It's an interesting way of looking at it, but I think you have to factor the trade into it.
So just like the Goldstein conundrum, I would only be starting Libba over Pendles, if I was confident the Loose Change was saving me a trade somewhere else.
Assuming you have a little bit of spare other cash you could spend the money on Lobbe to Goldy, or base def rookie to a Smith/Rich/Eski type or an expensive forward rookie to a Franklin. All of those options to me save a trade and buy at least 180 points.

Or you splash it around some of your rookies and get a stronger cash cow base if that looks necessary.

Or you make a similar decision somewhere else and then you pump up a mid rookie to Pendles just to confuse us even more :p

There's lots of swings and roundabouts to the various scenarios but I think fundamentally someone priced 30-35 ppg below what you think they will score needs to be looked at even if that player is in the midfield.

Totally agree.
Just my own opinion, but using the money to upgrade a Def Rookie to Smith/Rich/Eski is just selling a shovel to buy a spade. I don't have confidence in any of them to be strong, season long picks in 2016.

True but it's ultimately about points on the board and taking some punts to get said points even if your side is a little bit ugly on paper. Let's say Eski goes at 100 and the def rookie on field was 60 then wow Libba over Pendles has generated maybe 300 extra points and no matter how perfect someone else's nicely upgraded no-Libba starting team is they probably don't claw back those 300 points. In fact anything Eski (say) goes over 75 is a win under that scenario (that's the extra 15ppg Pendles got over Libba).

The problem with these theories is you don't know the answer until after it has happened.

Lesson here: use the cash generated WISELY!

Let's have a look at the players nominated for the 'coach's choice awards' ;)

Note: if DPP, the player has been selected in the position I have deemed best - generally pure mids in mid only, others open to my excellent and skillful interpretation (lol - sometimes I make myself laugh out loud - lol)

UPDATE - 13/2/16

Def
1 Brown M (Ess) - 47%
2 Shaw - 24%
3 Aish - 23%
4 Yeo - 21%
5 Smith B - 21%
6 Francis - 19%
7 Bartel - 17%
8 Weitering - 17%
9 Hartley - 16%
10 McVeigh - 16%

Barely any movement in the backs - people obviously structure settled and waiting for NAB.

Mid
1 Libba - 54%
2 Ablett - 52%
3 Rocky - 38%
4 O'Meara - 29%
5 Crouch B - 27%
6 Parish - 26%
7 Pendles - 26%
8 Danger - 25%
9 Fyfe - 19%
10 Freeman - 16%

A little bit of jiggling in the midsection - BCrouch up two spots and Fyfe up one.

Ruc
1 Lobbe - 28%
2 Goldy - 24%
3 Cox M - 13%
4 Blicavs - 13%
5 Martin - 12%
6 NicNat - 12%
7 OldGrimey - 11%
8 Wyatt - 9%
9 Vardy - 8%
10 Currie - 8%

Now, either I have changed my decision making for this line or OldGrimey and Vardy are big movers - into the top 10. Goldy has dropped 1% in ownership o_O

Fwd
1 PetRocka - 55%
2 Kerridge - 45%
3 Chopsticks - 39%
4 WellStep? - 24%
5 Buddy - 23%
6 Simpkin - 22%
7 Looney - 20%
8 Barlow - 17%
9 Indahaus - 18%
10 MrAnderson - 17%

Current flavour of the second - WellStep? jumps up three spots while Looney drops three. Barlow firms up two spots.

just a suggestion - maybe extend your list to a top 15 or 20 in the D, M and F lines as at the moment I cant put together a cookie cutter team due to lack of rookies listed, and later the rookies will rise up and there will probably be a lack of premos
