Had a search but couldn't find anything on the forum. I'm hearing Liam Duggan is out this week? Anyone else heard this?

Ryan is one of the few afl journos out there that is not a flog so i would believe what he says. It doesn't say if it is a knee issue he could keep playing with so the jury is still out.....seems he has an issue though which isn't great news for owners

Yes possibly having knee surgery is what I saw on an afl reporters Twitter page. Also posted in the injuries thread.

Thank you all.

Not great news, will see if hat kind of score I get from Mansell tonight and if Highmore is named. Holding I can hold out one more week and potentially swap him to Ridley for $50k if the injury is long-term.

Worst case scenario is that like a couple of weeks ago, he's named the medi-sub and comes on in Q4 and scores 20 odd.
He played yesterday I think, doubtful he's the sub. I have him and probably have to move him on, he played well last week but they still dropped him, seemingly he's not reliable as cover for the rest of the season so I'll have to look in another direction.

Ok...
This is to everyone but @Herbie66 I'm shouting you out since you seem to be the biggest FOR Stringer I've seen so far

So this round my trades are looking Chapman/Gulden - May/Stringer + $10k left in the bank
or
It could be Chapman/Rowe - May/Fred or another rookie

(-Only reason i would look at someone other than May with his great BE is Daniel and the Bye but he needs to prove himself first to me-)

What's the consensus?

After this round, I have 21/22 trades left...
The interesting thing is Stringer is becoming a preferred trade in option on others sites I visit , although not that popular here.

I am very cash strapped so for someone who costs $ 325k with scores of 124 , 86 , 27 , 84 , 92 he is averaging 82.6 (not much less than Kropenyeri-Pickett , Hind , Atkins types) he might serve a purpose , doubt he is a season long keeper but he could be a stepping stone to Dangerfield if necessary.

I just need to weigh up the balance of my forward line currently with Impey , Martin , Ziebell & Zorko (in my mids).

Warner to Marshall is the plan.

F6 is McCreery with Rowe & Fullarton on my bench.

So either leaves 1 or 2 spots to fill.

Doing the sums during the week I may end up with both Laird & Zorko permanently in my mids.

Yours and others balance maybe completely different so Stringer might not suit your team.

Brown , de Goey , Heeney and possibly Petty are cheaper alternatives next week that could do a similar job.

Hall will be getting more and more mentions (amazingly he plays less games every season than Heeney but looks like a ride many are prepared to take).

Daniel & May definitely look the value options in defence this round , Ridley will be about $ 500k next week , Houston could drop to $ 425k or wait for Whitfield.

Lots of different options , just need to workout what best suits your team not only for the current round but in the next 2-3 rounds as well.

If you still have 21-22 trades left after this round you are doing very well.

Backline is just a revolving door of holes this season, stifling any upgrades
Want to upgrade but with Ryan and Chapman out will have a zero
No net improvement to side but thinking
Chapman > Frederick
Ryan > Mills +$150k

Is Highmore a chance of playing? Him and Sharp have been stinking up my rookie bench on the bubble

Update, Ryan now believed to be an outside chance to play this weekend. JL said he's 50/50.

Has anyone started looking at Bye structure when deciding which Premiums/PODs to bring in?

Round 14 is an absolute bloodbath (STK MEL ADE COLL FRE SYD), so has this affected any decision for any of you guys?

Mindful about trading in any premiums in this round atm.. May is on that list, if he wasn’t R14 it would make it hellova lot easier
The ruck bloodbath that round is real

If you're not carrying a R3 and had intended to use a R/F switcheroo, you have the following options currently playing who aren't sharing the bye with Grawndy (IE, put a line through Marshall, Lobb, Thilthorpe etc)

Tom Campbell

That doesn't fill me with confidence around job security

If you can structure all your DPP types, or by some bizarre circumstance have Biggy Nyuon at R3 you may be able to swing Ben McEvoy from defence but who really is using 400k in defence on Ben McEvoy at the moment? I guess someone who planned their bye structure more thoroughly than me. I had planned on Ladhams due to his bye but he was woeful and required early trading, and then was gone.

(Edit. Missed Adelaide sharing the bye as well)

Could you just field Laird in the mids and get Ridley as well?

I suspect he scores as well as any mid you can pick up at $480k or so.

You can potentially swing him back in the event of an injury/around the byes, as you say.
Cheers Darkie, thanks for your comments

Things have changed since I posted, lol. Duggan is now out so he will need to be traded and Ryan is 50/50 to play now (was no chance at the time of posting).

Keen to get Ridley in of course, but not this week, but hopefully next week for around 500k.

Might look at byes and weigh up Lloyd for Duggan or go down to Daniel and some cash.

I guess the balancing act is that what ever I do I need to make sure I have enough cash to get Ridley next week or the week after.

Chapman to Fred and Duggan to Daniel leaves 384k for next week

or

Chapman to Fred and Duggan to Lloyd leaves 235k for next week

Bit lost this week. Have 29.6k in the bank, and my team stinks.

I was thinking Rowe and Chapman out, but doesn't leave me with much cash. I want to swing Martin into the forwards for Rowe. If Highmore plays/Mansell scores well tonight, I have more options - but feeling clueless. Wish my team wasn't this bad. Any thoughts appreciated! 1620351222042.png

My team is pretty bad this year (looks worse than yours actually as I dont have Powell/Jordon) and I’m in a similar position with Rowe/Chappy to boot but not enough cash to hit an upgrade.

Planning to go Rowe/Chappy to Frederick/RCD (hoping they can hold up on field spots) and then do Scott UP next round

That's an interesting one. I'm usually inclined to pick the better player (within reason price-wise), but a $150k price difference at this point seems high for Lloyd over Daniel. [I actually paid a similar price for Lloyd a couple of weeks back, fairly happily ... and unfortunately started Daniel!]

If you feel somewhat cash-constrained, I would probably take Daniel and back him to get within 10-15 points of Lloyd (given that the price difference implies more like 30 ppg). Otherwise I think Lloyd is still a very solid pick at his price.

Chapman - > Frederick
Gulden - > May via Laird

Jordon , Scott & Flynn all give you at least $ 150k each when downgrading.

That money then upgrades F4-6.

8 trades and you then only have Powell to upgrade.

Strong situation to be in.

Team looks pretty decent to me. I concur with Bomber18.
Chapman - > Frederick
Gulden - > May via Laird
I like this but I'd go Daniel over May. (haven't looked at your bye sitch though)

Think Highmore was all but ruled out by Ratten (something like "don't want to change the team after a good win") Reckon we can pencil in a perfectly timed bye-period resurrection for him though. It always happens with one of them and I've never been the recipient of the largesse so I feel I am due.

Getting rid of Clark now that he isn't getting consistent games.

Thought of Titch, Guthrie, Jelly, Taranto - and realised the round 12 bye round will kill me.

I've got two options now - Brayshaw+66k vs McCluggage? I should go for value right?

I would definitely go for Brayshaw there. Actually think he scores more for the rest of the season than McCluggage.

Yep will have another look at my team, now thinking on fully working on the backline this week
Clark to Fred sounds good- 180k left for next week to upgrade someone?
Will see tonight what this round holds

EDIT: Need a new good rookie to look at? Keane?
