Is McEvoy a consideration now that he is back as No1 Ruck?
Is he the #1? 17-12 in CBA's is a fairly even split, I expect a lot of the main rucks numbers to be down in these matches to ease them into the season, sharing the ruck load. Martin had more CBA's than English too (19-10), I would have expected English to have a larger share than that usually.

I probably took it more as a sign I didn't want him in my team. When I read that, I was leaning towards Duggan/Witherden instead but done a restructure. Now have Docherty at D4. Having Whitfield out has made that D3/4 spots iffy for me.
Hmm I’m not sure I like the Docherty pick over a cheaper ZWilliams, he got a lot of attention last year and Saad is coming in. I don’t reckon Williams will be playing 50% midfield, I think it will be more

Agree with your thought process, in that I’m not sure how literally we should take this.

If we assume Martin plays 80% TOG with a 50-50 split of that across the midfield and forward line, it still means there’s scope for Williams to split his time (say) 60% mid, 20% forward and 20% bench.

Ie Williams and Martin could theoretically “share” a mid spot, but Williams could end up with decent midfield minutes if he also plays mid while Martin is benched.

I did remove Williams following the article, but I was lineball on him anyway.

I can see how this would make some cautious about picking him and it's not an ideal bit of information, but I still reckon he is going to play more mid time than Martin, he is more suited to that role and than half-forward (Martin vice-versa) and I see this happening naturally.

I just don't see any other pick representing as much value and upside in the back line around that price.

I'm not keen on Docherty, who had ankle surgery in the o***eason, got tagged heaps last year and scored much worse in those games after a hot start and has Saad sharing the back line with him now. He has great scoring history and could prove me wrong but after two ACL's I'm unconvinced he can get back to that level.

From the evidence I saw in today's practice game, I agree that Williams will get far more time than Martin in the middle - I reckon it was about a 75/25 split although Dow went in the middle a few times today & Williams went fwd. He is certainly back in the frame for me from what I saw today.

I agree. It was looking as though it may have been a genuine split for he and Martin based on Martin's comments and how it was looking early in the game but it turned out that Williams has spent the majority of his time in the midfield so hopefully that's the way it's going to be during the H & A season.

Also back into contention for a spot in my starting lineup.

I only saw 15 mins of the saints Roos game
Webster got a lot of it
Another mid price option
Scored well in 2018. Beautiful left foot kick

But of an under the radar pod if he plays well again next game
Was showing solid progression and form (6 100s from his last 7) until an adductor injury in R13 2018 seemed to slow him down.
Only averaged 67 after that with a string of injuries (had a plate in his hand; then multiple hammys).
Is he best 22 when fit now? The back 6 at the saints seems fairly settled, minus the recent out.

Yeah it seems to be that way, I also don't think Williams will be as bad of a scorer when playing half-forward as he was in those brief periods last year.

Hunter Clark to the midfield would certainly open up a spot for him which seems to be the plan based on their first game. Paton injury also an opening.

So he's definitely a chance. Such an awkward price though with so many variables in play and his durability record.
