This will be a "Work In Progress", hopefully I can do 4 to 6 players from each team over a period months, leading into the 2016 season. It will also double as a sort of Flat Track Bullies thread, as you can see at a glance who fits that description, and who doesn't. They will have (FTB) next to their name in the index.

The opportunity will exist to request tables on players I haven't done, but I would prefer that to be left until you see if I have done that player yet. I will tackle the teams alphabetically, work through them that way.

Requests will be shifted to post #5 below, and the post requesting it then deleted, just to keep the thread clean. Before you post a request, please refer to post #5, to see if it has already been requested. Once the request has been filled, it will be deleted from the requests, and added to the relevant index.

Rory Laird

This table shows Laird's season, his SC scores against game margins, and broken up to home and away games.
Season - 21 games at 93.8 (2014 16 games at 59.1)
Home - 11 games at 97.9 (Home wins 8 at 92.9, Home losses 3 at 111.3)
Away - 10 games at 89.3 (Away wins 5 at 106.4, Away losses 5 at 72.2)
Wins - 13 games at 98.1
Losses - 8 games at 86.9

Of note...
All 5 away losses (Bulldogs, GWS, WC, Syd and Geelong) were 24 points or higher, and he only averaged 72.2
In their 7 biggest wins (40+ points) he averaged 105.9
So.....
Away losses 24+ 5 at 72.2
Home/Away wins 40+ 7 at 105.9
All others 9 at 96.4

Season - 21 games at 108.0 (2014 22 games at 115.4)
Home - 11 games at 104.3 (Home wins 8 at 117.6, Home losses 3 at 68.7)
Away - 10 games at 112.0 (Away wins 5 at 131.4, Away losses 5 at 92.6)
Wins - 13 games at 123.0
Losses - 8 games at 83.6

Of note...
Big differential between his scores in winning and losing games.
13 winning games: lowest 3 scores 67, 73 & 102, then 10 scores between 115 & 162!
8 losing games: highest 3 scores 118, 110 & 96, then 5 scores between 62 & 81!
Or put another way, his 3rd lowest score of 13 scores in winning games was higher than his 3rd highest score in 8 losing games!
All 9 of his highest scores came in wins.

Break up of scores with no allowance for injuries
Season - 16 games at 105.5 (2014 22 games at 114.8)
Home - 8 games at 119.3 (Home wins 6 at 128.0, Home losses 2 at 93.0)
Away - 8 games at 91.8 (Away wins 5 at 103.4, Away losses 3 at 72.3)
Wins - 11 games at 117.0
Losses - 5 games at 80.6

The following games are in the "injury affected" section of Sloane's table above.
Rnd 4 SC 60, disposals 21, suffered a corkie, but carried on, before succumbing and getting subbed off.
Rnd 5 SC 69, disposals 12, came into the game under a cloud, and got subbed off, again!
Rnd 6 SC 75, disposals 17, fractured cheekbone for 1st time in 2015, subbed off.
Rnd 10 SC 94 disposals 21, first game back, and appeared restricted. Rnd 11 was their bye. Played well Rnd 12.
Rnd 13 SC 69, disposals 15, re-fractured cheekbone, subbed off.
Rnd 17 SC 94, disposals 19, returns, but was obviously "restricted".
Rnd 18 SC 75, disposals 13, still restricted.

If we take those 7 games into account, and separate them from his analysis above, we get:
Injury affected - 7 games at 76.6
Non-injury affected - 9 games at 128.0 (2014 22 games at 114.8)
Home - 6 games at 131.8 (Home wins 5 at 134.8, Home losses 1 at 117.0)
Away - 3 games at 120.3 (Away wins 2 at 139.5, Away losses 1 at 82.0)
Wins - 7 games at 136.1
Losses - 2 games at 99.5

Of note...
Certainly a big difference between his non-injury wins, and non-injury losses, but given there is only 2 losses, I am not prepared to (FTB) him on such a small sample pool.
There's no doubt he comes into 2016 heavily discounted, especially when you see he only had one sub 100 score, that wasn't injury affected. It only leaves 2 questions to be answered:
Can he get through 2016 relatively unscathed?
The answer is probably yes, given his previous 3 seasons game counts were: 21, 21, & 22
Can he survive the extra attention, with Dangerfield gone?
It will be tough, and we'll never really be able to answer that question fully until we see the results. Given he has a high CP rate (over 50% of his possessions are contested possessions in the last 2 seasons), I think he is a good chance to be ok. You wouldn't think he'd do worse than the 106 he'll be priced at, in any case.

Brodie Smith

Break up of scores with no allowance for injuries
Season - 19 games at 77.0 (2014 22 games at 93.5)
Home - 10 games at 82.8 (Home wins 8 at 89.4, Home losses 2 at 56.5)
Away - 9 games at 70.6 (Away wins 5 at 79.8, Away losses 4 at 59.0)
Wins - 13 games at 85.7
Losses - 6 games at 58.2

Smith suffered a concussion late in the game in Round 2 against Collingwood. Many SC people thought/claimed that that was the reason his next few games were well below his opening two scores of 144 & 117. I disagree, and I am not including that period in his injury affected games. In Round 3 Smith recorded 18 disposals, and an equal season high 10 of those disposals were contested. None of his key numbers were drastically down in those next 3 games, except his SC scores! (his Rnd 3-5 scores were: 87, 60, 45). The games I will say are undeniably injury affected are the two where Smith was subbed off early in the game.
Rnd 7 SC 16, disposals 4. Subbed off concussed, and missed the next 2 games.
Rnd 23 SC 43, disposals 13. Subbed off around quarter time.

If we take those 2 games into account, and separate them from his analysis above, we get:
Injury affected - 2 games at 29.5
Non-injury affected - 17 games at 82.6 (2014 22 games at 93.5)
Home - 9 games at 90.2 (Home wins 7 at 99.9, Home losses 2 at 56.5)
Away - 8 games at 74.1 (Away wins 5 at 79.8, Away losses 3 at 64.3)
Wins - 12 games at 91.5
Losses - 5 games at 61.2

Of note...
I think Smith's SC ups and downs came down to the role he was required to play in different games. Inside 50's can give a lead to where a player is playing and picking up possessions. In 2015 Smith's only 5 games where he had 6 or more IF's produced SC scores of: 144, 117, 45, 101 & 108. That's 4 of his top 5 scores for the season, and an average of 103.0! The 5 games where Smith had 7+ Rebound 50's produced scores of: 60, 68, 69, 76 & 126. While that contains his only top 5 season score not contained in the other list, it only averages out to 79.8. When he plays up the ground, he scores better. It's pretty obvious and easy.
He had a remarkably consistently bad record in away games in 2015. Looking only at the 8 non-injured games:
Top score 117, then 7 scores between 60 and 76!
Also, breaking his non-injury home games into 2 groups is interesting too.
Home wins 25+ 6 games, lowest score 93, average 108.2
Home wins 0-25 and home losses 3 games, highest score 68, average 54.3

Dayne Zorko

Season - 22 games at 100.6 (2014 21 games at 99.0)
Home - 11 games at 106.3 (Home wins 3 at 98.3, Home losses 8 at 109.3)
Away - 11 games at 95.0 (Away wins 1 at 48.0, Away losses 10 at 99.7)
Wins - 4 games at 85.8
Losses - 18 games at 103.9

Of note...
I have long held a belief that most mature age recruits find their SC level very quickly, and don't need 3 seasons to grow into the game. Zorko is nearly the pin up boy of this theory! Season averages of 100.0, 82.9, 99.0 & 100.6 pretty much bear this out. Even the break up above, apart from that one out-rider of 48 in their away win against Carlton (got Curnowed?!) is remarkably consistent. Remove that 48 from the 4 winning game average, which is a very small sample pool, and his average in wins rises to 98.3. Just call him Mr.100 average!
BUT!!! It's not as simple as it looks!!! Let's break his season up into three sections:
No Beams
No Rockliff
All 3 play

No Beams 6 games for an average of 108.0
No Rockliff* 7 games for an average 100.3 (*Rocky's 8 minute game is in this section)
All 3 play 9 games for an average of 89.3
We can see that 5 of his 6 lowest scores for the season came when all 3 played together. Only one of his 7 highest scores for the season came when all 3 played together, 3 came from no Beams, and 3 came from no Rockliff.
I would think there is some chance he loses his M/F DPP in 2016. If he does, he's nearly untouchable if Rocky and Beams are ok, and even if Zorko keeps his DPP I'd be watching Beams/Rockliff before I took him in my Fwd line!

Tom Rockliff

Break up of scores with no allowance for injuries
Season - 16 games at 101.9 (2014 18 games at 132.0)
Home - 9 games at 101.1 (Home wins 3 at 129.3, Home losses 6 at 87.0)
Away - 7 games at 103.0 (Away wins 1 at 97.0, Away losses 6 at 104.0)
Wins - 4 games at 121.3
Losses - 12 games at 95.5

Trying to define Rockliff's injury affected games was very problematical. Some are obvious, some are a result of possibly returning too soon from injury. Let's look at a brief history of his early season injuries:
Rnd 1 v Collingwood - Broken Ribs (TOG% 50%)
misses rnds 2 & 3, plays rnd 4 but only manages 16 disposals in TOG% 80%
Rnd 5 v Gold Coast - Knocked out in the first 10 minutes TOG% 8%
plays rnds 6 & 7, and in both games has 19 disposals in TOG% 89%, rnd 8 shows signs of improvement with 27 disposals in TOG% 79%
Rnd 9 v St Kilda - Rebreaks ribs (TOG % 75%)
Takes proper break this time. Misses rnd 10, bye rnd 11, misses rnds 12, 13 & 14.
So the question becomes, where do we draw the line? Was he back to normal by rnd 8, only to get injured rnd 9 again?
I've taken the easy approach, and called all the games up to rnd 9 injury affected, and all the games rnd 15 and later as "normal".

The table above has those injury games highlighted. When we remove those from his analysis we get:
Injury affected - 7 games at 77.0
Non-injury affected - 9 games at 121.3 (2014 22 games at 93.5)
Home - 5 games at 117.6 (Home wins 2 at 148.5, Home losses 3 at 97.0)
Away - 4 games at 126.0 (Away wins 0 at 0.0, Away losses 4 at 126.0)
Wins - 2 games at 148.5
Losses - 7 games at 113.6

Of note...
On Rocky's return in rnd 15 he managed 27 disposals (TOG% 83%) against Sydney, but then fell to 14 disposals and 16 disposals against Melbourne and North in the next 2 games. Was this Rocky still being injury affected, and working his way back? I've elected to say no. His work rate was there, as evidenced by his 17 tackles against Melbourne. More tackles than possessions! 17 tackles is the equal 2nd highest ever recorded in a game (A feat achieved 3 times in 2015. Johncock holds the record with 20!).
So the above figures look cut and dry. Rocky comes off a Ablett-esque season of 132 in 2014, and manages to record 121 in his 9 non-injured games, and we get to buy him this season at a price of 102 (around $550k). So we all start with him, and why not, he'll be around $160k cheaper than he was in rnd 1, 2015!
But wait!!!
Let's remember we were all worried about how Beams would affect Rocky in 2015! Didn't Beams go missing about the time Rocky came good? I hear the smarter ones of you say. The answer is YES!!!
Let's look at those 9 games again!
Rnd 15 Beams has no problems, Rocky scores 126.
Rnd 16 Beams injures shoulder. Reported as season over (but it isn't!). Rocky scores 101
Rnd 17 Beams misses game, Rocky gets a "Jacobed" 50, as North pants Brisbane 110-38
Rnd 18 Beams plays, but is obviously affected. His last game for 2015. Rocky scores 135
Rnd 19-23, No Beams, Rocky's scores are: 115, 145, 122, 146, 152 (ave 136.0)
If/when you take out Rockliff's injury games, it's a very small sample pool to look at, to see if Beams negatively impacts Rockliff's SC scores or not. One could possibly argue, the only "pure" game they played together, where neither was affected, was Rnd 15, where Rockliff scored 126. It's all pretty inconclusive, and does put another (or the same as 2015) question mark over taking Rockliff in 2016. Certainly Rockliff looked like his 2014 self in the last 5 games, once Beams was gone!

Season - 20 games at 110.8 (2014 12 games at 111.7)
Home - 10 games at 111.7 (Home wins 3 at 118.0, Home losses 7 at 109.0)
Away - 10 games at 109.8 (Away wins 1 at 145.0, Away losses 9 at 105.9)
Wins - 4 games at 124.8
Losses - 16 games at 107.3

Of note...
Remarkably consistent figures across the board, and that's what you are looking for in your players.
Separating the games Leuenberger played we get:
When Leuey played 30+% TOG, Martin: 11 games at 103.5
When Leuey missed, or played 29% or less TOG, Martin 9 games at 119.7
Trent West played in Rnds 20 & 21 and had little effect on Martin. Martin averaged 113.5 in those 2 games.
Obviously the loss of Leuenberger, from a SC point of view, can only help Martin. He will be priced just below $600k, which can be a stretch, but I can still see many hoping to Lock away a Goldy/Martin set and forget Ruck line, with possibly Currie (I wouldn't take Currie!) at R3.

Season - 16 games at 113.4 (2014 19 games at 115.5)
Home - 7 games at 125.9 (Home wins 1 at 141.0, Home losses 6 at 123.3)
Away - 9 games at 103.8 (Away wins 1 at 111.0, Away losses 8 at 102.9)
Wins - 2 games at 126.0
Losses - 14 games at 111.6

Of note...
He's fairly consistent score wise, and has been for a number of years. The biggest problem is, he seems a bit physically fragile/unlucky. Game counts counting back from 2015 of: 16, 19, 7, 21, 14, 21, 16 (ave 16.3) means it's a case of when, not if, you'll need bench cover for him.

Pearce Hanley (FTB)

Break up of scores with no allowance for injuries
Season - 11 games at 86.5 (2014 20 games at 103.8)
Home - 5 games at 104.2 (Home wins 2 at 112.0, Home losses 3 at 99.0)
Away - 6 games at 71.8 (Away wins 0 at 0.0, Away losses 6 at 71.8)
Wins - 2 games at 112.0
Losses - 9 games at 80.9

In rnds 13 & 16 Hanley only played 48% & 41% TOG%, those game are marked on the table above. when we take those games out of his analysis, we get:
Season - 9 games at 95.2 (2014 20 games at 103.8)
Home - 4 games at 115.8 (Home wins 2 at 112.0, Home losses 2 at 119.5)
Away - 5 games at 78.8 (Away wins 0 at 0.0, Away losses 5 at 78.8)
Wins - 2 games at 112.0
Losses - 7 games at 90.4

Of note...
Hanley is one of the original Flat Track Bullies from a few seasons ago, and when you look at the limited number of games he played last season, he still looks like one!
Let's do a very simple break up of Hanley's scores over the past 4 seasons (all games included, no injury exclusions):
2015 season 11/86.5 - in losses >=36 4/69.3, all other games 7/96.4 (+39.2%)
2014 season 20/103.8 - in losses >=36 9/85.8, all other games 13/118.5 (+38.2%)
2013 season 20/95.7 - in losses >=36 6/78.8, all other games 14/102.9 (+30.6%)
2012 season 22/90.7 - in losses >=36 9/71.6, in all other games 13/104.0 (+45.2%)
Some of you might think that it is normal to be so far down, when your team loses by 6 goals or more. It's more normal to be 10%-20% down, not consistently over 30%. It should also be noted, that 38% of the games Hanley has played in the last 4 seasons, Brisbane have lost by 6 goals+. That means it's happening at a pretty regular rate!
My thoughts are, depending on Brisbane's draw, you need him to get his D/M DPP back to seriously consider him. Some will be tempted to take him as a Stepping Stone, due to his discounted price, even if he is still Mid only. I would really only consider it if Brisbane has a very favourable early draw.

Season - 22 games at 86.5 (2014 8 games at 90.6)
Home - 11 games at 82.6 (Home wins 3 at 82.3, Home losses 8 at 82.8)
Away - 11 games at 90.3 (Away wins 1 at 133.0, Away losses 10 at 86.0)
Wins - 4 games at 95.0
Losses - 18 games at 84.6

Of note...
Very restricted pre-season coming into 2015 due to back surgery. March 26th Leppitsch was quoted as saying:
"... we've just got to get him fit and healthy so he can supply those skills for us....
This year is going to be a real management case with him. We've got to make sure we can get him through the year so he can have a full pre-season next year and his body can be at his best."
If we gift Christensen 5 games to get match fit, due to his restricted pre-season we get:
Rnds 1 - 5 SC ave 72.8
Rnds 16 - 23 SC ave 90.5
If we delve a bit further, we can see that Christensen benefitted from Beams being out, and averaged 99 in the last 5 games of the season. With Redden gone I think we might see Zorko/Christensen/Hanley rotating through half forward, and that third on ball position.
With hopefully a full preseason under his belt, and coming off an injury restricted 8 games with Geelong in 2014, if he keeps his his M/F DPP, one would think he might be cherry ripe to take a step up, SC-wise.

Season - 20 games at 96.3 (2014 3 games at 39.3)
MCG - 9 games at 95.4 (MCG wins 2 at 133.5, MCG losses 7 at 84.6)
Etihad - 6 games at 86.8 (Etihad wins 1 at 82.0, Etihad losses 5 at 87.8)
Away - 5 games at 109.2 (Away wins 1 at 172.0, Away 4 losses at 93.5)
Wins - 4 games at 130.3
Losses - 16 games at 87.8

Of note...
The glaring outrider in his analysis is his Rnd 4 172 against St Kilda in NZ. Take that out, and his figures look very consistent across the board. All in the 87 to 94 area. His graph gives the appearance of a FTB, and he certainly performs better in wins than in losses. I'm hesitant to label him as such, with so few wins, in such a short history, and that outrider skewing his figures.
My biggest concern with him, as far as SC 2016 goes, is not the 2nd year blues (if we ignore his 3 game 2014). Most players that suffer 2nd year blues are 4th or 5th string Mids, that struggle to step up a bit when bumped up the order. Cripps is already number 1 or 2 Mid at Carlton, so that doesn't apply to him. My biggest concern is his Kick to Handball ratio. He averaged 23 disposals/game last season, but that was an average of 8 Kicks and 15 Handballs! I can't check, but I doubt anybody has ever averaged 23 disposals/game before across 20 games, but only had 4 games with 10+ kicks! Some were critical of JPK in 2013, and said he handballed too much. He had 230 Kicks to 371 H'balls in H & A games that season. That was a K:H of 1:1.61. Cripps was 1:1.98 in 2015!

Marc Murphy

Season - 19 games at 103.2 (2014 20 games at 106.0)
MCG - 8 games at 106.1 (MCG wins 2 at 94.0, MCG losses 6 at 110.2)
Etihad - 7 games at 99.7 (Etihad wins 1 at 114.0, Etihad 6 losses at 97.3)
Away - 4 games at 103.3 (Away wins 1 at 123.0, Away 3 losses at 96.7)
Wins - 4 games at 106.3
Losses - 15 games at 102.3

Of note...
4 seasons in a row (2009-2012) of averages between 112 and 118, then an injury affected 92 followed by 106 and 103. I think he needs the help of a Judd-like player or two, to help take the pressure off him, and provide the opposition teams with another tagging target. I don't think Cripps is enough to accomplish this, so Murphy seems destined for another frustrating, just-short-of-what-we-really-want SC season. The combination of the Captaincy, and the history of effective tags against him just makes it the obvious option to opposition teams.
Murphy only averaged 92 in the first 8 Rounds, then missed Rnd 9 with a calf strain. He then managed to average 111 in his last 11 games. There is no doubt he is still capable of scoring at 110+ in largish chunks of the season, I just don't think he will do it over whole season too many more times. As a complete counter to my assertion above, that Murphy might need some good players aroud him, to ease the target on his back, his 11 games at 111 coincided with Judd retiring!

Could it be the coach? Good numbers under Ratten, poor numbers under Malthouse, good numbers under Barker?

Carlton from 2011-2014 for total disposals were 4th, 9th, 16th, 18th.
Murphy's SC average in this time were 118, 113, 92, 106.

I agree that being the second fiddle helped Murphy but I think if Brendan Bolton can introduce better ball movement like Beveridge has at the doggies it will suit him.

Season - 19 games at 87.7 (2014 16 games at 76.8)
MCG - 7 games at 91.4 (MCG wins 2 at 92.0, MCG losses 5 at 91.2)
Etihad - 6 games at 85.8 (Etihad wins 1 at 114.0, Etihad losses 5 at 80.2)
Away - 6 games at 85.2 (Away wins 1 at 76.0, Away 5 losses at 87.0)
Wins - 4 games at 93.5
Losses - 15 games at 86.1

Of note...
In the struggling search we all had for decent Def players last season, many of us (myself included) got seduced by Docherty's first two games of the season. History now shows that those two scores were his highest and fifth highest for the season, and he only averaged 83.7 for the rest of the season after those 2 games. He sometimes looks the goods, as that rebounding Defender we all like in our team, the only problem is, that "sometimes" became fewer, and further apart as the season wore on. He will be priced just below the better Defenders, and will probably perform accordingly.

Season - 20 games at 92.7 (2014 22 games at 95.4)
MCG - 9 games at 93.6 (MCG wins 2 at 85.5, MCG losses 7 at 95.9)
Etihad - 5 games at 104.4 (Etihad wins 1 at 88.0, Etihad losses 4 at 108.5)
Away - 6 games at 81.7 (Away wins 1 at 72.0, Away 5 losses at 83.6)
Wins - 4 games at 82.8
Losses - 16 games at 95.2

Of note...
Not good when forced to fly! Let's look at recent scores when he has stepped off a plane:
The number in the brackets is his TOG% from that game.
2015: 92(92), 72(94), 89(93), 71(90), 65(82), 101(90) - ave 81.7(90) season average 92.7(89)
2014: 112(85), 32(89), 87(91), 105(92), 24(93) - ave 72.0(90) season average 95.4(88)
So in the last 2 seasons he has played 11 games when he has flown interstate, and averaged 77.3.
In the 31 games, where he didn't have to fly interstate he averaged 100.1!
Look at his draw, and plan to get him after Carlton have a little run of interstate games!

Carlton's Draw 2016: M = MCG, E = Eti, B = Bye, I = Interstate

M E I E I M M E E E E E B I M M M I I M I M M

If his interstate phobia continues, he might bottom out in Rnd 7 or 8.

Wins - 2 games at 81.5
Losses - 8 games at 82.6

Of note...
His season averages starting at 2008: 93, 107, 105, 103, 95, 95, 106, 82.
His opening price for 2016 should be around $443,000. Keep in mind, that as the MN falls, players prices naturally drop, and that drop is usually between 7% and 12% if a player maintains his average from the previous season. In Rnd 16 of 2008 Gibbs' price went above that $443k level. Since then he has played 144 games. His price has been below that $443k level in only 22 of those 144 games. This is to demonstrate, to those that like Stepping Stone type selections (I don't like them), that Gibbs is a very viable option. His growth is unlikely to be big, but his safety factor in increasing his value should be ok. Of course, if he was to get his D/M back, he's a very good selection! Don't pay too much attention to his Draw, when deciding if you'll risk taking him. He has some big scores, in big losses. In just the last 2 seasons: rnd 2 2015 110 in a 69 pt loss to WC, rnd 22 2014 130 in a 103 pt loss to Pt Ade, rnd 17 2014 138 in a 71 pt loss to Sydney.
