If I remember correctly Mumford did have some niggles early last year, and the end part to his year was obviously excellent.
When making a decision on having Mumford I would be looking at the GWS structure - will he play as the only ruckman?
IF Mummy looks fit I may take a punt again. He really has had issues for 2 seasons which he loked to overcome at the later half of last season. And before he started with back issues he was also scoring well.

Don't worry about west. Rubbish player who won't get a game IMO. In years to come Brisbane will be kicking themselves that they let us get Jake Koladjashnij for him.
Fully agree that West is rubbish, but so Is Stefan Martin and the Lions NEED a 2nd big man, especially with this rotation cap I think we'll see teams playing 2 ruck men with 90%+ Tog each.

Interestingly RAMP suggests that Giles will have a very good patch from rounds 2 to 8. If it just wasn't for that pesky Mummy joining the team....
Yeah, I noticed that too, Phil. I'll have to figure out how I can factor in something like a new recruit affecting a players projected scores!

Not sure about the idea of picking Sandi
and also a mid pricer on your bench
In case he breaks down. Effectively you
are paying 600k for Sandilands points.
Naaahhhh, If I loophole Sandi and Hickey, I am paying $600k to pick the best of their 2 scores each round, and I will be getting dollars from each as well. I can loophole them every round using King from Melbourne.

I think you would generate more points
or cash by spending the Hickey money
on upgrading a mid-pricer to a super premo,
or being able to select all the best cows
as they present. As apposed to being able
to loophole Sandi/Hickey each week.
You are selecting Sandi as you think he
will score well early anyway.

That seems like something that would have to be done on an individual basis. I wouldn't worry about it as anyone with enough time to use RAMP would know about new recruits etc and factor it into their thinking anyway.

I know this article is about Bellchambers but I think it makes Ryder a decent pick if he's likely to spend most of his time in the ruck this year.

TOM Bellchambers will likely spend more time up forward this season as Essendon tries to cover the losses of Stewart Crameri and Scott Gumbleton.

Bellchambers kicked 28 goals last season and came in second in the club's leading goalkickers, behind Crameri.

So time in the forward line is not exactly foreign to the Bombers big man, but as suggested by AFL.com.au this week a more permanent move might be necessary.

Bombers midfielder Dyson Heppell agrees with the sentiment.

"He's (Bellchambers) obviously fantastic in the ruck but he's very dangerous up forward, so he'll spend a bit of time up there for sure," Heppell said on Friday.
Has lost his DPP this year but priced at $486k, he's pretty good value coming off a quieter year. Surely Paddy one day will show us what he's capable of! :(

What about big Angus?
Poor Angus has been referred to by Crows fans as "the inanimate carbon rod"! I think we would give our giant rookie Osborn a go before him. Do you want him back and we can take back Maric? :p

I'm tossing up between Lobbe and Jacobs for a spot in my team at the moment although they would be swept aside by a fit Nic Nat

Here's hoping it's this year, for the sake of my FDL team.

Nic Nat vs Lobbe

This is if Nic Nat is 100% fit in the NAB cup and will play 20+ games during the season... I've seen a couple people state they have Lobbe at a 108 average for 2014, what will Nic Nat average? How many rucks will average 100+ this season? In 2013 it was just 3 (Goldy, Minson and Cox). Could we see 5, 6 or more rucks average 100+?

In case you can't tell, rucks are really starting to hurt my head.

On criteria you've listed you'd have to think 105+ for Nic Nat if he plays a full season and with their draw. Depends somewhat I would have thought on his recovery and how long it takes for him to hit his straps.

Hun article today quotes Cox saying expects Nic Nat to "play some NAB Cup action into next month", so good sign at this stage if it bears true.

West Coast big gun Dean Cox tips more ground time with AFL interchange limits

A SLIMMER Dean Cox has improved his fitness levels as he braces for extended game time ahead of a new AFL premiership campaign.

The veteran West Coast ruckman says the new interchange rotation cap of 120 for each game will force top players to stay on the ground longer. Cox anticipates extended stints up forward, which was a successful ploy in tandem with ruck partner Nic Naitanui two years ago.

And Cox is confident Naitanui will be fully recovered from ongoing groin problems to play a full season after managing just 11 injury-effected appearances last year.

He is also adamant that Naitanui is the Eagles premier ruck force when fully fit and firing.

"Certainly if Nic is up and running and fully fit he is our No. 1 ruckman," Cox said.

"But I have also certainly said throughout my career that whoever is in there on the ball at the time, has got to be known as the No.1."

Cox and Naitanui bagged 52 goals between them alternating between ruck and forward in a lethal combination that won them All-Australian selection in 2012.

Cox expects to turn back the clock to the last Eagles finals series in tandem with Naitanui, as well as emerging young ruck hopefuls Scott Lycett and Callum Sinclair.

"With the 120 rotations, that's going to have a bearing on some of the player flexibility," Cox said.

"Players will be required to spend more time playing different positions and for myself and Nic or Scotty or Callum that is spending time forward as well.

"I suppose that's back to 2011-12 where we spent chunks of games forward where we weren't rucking in the forward line."

Cox conceded he had dropped a few kilograms over his summer.

With an increased workload last season as Naitanui battled injury and fatigue, Cox bagged just 13 goals and suffered his lowest possession average an outing at just under 16 for the first time in a decade.

"Previously we'd be spending 40 per cent of our game in the forward line," he said.

"That was one of the pleasing things of 2012, when we both kicked mid-to-high 20 goals each.

"That's virtually like another key forward for us.

"That's what we need to do and we're resting down there, we're playing as a key forward.

"Last year, my reduced numbers are from the less amount of time there.

"The inaccuracy was something I wasn't too pleased about.

"I suppose some of the shots come from positions that ideally on the ground that I wouldn't like to try to kick goals from but also a bit of fatigue sets into that and that's something I will rectify through this pre-season.

"Nic playing a full season we will be able to generate plenty of attacking moves from around the ground and have an impact no matter where we are."

Cox expects Naitanui to join full training in the coming weeks and to play some NAB Cup action into next month.

"I think he will certainly be back into full training shortly," Cox said.

"His running loads are great and his body is pulling up really well from all the training programs so far and hopefully it just continues from that as we ramp it up.

"He's such an important part of our footy team to make sure that his work rate is really monitored throughout the year as well and that he can front up pain free. That's the main thing."

Cox tips some distinct changes in playing style as West Coast adapt to new coach Adam Simpson, he stopped short of any bold predictions of making it back into finals after missing out last year.

"We're aiming for a lot of improvement and if we can get our best side on the park and adapt to Simmo's new style as quickly as possible, then we're good enough to win more games than we lose," Cox said.

"Whether that's finals or where you finish and how far into them you go is the same for everyone at the minute the expectation is to certainly improve.

"Any side will also surely say that they have had a really good pre-season as well and expect improvement.

"We're under no illusions it will mean a lot of work, but we will certainly improve."

Firstly, to answer your Question, I'd go with NicNat. Doesn't fail when he is 100% fit. I'm not sure what all the talk about Lobbe is (I haven't been catching up at the moment), but I don't rate him. Plus, it is a risk with him.

I think NicNat will get a 105+ Average, possibly even a 110.

In 2014, this is who I think will have a 100+ Average: Minson, Goldy, Zac Clarke, NicNat

Fingers crossed that Nic Nat has overcome last season's problems. He burned me last year after I traded him into my team. Learned a valuable lesson: don't touch a player with an interrupted preseason. He needs to complete all training and be firing on all cylinders but he has amazing potential.

Year Games Average
2009 10 57.4
2010 22 71.2
2011 20 93.8
2012 20 114.2
2013 11 96.2

Leunberger has to be everyone's first pick doesn't he?

Sandi at that price has to be a look in.

And will Collingwoods young fella get the second year blues?????

AFL Club: Brisbane :D:D

Out of curiosity, how do you see Brisbane setting up with West and do you think he'll have any impact on Leuenberger's score? I think Brissy picking West up made Leuenberger a little less appealing sharing the ruck duties.
