Stephen Bunting:

2014 BDO World Champion, 2015 PDC World Championship Quarter Finalist and 2021 Semi Finalist. In between those, only one appearance past the second round (4th round in 2020). A possible third round matchup against Chisnall awaits, with Chisnall holding an 11-7 lead in the PDC head to head, winning their last eight matchups.

Ryan Searle:

A stark contrast to Stephen Bunting’s 12 gram darts, as Ryan throws 32gram darts, the heaviest in PDC history.

Even more impressive is his ability to perform at such a high level with astigmatism.

Krzysztof Ratajski:
A quiet year with no quarter final appearances in TV tournaments compared to four in 2021 (Grand Prix, Worlds, Matchplay and UK Open). A potential third round match up against Dimitri who holds a 9-4 lead against Krzysztof in career head to head along with posting the higher average, checkout percentage and 180ks per leg over the past 12 months.

Karel Sedlacek: Qualified 18th through the Pro Tour Order of Merit without holding a tour card.

Boris Krcmar:
Highly accomplished soft tip darts player with four International Darts Federation World Championships, nine European Darts Championships (4/10 in singles and 5/10 cricket) and eight EDU European Championships (4 singles and 4 cricket). The scoring power and finishing of Aspinall should be too much to handle if he defeated Toru Suzuki.

Adam Gawlas:
Debut at the World Championships for Adam and impressed in losing efforts at the Grand Slam and on the closed door events (Development Tour and Players Championship).

Sebastian Bialecki:
Three unsuccessful attempts at Q School so far but has impressed on both occasions at the UK Open. A nine darter in 2021 and a quarter final appearance in 2022. Tough matchups against Jim Williams and James Wade but if close to his best, he could surprise a few with a run to the third or fourth round. Will need to imrpove his average (past 12 months of 88.27)

Vladyslav Omelchenko:
Won the newly introduced Ukrainian Qualifier and his darting story can be found below. Per Darts Orakel his average for that qualifier was 69.97 which is more than 20 points below that of his first round opponent Luke Woodhouse (91.55).

Jose de Sousa:
Unconvincing form recently and faces a tough schedule to navigate which could includes the likes of S Whitlock, R Searle, R Van Barneveld or G Price. Scoring has slightly dipped and always a concern with his finishing due to his penchant for a miscount.

Jim Williams:
2020 runner up to Wayne Warren in the British Darts Organisation (BDO) World Championship Final before moving to the PDC and winning the Challenge Tour in 2021. In doing so, he received a spot at the 2022 World Championships and got out to a 2-1 lead over Joe Cullen before losing 2-3.

Winner of a Players Championship event in 2022 and has a very nice checkout percentage of 40.49% over the past twelve months. Capable of making it to the fourth round if he can get past Wade in the second round.

Gabriel Clemens:
One of the seeds I feel is in most danger. First round exits at all TV tournaments since the UK Open where his only win came against a Rob Cross averaging below 90. Without double checking across all the TV tournaments, I seem to recall him struggling with his finishing and thus is not a convincing selection.

William O’Connor:
Impressed as an unseeded player over the last few years and has consistently won a match or two over his past four appearances and has gone close to causing a few upsets.
Miscounted against Gerwyn Price in 2020 to go a leg ahead against the throw in the deciding set.
Lost the deciding set 0-3 against Gurney in 2021 after coming back from a two deficit.
Lost 2-4 to 2022 runner up Michael Smith in the third round.

Beau receiving a lot of attention and rightfully so due to her performances this year, so Willie is flying under the radar (2022 UK Open Semi Finalist) and his experience should hold him in good stead for the matchup Aand possibly the crowd.

Daryl Gurney:
Defending his prize money from his quarter final run at the 2021 World Championships. First year that Daryl has failed to make a quarter final of a televised ranking event. Another seed in danger due to a likely matchup with the ever impressive Alan Soutar and hopefully Soots extinguishes any thought Daryl has of providing an encore.

Danny Noppert:
By far his best year in the PDC which currently includes a UK Open title, Semi Final at the World Matchplay, Quarter Finals at the European Championships and Players Championships Finals. Has a nice run to the quarter finals with Soutar and Wade posing the biggest threat in the bottom half of Section 1. Up to 9th in the Order of Merit and should be a popular selection in the 9th to 16th bracket.
