How society deals with social media has a long, long way to improve if the "good old days" are to ever return. Need to remember how stupid the average person is and that most people that utilise social media sites cannot comprehend the worldwide reach it has compared to the past nor any filtration whereas in the past (not alive and only guesswork) I gather these sort of complaints/opinions were limited to say letters to the editor or certain social settings (pub, etc) and thus thIs is why we see the perpetuation of the manufactured culture wars today. This is exactly the response they are seeking.
No one forced him to apologise. After how many mentions, engagements online does it warrant a response? Whose opinion holds any credibility/importance, why should we care what they have to say and how is it determined whether the public consensus is approval or disapproval? Either Luke or his management team (ZXF Sports Management- manage Dobey and Aspinall as well) would have issued the statement. If they had waited another 12-24 hours, would anyone still care, would this still be in the endless news cycle, would they see any need to issue a response and whose attention span wpuld recall this information?
Advertisers and Page 3 (
- hopefully someone understands the reference) are close to the only reason why The Sun has carved out a long stay and the year argument is a flimsy approach.
How low can the Sun stoop to chase relevancy by leeching onto Littler and handing him their prop for the photo op. Why would any reader care that he reads The Sun when more pressing issues are at hand such as his favour Kebab selection or franchise? Even the local papers know not to hand a copy out for the photo op for their young sportsplayer of the week award.
To preface the above, I know I am not the youngest on the forum but would not be surprised if it was close too for this thread. An introvert and this site has been the closest I have reached to any form of social media until some dullard threw money down a well and has now jumped down to chase it, restricting non users to view posts. I shouldn't be that strong with my convictions given I likely committed social suicide (Recently upgrading from a flip phone a few years ago (after school, uni) didn't help that cause)
