So the practice round is complete and I thank those that played along to help gain valuable information in formulating the finals comp. Apologies for the messy start on Friday and Saturday with the Victorian regional lockdown causing me some issues which resulted in me forgetting the Car v GWS game on Sat night and then posting the Sunday game entry forms much later than I wanted to.

Not for the first time @Connoisseur proved to be in a class of his own and scored under par having participated in all 9 games. @Crowls was also under par but only played 4 games. Outside of that the scores were very high which is something for me to ponder. I think it is highly likely that it will not be a purely cumulative comp across all 9 finals because the experience of last year and now this practice round shows that all bar a few are way out of contention by the time you get to the final games and that is not desirable. I have a few ideas which I will mull over for a few days and then publish final rules and entry forms by Tuesday night so they are available to start using by Wednesday, a couple of days before the first game on Friday night.

Finally note that this was just a practice round and the game proper doesn't start until this coming week. If you did not participate this weekend but have been following along and would like to play then just post and I will include you.

Thanks again.

SCS 2021 AFL Finals Golf - Full Details

So everybody has had an air swing and a practice putt and a few have even nailed one straight down the centre however now it is time to step up on to the first tee under championship pressure and see what you are made off.

Having considered the results in the practice round and how things transpired last year I have made one reasonably significant change to how the competition will run this year which is unashamedly about keeping more people in contention (and therefore interested) for longer. The changes (in bold) and the final rules are as follows.
  • Four players will be nominated from each team for each game where 1 of 9 points brackets is selected.
  • An emergency is also nominated for each team which will only be used if one of the 4 primary players nominated does not play.
  • A captain must also be nominated and if the nominated captain does not play then the captain will become the Emergency for that team.
  • To avoid doubt if more than 1 player does not play then we will just proceed with less players; It is not feasible to update the players and then have everybody who has already submitted tips resubmit.
  • Scoring - Correct bracket Eagle (-2); 1 bracket off Birdie (-1); 2 off Par (-); 3 off Bogey (+1); 4 or more off (+2)
  • The nominated captain's score will be doubled.
  • Each week of finals only the lowest scoring game from that week will count towards a participants cumulative total.
  • The winner will be the participant who achieves the lowest aggregate of those 4 scores across the finals series.
  • The entry forms should not allow a player being missed however if there is some calamity that results in a no selection being recorded for a player in a game then the a default bracket of number 8 will be used.
  • It is not necessary to play every game however playing every game obviously increases the chances of achieving a low score that will be used in the aggregate.
  • For those games where a participant does not submit selections their score for that game will be determine using a default bracket of 8 for each player and the captain will be final player listed in the captain selection list on the form.
