with Kelly via Moore. Cheers

Interested to hear thoughts on Baker JS. Can obviously score, but will he be in the team longe enough?
Wish i could be more definite here, but some idle thoughts: Tiges have what could be called a ridiculous over-supply of small forward types with similar games played all vying for 3 or 4 spots. Butler, Rioli, Castagna, Higgins, Bolton, Baker. interestingly though we have 5 of them in at the same time at the moment. For mine, Baker will keep Butler out on current form, he is much cleaner and better able to rotate thru the mid. Castagna is a bit of a poor kick at goal but his tackling is as good as ever so not sure if he would be dropped before Baker. Bolton has been around for a while now and has been unable to cement a spot when he has got senior games, this could change as he is currently showing more of his creative talent in the seniors. I think five is the limit with these types, we have JR8 to come back in so will probably drop back to 4 smalls. I think Baker may hold his spot over Bolton [as Jack has his creativity] and if he does he should keep it for a chunk of footy.

I could also be completely wrong :p

Yeah, as an owner too, Milera has to go. BTW, who is Seagull?
I'm thinking the logical replacement choice would be Laird, as Milera might have been taking some of his SC points. Since Milera didn't play mainly in the second half, I thought Laird might have scored more in the second half, to prove my theory, but Laird scored the same (1/2 time 47pts and 2nd half 46 points), hmmm.
Then I'm thinking why is Laird scoring so low this year, 2 scores under 90 for a 95 avg and last year he averaged 108 and the year before 100. He's 25yo, so age is not the problem.
I checked Lairds scoring last year and he has scored under 90 pts 4 times, so I suppose it's not unusual for him to score below 90, so he seems like a genuine bargain priced player.
Am I on the right track?
We used Gibbs at HB instead this week, Milera played mid/fwd. I imagine Laird continues this form of 95-100.

Thoughts on Ross' place in your side? I fear that he is the one that goes out for Cotchin when he returns.

Already used 5 trades and still have 9 rookies on field.

Too much uncertainty on the Richmond rookies JS for me so might try and upgrade Parker & Clark.

Not sure when Cavarra/Corbett types might appear let alone their JS & security , Parker could stall and go backwards.

Happy to wait on Tim Kelly with the Hutchings tag looming , so might take a punt on Caleb Daniel.

As for defence it will be one of Hurn/Laird/Sicily depending on price and BE.

Will then monitor Hately & Hayes the following week with a view of fixing Scott and/or Wagner.

Will then need to hope my onfield rookies can get to $ 350k and allow $ 150k per upgrade (probably more for the mids).

Will then need my 7 bench rookies to make about $ 150k each to afford these upgrades , not confident that will happen with Burgess , Scott/Wagner & Setterfield at the moment but hopefully they take a leaf out of Gibbons book.

That's the plan.

It would be harsh wouldn't it, but yeah considering roles i think Ross is gonna be unlucky. Ellis kinda came in with Houli out, [kinda cos he has played more wing than hb] and has kept his spot with Houli coming back in. He would be the only one i think we might squeeze out besides Ross, but Ellis is completely outside, and in pretty good form. So yeah based on role, i think Ross. There could be some kind of wild card move i guess that has dusty and cotch share onball/fwd resting roles and maybe keep Ross in, but i just don't know as one fwd will already be unlucky with Jack coming in. Very tough break for some young Tigers at selection this week.

Is Cotchin due back this round...? If not, we may still be uncertain on Ross' position in their best 22 as he's on the bubble.

Never seen so many trades of perfectly fit people, having 1 or 2 bad games. Expectations are really high this year, by the end of the byes, the No trade club thread should reappear..?
Agreed, I've used 3 at the end of round 5. All corrective. I felt bad about making the bottom 2 this weekend but it seems like I've used less than most others on this board going by the poll above. That makes me happy.

Balta - Parker
Gibbons - Stack
Sweet - Obrien

I am holding/have held Brayshaw, Dunkley, Oliver, Gawn, Heeney, Hore, Collins.

Can't believe people are trading their premos. In my opinion that is something to do once you have a completed team or to slingshot at the byes.

Personally going to pass him and just wait an extra week for Hately or Hayes.

Ross is out as soon as Cotchin is ready unless he plays unbelievably well (a.l.a Drew).

Am also in the same boat, thinking of maybe Brayshaw > Merrett, Fyfe or Bont cost about $60,000 or go down to Rockliff and make about $70k. My head says go a premium. But I also need to get some rookies off the field, so maybe Gus might get one more week.
Brayshaw is a premium. Dees have started poorly. They (and he) will get better.

Do you see them finishing the season at 4 wins - 18 losses?

Darling HAS to go this week just working the best way around it and whether it’s to T.Kelly, Daniels or Walters. The trade to get it done will be 1 of 2 options at this stage:

1) Collins or Clark to Baker (leaving Baker and Drew on the field at F5 and F6)
2) Goldy to T.Kelly/Daniel (allowing Drew to go to M8 or M9 (to rotate with Constable), Setterfield to F7, O’Brien to R2 and Moore to F6.

Which is more advised?

Goldy may average the same as Tkelly and definitely more than Daniel. Waste of a trade.

Have used 3 trades. Only have 6 rookies to get off the field (+ Moore, most likely) including Walsh who is scoring like a premo anyway.

Have to get rid of Sheed. Probably a mistake to get him, but he allowed me to bring in Lloyd and get rid of Darling so can't say it's been a complete loss. Potentially Scott > Ross + Sheed > Oliver/Fyfe/Coniglio.

Agreed about not trading your premos but IMHO, Darling is not a premo this season. I think we've had enough data and games to see that and he will be gone from my team once lockout is over. Probably a couple of rounds to late oh wells.

I'm in a similar position. Made 2 trades, 6 rookies to move off the ground + Moore (not including Walsh) and trade Darling. I'm planning to make 8 trades over the next month, but we'll see how that goes :cautious:

It's a double-edged sword with regards to how many trades should one have used up to this point, rightly or wrongly.

One of the major driver behind this is whether you're aiming for highest possible overall ranking or have league's ambitions at the top of your priority. If going for overall, then the primary objective is always to get to a 'completed' team as quickly as practical whereas league players are generally more 'conservative' with their trades in the early part of the season.

Your early season aspiration will determine how aggressive you are with regards to using your trades. With that says, some will be forced into realigning their focus after the early rounds which may see them revert to a more conservative trading philosophy.

Personally, I always start off with the highest overall ranking as my objective and reassess around the MBRs.

It’s also Reilly O’Brien at R2 on field over Baker at F6 though that has to be taken into consideration in the trade too.

Probably timely to ask - has Wingard been forgotten about as an upgrade target, or ruled out as unappealing?

Would be interested if anyone knows his role (/sees it in today’s game!).
