I would have said Gaz in his prime was absolutely untaggable. Teams tried and ended up giving up
Yes Gaz in his prime was at close as it could've been to being "untaggable", however freekicks against taggers are much, much less common nowadays. With looser umpiring, if Gazz in his prime played today, think he would feel the significant restrictive impact of a tagger as well.

I hear you. Here's my logic, and I'm hoping any Geelong supporters will correct me, if I'm wrong.

Black missed the first week of the season, played one game in the VFL, and was put straight into the seniors.
He took 8 marks, had 22 disposals (at 81% DE) and kicked a goal.
The fact he missed a week, was given one week in VFL, and then put straight into the Seniors, to me implies he's part of their plan.
The Harry Taylor playing forward experiment isn't working, and while not overly tall, Black can play 3rd Tall Fwd when required.
We know Geelong like to structure up tall Fwds to help Tomahawk, so I think Black will be ok JS-wise, while he is giving them that 3rd option.
Remember, there isn't as much required from a 3rd option, as there is from the first 2 options.

That's what I'm hoping, anyway.

Gaz in his prime vs Crowley was a game where the perma captain rule didn't apply

Like a lot people, Beams has changed my trades.
I'm still going double down, but I was going to have to trade out 1 Rookie, that would probably beat his B/E.

Now I'm looking at:

Eddy ---> Black

Beams ---> EVW/McNiece/Parsons

Will give me around $800k in the bank to play with.
would you still do the first trade is Eddy plays?
I'd love Eddy to be named.

It would then become

Butler ---> Black.

Adams might get a week in midfield for me.

Beams, Parfitt to EVW, Parsons

Then next week Hampton to a premo Mid (Bont, Dusty)

Looks good Jason, provided that you don't have to play EVW on the ground for this week.

I'll have to wait on teams to determine my 2nd trade, Parfitt to either Black/Parsons locked in already.

Nank is currently sitting in the Ruck line for me, so there's a potential donut looming. I can trade Spencer to a premium or Cameron as a 'band aid' solution or just eat a Ruck donut and downgrade on another line.

I'm holding Beams for the meantime, as Balic/Bowes and potentially Barrett as backup.

My prefer option is for Cameron to be selected this week as it serves 2 purpose for my team, help fill in for Nank and avoid a donut and generate cash to potentially do a double upgrade next round. At this stage, I'm not using Cameron as a cash cow as I believe I have enough 'matured' cash cows in my team to be able to upgrade and complete my team. His DDP will be handy and if he plays through the MBRs, will be a bonus.

If Cameron is not selected, then I'm probably going to grab a 'fake' premium ruck as I hate having to eat a donut if I can avoid it. I can still do the double upgrade as planned next week (if I use Beams) or just stick with the one.

Tough times calls for tough decisions to be made, and the season so far have shown us that conventionalism is not the norm. In saying that, I would strongly advise against any 'radical' moves to force a trade. This is where teams that has flexibility through multiple DPPs have greater degree of freedom to trade, without having to compromise their structure and/or players. If you don't have this flexibility, don't try to 'force' the issue as most often or not, you'll end up digging yourself a bigger hole.

SC teams holding all of Greene, Nank, Beams and Parfitt are going to struggle if their bench was already stretched last week (ie Barratt, Eddy, Florent, Pickett, floating donuts etc)

Even with 2 trades I am looking at 2 emergencies at best in the forward and mid lines (less If I go my preferred option of 1 up 1 down including a Marchbank upgrade) unless Florent or Barrett return to boost the numbers, so have my fingers crossed that team selection is extra kind this week.

So think I'm in an OK position... Without doing a trade I've only got Parfitt in the forward line as a donut, unless Cameron plays, with the following team:
Laird, Shaw, Jones, Otten, Marchbank, Newman (Hampton, Hibberd)
Pendles, Danger, Adams, Fyfe, JPK, Treloar, SPP, GHS (Beams, Fisher, Deluca)
Sandi, Witts (Cameron)
Yeo, Dahl, Macrae, Butler, Balic, Parfitt (Nank, Eddy)
$222k and 25 trades left... Potentially thinking Otten & Parfitt for (Pig) Hibberd & Heeney, leaving me with $700 left...
Other option is a double/single down to McNeice/EVW & Heeney or Hibberd & Parsons/Black - allowing a double up next week with/without Beams? Or get the Bont in this week with one of the before-mentioned rooks...

Is EVW a must-have?
No more than Mcneice I wouldn't have thought. Both have good byes, are mature, and have scored virtually identical. If Kelly is named for the Bombers, and Mcneice remains, I'd be leaning towards Mcneice given his price. Also slightly worried about EVW's JS considering he didn't come in for a defender but a forward (basically replacing Preuss). If they want to play another ruckman again, EVW could be out (at least when Mullett is back from a minor injury).

Essendon have lost Brown and Ambrose for 6-8 weeks, so McNeice is one of several players that could get a more permanent role in our backline. From what I've seen so far, he won't be a 100pts player, but I reckon he could make his owner a bit of coin :)

I like your team mate :)

I am envious of the money and trades you have up your sleeve! Shows some pretty good picks early on.

My only concern is with Heeney. I think he may be a tad risky, only because of the glandular fever. I know a few people that have had it and it isn't something that goes away quickly. So with that said, it might be worth looking for someone similar instead?

Haha yeh cheers mate... A few things that have stuck...
I'm also unsure on the Heen Machine for that reason, but then I think "surely they wouldn't play him as a 20yr old if he's not right?"... Not many at his price worth getting (Higgins, Steele etc...) all spec picks... So maybe it's wait a week an go bigger next week.
P.S. Comment on Benny McNeice is spot on... I'm a Northcote Park alum, so a little biased but think he plays a role at the moment and that's what we need...

Gaz in his prime vs Crowley was a game where the perma captain rule didn't apply
I wouldnt have said that was true. In the period of 2010-2014 inclusive, Gaz played against Freo 5 times in regular season games. Crowley played in all of those games.

2010 Round 3 - 157

2011 Round 15 - 185

2012 Gaz did not play against Freo

2013 Round 6 - 137

2014 Round 2 - 121

As a conservative "Captain score taker" I would take all 4 of those scores as my Captain and has an average of 150 SC points against Crowley over that 5 year span.

Thats my definition of Perma captain and even Crowley couldnt stop him

I didnt use 2009 as Crowley didnt play against Ablett those two games
I didnt use 2015 onwards as Ablett only played 6 games in 2015 and has been the start of his decline

If you are in need of Round 12 bye players (like me) and think he has JS then he is a must have. I need to get rid of some of these Round 13 rookies or that round will be a world of hurt
Just keep in mind that at RD 13 the rookies won't necessarily be donuts but could be upgraded to post bye premiums.
