Strategy Round 6: Trades

Trades done: McNeal to Junior Macrae (done yesterday) and Campbell to Luke Ryan

Clark & Campbell out for Neale & Mcreery for me. Painstakingly 3k short of Oliver over Neale but I’ll back my gut that Neales turned the corner and hope Clarry throws in some quiet ones in the near future.

They both could have a rough month looking at the fixture but can't help thinking they need to be in our teams anyway.

Expecting a low-medium score from Warner today (60-70), with JPK/Parker/Mills and now Rowbottom as the inclusion, Warner will have very limited CBA attendance. Good thing he's playing against GC.

Had Warner > Zorko planned, but Campbell sub forced a trade for me.

With Dunkley going down (not confirmed but highly likely) I've decided to go Brockman > Ziebull with my 2nd trade. If Dunkley is out then him > RO'B next week and Flynn > Marshall the week after. Rookie downgrades to Macrae then Rantall

Round 6 trades are locked in after confirmation Brockman is playing VFL today: Howe + Brockman -> Oliver + Mansell

Went with Oliver first, as Melbourne have a real flat-track bully type schedule after this round and I want to see another good game from Neale before jumping on board.

Round 7 will likely be Dunkley + Rookie -> Neale + Junior Macrae, if the latter two get through the game and play well enough this week.

Round 8 will likely be the beginning of the one-down weeks as the cows start mooing, although I'll still have a hole to fill down back most likely.

Eh, same as Short last week. Can't do anything from defense if it never gets there. Didn't think Geelong had this in them after the first month though!

I went Clark & Gulden to Mansell & Oliver. Have Dunkley so went an upgrade this week in case it's sideways city next week. Gotta say, was iffy about punting Gulden early, but his score so far has made me feel a bit better about it.

My team has no shortage of players to trade out:
Clark 294000 - The main one I think for me, assuming he's not back. With Ridley/Houston/Highmore/Clark/Kosi, I'll likely need to trade in defence to avoid donuts, Clark > Jones is a very easy trade to enable my 2nd trade of the week.
Phillips 388800 - Probably the other who I urgently need to trade, especially with a 55 in his rotation now. Easily my worst starting pick (ok maybe Neale who I got rid of after Round 2)


On a personal note, my targets are:
Jones 139800 DEF - Obvious rookie trade in target this week, especially with my issues in defence.
Lloyd 596400 DEF / Ryan 543000 DEF - Actually looks like my structure won't allow me to get either, unless Houston was suddenly ruled out for a lengthy time. Ryan is going to benefit with Logue in the team, and they have North this week. Definite trade in candidate!
Neale 580200 MID / Brayshaw 482700 MID / Oliver 591600 MID / Walsh 568500 MID - For me, I'll be getting one of these four and it looks like my current trades of Clark > Jones, Phillips > ??? leave me $500 short of Neale (and 12K short of Olvier)

Ended up sticking with the two outs, but with Jones injured, grabbed a defender premium instead of a mid premium, with Finlay Macrae.

Phillips > Macrae

Hopefully Logue/Cox can stay fit, so Ryan can intercept as he likes (and keep taking most of the kick-ins too)

Couldn't afford Lloyd so at least he didn't go huge.

Yeah Jarrod Berry probably back next week is the danger. Of the emergencies Thomas Berry hasn't shown much IMO, Matho is old news I can't see him breaking in. Sharp could well be given another chance at some point.

I actually like Dev's chances at getting a fair chunk of games over the season, maybe not all at once. I really rated him as a junior and definitely has scoring ability.

Could do worse I reckon, I'm certainly tempted.

Man I should have gone with my gut here. Kid can play.

If they were all to rise to $ 275k each (1 might) , that would only make a extra $ 937,200.00

Think my season is right royally screwed again.

Might need to look in the $ 400k Bargain Bins for upgrades.

Got sucked in by Mansell by the looks of things , another dead rookie coming up.

Highmore , Jones , Mansell D6-8 is now probably a very dumb decision.

Was close to just making the one trade but thought I’d take a punt on Brayshaw and remove a rookie on field. Didn’t pay off as I would’ve liked with Powell scoring so well.

Tossed up Sat night between bringing in:
- A: Bergman and Maynard/Short/Ryan; or
- B: Mansell and Oliver.

Ended up Option B, not really liking Mansell but I want to save my last 2 defender upgrades for Lloyd and Mills (who unfortunately were locked out).

Ah well no donut for me now this week. I was adamant it was a good idea at the time, banked $200k.
