Currently I am running with Young at D5, Cox D6, Koschitzke (seems the most likely 123k back rookie) D7 & Highmore D8. Contemplating going with a floating donut/ capt loophole at D8 (maybe A Fyfe def/mid 102K) with Flynn looking likely at R3 along with the amount of fwd & mid rookies that seem quite viable.
So you have put a line threw Gould? Don’t think he plays?

He averaged 129 points in the NAB League 2 years ago, plays a SC scoring friendly game.
I am hoping he could average at least 80 - of all the sub 300K defender options, he appeals to me by far the most.
I think I'm there with you but 85 seems a long way from 80 for some reason (which i agree seems very viable) and I think 85+ is what's needed for him to be a really really good pick

I don’t currently own him but I think he’s a decent pick. Wouldn’t surprise me if he gets close to a 100 average this season, possibly even more than 100.
that’s the thing with the defenders there’s more then 10 I like this year. So tough to choose!

Lloyd laird Stewart mills Docherty l Mac Duggan Ryan Whitfield when fit short ridley Daniel all on my radar
So hard to pick at this stage! Just wish Whitfield was fit much like titch

The only problem with a lack of rookies is the more premiums you take the more you have to make certain you get it right because if you miss one who goes boom you're gonna have a hard time making room.

From what I've seen Cox is the only defender rookie so far, luckily to me he looks an on-field level (even better given the premium!).

After that you've got Kosi, who looks very much a bench only guy.

I believe James Madden is at least on the radar of the Lions.

Jarvis is on the fringe at Geelong.

Ling has a premium but he and Gould both have a chance at a spot for Sydney.

Jordan Butts also has a premium but is at least a very solid chance of playing and as a defender who can mark in a team that's probably not very good he should at least have a chance to score in a game or two.

Zuthrie actually looked really good, think it's the preseason fools gold given names out but play like that a couple of times and you at least have a chance, play like it in the real stuff and you force the coaches to keep you there.

L. Young is expensive but made the North team against the Saints and would be in play at least if picked, rebounding defender so could score well. Menadue at the same price range but probably not as enticing a scorer.

Starts to be expensive from there but if we're desperate there's a couple of 200k types. Ultimately if there is nothing I guess we pick more forward/mids, to be honest I feel better with the back premiums anyway.

Do you think harmes is worth a punt?

Just keep an eye on Harmes during the match next Monday. Viney and Brayshaw both expected to play so Melbourne will have a full-strength midfield. If Harmes looks to still have a favourable role in that game then he becomes a decent option.

Is Nick Stevens a chance ?

Although it looks like they could be missing 3-4 Best 22 from their Round 1 side in any case , so could play one and quickly vanish.
