Strategy Round 6: Trades

Looking to fix up my ruck problem, currently have Gawn, Flynn and Meek.
Thinking of trading out Meek for a bubble boy ruck thats averaging 130, Mummy (420k), the next time he's named to play.
Will give me a permanent floating doughnut, Mummy or Flynn.
Haven't seen anyone else thinking along these lines, so am l the smartest or dumbest kid in the class?
Feedback appreciated.

It's not such a bad thought really, as it seems like one of them plays every week.
Until Leon throws in Briggs for lols or Preuss comes back leaving you with two expensive donuts .

The main issue I see with it is that it locks up a lot of cash in two players that only get you one score each week, whereas that $420k for Mumford could deliver a nearly-keeper on another line.

I went early on Jones, so looking at potential rookie options this week.

Mansell (Rich) - $102,400 DEF - AVG 46.5 - Has done some nice things from what I've seen, also made some mistakes. Just struggling to see any real scoring ability or job security.

McCreery (Coll) - $117.300 FWD - AVG 57.0 - Has looked decent, kicking goals and laying tackles. Injuries at the club surely help and the fans yelling play the youth. As always guys who play deep forward are risky for both scoring potential and JS. Think he actually presents as the best rookie behind Jones this week and could well end up being the Aarts of 2020. Who ended up being a great pick up under similar circumstances. Love the fact he layed 7 tackles inside the F50 on debut - that's the type of thing coaches love.

Jaxon Prior (Bris) - $123,900 DEF - AVG 45 - 10 disposals and 2 goals in the slop not a bad effort, to be honest don't know much about him and didn't see this game. Can't imagine his JS is great.

Connor Stone (GWS) - $144,300 FWD - AVG 45.5 - Played in two games for two wins at the club, has to bode well for his chances for sticking around for a while. Seems like a guy who can play multiple positions, 11 and 13 possessions so far. Not doing a whole lot.

Other options presenting

Go early candidates - Macrae, Reid (ESS)

Go late candidates - Bergman $158k, Waterman $148k

Already own Bergman and reckon I've missed the boat on Waterman. Not prepared to go early on Macrae or Reid. So if you're like me and went early on Jones, I'd say McCreery is looking the best of the bunch to choose from. If named again may want to consider Mansell at basement price. Stone plays the Friday night game but not sure I can take him at a premium price.

Potentially the best rookie option could be one that half of us have already traded out, Highmore.
117k, -68 b/e, projected at a 60k price rise, if he gets called back into the team would you take the punt on him holding his spot this time?

Flynn played 3 qtrs in the twos, as they 'managed' his ankle. Not sure if thats a good or bad sign for the severity of the injury. Also you need to consider that Briggs is also in line for some ruck time this year and should he come in, your handcuff idea is suddenly in tatters. It's great in theory, but there is so much risk.

With his B/E I assumed most would still be holding like myself! 100% though certainly an option if named and probably the best behind Jones. Would love to see him pop up on team sheets.

Does his price have much further to fall? Is his calf an ongoing worry?

Is Lloyd still worth it (seems to be struggling to hit 100)or is Bowes better for the defender role?

I'd still go Lloyd ( Probs not this week due to b/e - he will be priced well sooon) as he is the surer thing imo - but Bowes does look good, just unsure if its sustainable for the whole year.

My trades are looking to be Warner - Oliver , Cambell to Jones with some DPP magic. Idea is next week I can go Gulden/Berry for Freoshaw and a rookie. Only problem would be is if Freoshaw goes huge but im hoping they tag him again this week.

590K currently (started at 624K) BE 96 this week.

Scored 133 v suns on the weekend, 116 the previous week v Bris.

We know the dogs are playing a very fantasy friendly style again this year/ certainly look a top 4 team to me.

Has Giants (no de Boer)/ Tigers/ Carlton next 3.

Looks in great shape, whilst Neale looked better on the weekend (huge score) I am just not sold on him yet.

I already have Macrae (& Dunkley in the fwds) & Oliver - Brayshaw is a nice price but his inability to beat the tag is a worry (think Turner is sure to go to him, too small for Fyfe who would just take him fwd at every opportunity).

Bont averaged 116.1 last year & 114.7 the previous year so proven super premium mid, strong durability record & the new rules don't really impact him like Cripps for example.

Ticks a lot of boxes for mine.

Bont and Oliver are pretty much equal in price/average/scoring ability, one will come into my team this week. I was leaning to Oliver who is probably slightly more consistent, but would love to grab both.

Review of options ahead of Round 6. Prediction for rest of year, current price and predicted round 6 price movement, split by uber-prem, premium and near-premium for each position. Rest of year prediction based on exposed 2021 form + expectation going in to the season. (Ignore the green names, those are just in my side).

Of the Uber premiums (players expected to go 10 points more than the 6th(D/F)/8th(M)/2nd(R) for their position), Macrae, Gawn and Dunkley all on the up and need to be in your teams ASAP (pity Gawn isn't in mine yet, and won't be for some time), whereas Lloyd and Grundy can expect further price falls.

Premiums are anyone within 5 points of the 6th(D/F)/8th(M)/2nd(R) for their position up to an uber, whilst near premiums are within 10 points of that.

Tom Stewart and Luke Ryan look like good buys in defence.

Walsh is still a great price in the mids and has shown all likelihood now that he'll be a top 8 mid. Tom Mitchell will be at a great price in a few weeks.

Forwards are still a mess. Danger will drop considerably before hitting his straps. Ziebell is still worth getting for those that don't have him. Only 4 players predicted to average over 100 here, means un-performing forwards in your team are not as big an issue as perhaps in other lines.

Have him, and still wish i spent a bit more for Macrae.

Can post huge ones but can have shockers too.

Macrae is so much more consistent.

SCS02 has some very competitive coaches this year. I'm 3rd on points but 9th on the H2H ladder

I know, lets tone down the competitiveness. Had 6500 points against me and I am ranked 3-4 against, someone had 6600. Fortunate to be 3-0 after the weekend.

Unfortunate we went head to head early Leroy.

Worpel with a very heavy tag on him and yeh Curnow shut him down the week before. What is strange is De Boer tagged him in round 2 and he beat his tag comfortably.

MDB tagged Brayshaw in the last quarter to no effect. Expect it wasnt planned. The difference to Olivier was huge the following week.

Jarryd Lyons with only 1% of ownership, how is a top 6 mid a massive POD? Bizarre
