First trade will be Dunkley to Zorko I think, leaving me with almost 500k. Second trade still undecided.

For the second trade, I'd love to grab an Oliver/Steele/Walsh type, however my forward rookies are killing me. I've currently got Warner, Scott, Rowe, Facrae all on field F3-F6 (+Waterman and Brockman).

The obvious move seems to be to make a forward upgrade, but I just don't love any of the options. Don't think I'm completely sold on Sidebottom after just one game. Any thoughts?
I’m not sure what the answer is 😳 but I definitely wouldn’t be going Sidebottom yet - would need to see more than one decent game in the mids. Bucks could move the magnets and he doesn’t have the midfield to feed him after the ‘restructure’. One thought is to go someone like Dev as a decent onfield rookie to buy some time. In a few weeks you will have some value options - Marshall, Heeney, Martin, or perhaps go for a Hind / Atkins type.

Just to clarify my previous post: the week before against the Dogs Farrar actually started on English, who is clearly not a third tall. I thought both games Farrar played well vs Heeney and English. Both games Farrar gave away strength (to Heeney) and height (a good 5 inches or so to English) and coped pretty well with his defensive duties.

In terms of the debate between him and Atu, after rewatching some footage I don't really see that much difference between the two in terms of JS/SC output. Atu shadowed the dangerous Frederick vs Freo so clearly both players are playing a lockdown role to some degree from week to week. I thought Atu made a fairly egregious mistake in the Freo game but he's playing on the worst team in the comp so I think he'll continue to get games, he's also thick set physically and is able to cope with the demands of the game unlike most rookies.

Farrar will get more intercepts, and Gold Coast clearly want to use him to run off his opponents. He's probably a better disposer of the ball as well and has been around classy players like SPS since he was a kid, but I couldn't blame anyone for picking Atu over him this week.

If Finn Macrae was playing his actual position, ie midfield, instead of playing in a forward pocket or wherever the Pies put him on the weekend, the argument between Farrar and Atu would probably be moot, that is unless people are looking at a double downgrade this week/brought Macrae in early last week.
This is a good post (y)

I don’t really like the idea of Zorko or Sidedoorexit at this stage, but the other than Zbull and StImpey I’ve got rookies that may not even play. Have to get at least one. Or go left field on Sideshow Brown... or something, something...

Very similar spot to me with Flynn at R2. I'm likely to continue without Gawn so long as Flynn is named solo ruck, any funny buggers with Mumford/Briggs into the side and that's me done. Dunkley will become Gawn, and Campbell to Farrar.

You're not tempted to plug Marshall in as a stop gap until a possible lower score from Gawn? (Wishful thinking I know).

If Flynn is named, I can afford Campbell/Dunkley to Zorko/Sidey but I'm really struggling to wrap my head around Sidey's prospects from here in such a bad side...
Yepp Gawn has a lower score - 132, 135 etc drops 7k. Unless he goes down with an injury at 5min mark of Q1 we will never see a lower score from the bearded wonder.

Flynn watch tomorrow night.

Sticking with Dunkley+Kelly for Walsh+Bont for now.

If Flynn is out, will have to look at Flynn to Grundy with Dunkley to rookie somewhere :cautious:

Think it'll be one of the very few chances I'll have to bring Grundy in. Think I'll have to pull the trigger on it.

Dunkley to Grundy, Rowe to Macrae.
Still think Macrae should be a decent scoring rookie.

Will be relying on all the rookies I have to avoid a 0. Expecting a crap score and a huge drop in ranking. It is what it is...

Any thoughts on ditching Dusty this week and buying him back cheaper in a few weeks?

(24 trades with 16 keepers and 6 rookies to upgrade - bye structure is set up too)
This seems a little too cute imo, something may come out of left field later down the track that is more pressing to attend to. Alternatively he might blast out a big score in the next match or two back and you're not that much better off cashwise.

This is a little reminiscent of the Daniel trade a few weeks ago, however Martin is still likely a top 6 forward and hasn't got the deficiencies to his game like Daniel does.

Are you trading Rowe ahead of Gulden? Tempted to do the same simply due to JS
If Rowe is out, yeah. Even if he's named I might still ditch him, even with his lowish BE. Gulden has better scoring potential even if his BE is a little higher. Last week was his first really bad score.

Now now NT!

As a Joey owner and Essendon supporter, I am quite happy with Joey's contribution to my team. If he can put a couple more games together then he will turn into Dusty/Marshall in a few weeks - job well done and enjoy the sun up there big boy.
if he puts together another couple of decent games, he’ll be averaging over 80. That means he might as well stay until becoming one of the final upgrades, or he gets injured. Anyone going over 80 in the fwd line is quite acceptable.

Trying to get two strong premiums out of Dunkley and Cox/Gulden. Looks like I'm going to have to go a quasi-premo in a Heeney/May type. Or go one up one down and then double up next week... but there are no downgrades appealing strongly to me this week.

Best I can likely do is Heeney and Houston. Both have 150 odd BEs. Still not entirely sold on Heeney, and I probably want Zorko, Butters and Dusty so I'd be forgoing one of them if I was to get Heeney.

Could also go Zorko and May, but I've already got Ridley, Stewart, Laird, Mills and (for the meantime) Cumming. Want Houston next week but that would be my 7th defender including Cumming...

Eventually want to grab Lloyd for Cumming, which would mean 7 proper premo defenders in my team. Reckon I could keep Laird at M8 without leaking points?

Sorry for the explosion of thoughts. These are the things I'm tangling with.

Yeah. I think you are right. I have decided to hold and upgrade gulden by selling another rookie.
