If you are set on trading Beams out in the next few weeks, but holding him this week, you need to do one simple exercise.
Look at the player you are trading out instead of Beams. Does he look a reasonable chance to beat his B/E?

If the answer is yes, you should be trading Beams out instead!

Without trying to argue against trading him, he was averaging 102 before last week. As a comparison Treloar 99, Fyfe 105, Hannas 91. I don't think his scoring before the injury affected 66 last week is a reason to trade by itself.
Yeah that's not the main reason I'm going to trade him, Maybe my expectations where a little high but I was hoping for a 112-114 avg before the season started and before last weeks game he was going at 102 so about 10 points off where I wanted.

But the main thing I'm concerned with is the Quad injury, The wording of the statement, and as IDIG said, the impending Bye. We all know he doesn't deal with injury well, and really we should have known better selecting him at the start of this season hoping he would play most games, But It's a fairly strong bet that he misses more than just 2 weeks I reckon.

Would rather be aggressive in this case knowing his injury history, and make the most of the opportunity to better my team.

This good advice. For me that guy is Butler with a BE of 47. SC Gold says he'll rise about 8k which isn't a great deal. Could drop another 50 vs the Doggies and not rise at all. Bit hard to predict rookies.

Unless forced with a 0, I think waiting a week isn't the worst call. Gives me perhaps one more weeks' worth of information (which would've helped with Nick Roo...). Otherwise, I could also trade him next week instead of my planned player of Otten or Marchbank. Can play the same game with BEs next week :p

Problem with LTI trades during upgrade season is that it delays your upgrade cycle. I'm planning 2D, 2U, 1D, 1U over the next 3 weeks. If I sideways beams, I'm a "keeper" behind for the same points increases from premiums over rookies. At this stage, I'll just hope he's back after 2-3. Would be annoying if he was out til after his bye. I held Laird last year and still think that was the right move. Difference is that Laird was a clear top 6 average player whereas Beams is probably 5ppg below the line.

The compromise is to trade Beams down to the rookie you want, rather than sideways him.

On being behind in upgrades, in Beams' case he is so popular that stopping the upgrade process to deal with him probably won't set you that far behind the pack. Most leading teams will be making a call on him and even if they hold him they are still a premium down for the next two weeks.

I'm 50-50 on what to do with him myself ... I am leaning towards your strategy of keeping one week at least and grabbing the rookies I want and then reassess next week.

Yeah, prefer to reassess next week. Although, he might just be a problem we are better off fixing as soon as we can if he returns and reinjures himself or returns to sub optimal scoring.

I'm leaning towards holding Beams at this stage.

I have plenty of non-playing players to shift this week (Parfitt, Pickett) and am going a double-downgrade so there's no advantage to shipping Beams instead. Then we're at next week and it's only one week to the reassessment. I might just cross my fingers and hope 2 means 2.

From what I've seen of him this year he has actually looked really good in the first halves but has run out off puff. I think he's just working into it.

Last week he didn't look good at all but he wasn't the worst offender on the team. Rockliff, who is my no.1 trade-in target, was worse than him. I'm not writing him off just on that performance.

He was averaging 112 DT in the first 5 rounds. He's below 500k. Don't think I'm ready to pull the pin just yet.

I wouldn't be too worried about it delaying your upgrades. There are no downgrade options next week anyway, so you should be able to trade him then, or simply delay a trade by one week.

Different approach for me this week. Got to gain 50k places!

Beams/Parfitt to T Adams (mids)/Parsons if named. Closes off a negative POD and certain top 6 Def. Then he'll move to his Def home next week or two. Gives me some cash but also makes me suffer Roughead and Matera (you read it right) for another week. Likelihood my cash grab for Matera loses a little of the desired effect as his B/E is 129, but i'm loopholing him in the hope he gets something decent.

Pendles into Gaz for C. Let's peg you SC geniuses back, one week at a time!

So 3 doesnt go into 2 unfortunately...going to umm and ahh over black/parsons/evw right to the last minute I think

I guess there is the option to pick the 3rd up next week after one price rise....EVW probably the one to go up the least as things stand

Well after all that, Beams has to go out to save a donut. Could be a blessing in disguise or a curse.

Let's go Grundy!

Preuss will have to go for me to avoid a donut. With Goldy up and running he might just be a slow burn even if he plays. Gave me a good score, made a bit of cash. He'll be welcome back to the Freowho Football Club for reunions.

1. Trade Beams for EVM and hold Hampton for 1 more round to get some more cash (Plays hampton on field)

Or

2. Trade Hampton for EVM to allow SPP/barrett loophole and the possibility of keeping beams next week in the case where Beams get back earlier than expected (Plays one of Balic/Berry/Barrett on field and loop one of the remaining 2 with SPP)?

Many pros and cons for both options.

Thoughts?

Can avoid a donut by trading Beams -> S.Martin (using M/F and R/F links), but am tossing up whether to trade Hampton to EVW or Butler to Parsons/Black
Think I'm leaning towards EVW at this point...

Preuss > Parsons via DPP
Matera > Bont via DPP

Will leave me with 264k in the warchest.

Beams out for a minimum of two, however looping is always good. Especially if you have another looping option in the FWDs that Balic can exploit. Otherwise, get all the cash you can squeeze out of your cows.

I am trying to ride the wind as it blows. Traded Hampton and Parfitt for EVW and Parsons. Can probably get 22, a couple of cash generators. Bank 470k see what happens. The Swans fallen premiums in the eye for a double upgrade next week.

Have to make the money.
