Can't believe Shane Warne died
Me either.
There was a stage in my life where I knew him personally.
His best mate was my best mate's younger brother.
He actually took 4 of us into the changing rooms after a days play at the MCG during the Boxing Day test. There was basically just the 4 of us, the 11 players, and 2 or 3 doctors/physios.
The stories I could tell you about him. And probably not the type of stories you might think.
Suffice it say, you've heard people express the opinion he can be a pretty ordinary bloke. I can only echo those sentiments. The way he treated those supposedly close to him (not me in particular), or pretending to not even know people (this he did do to me, but gave me a look that told me, he did remember me, but wasn't going to acknowlege it!)
I knew him from when he was about 16 (and I was 24), until he was in his mid 20's. He changed. It was like he just decided one day, that everyone he knew before hand didn't exist, and only his cricket mates, and guys like Aaron Hamill etc were amongst his peers. He totally burnt my best mate's younger brother, and in a pretty cruel way too. They were best mates for 8 or 10 years, then it was like Shane just threw a switch, and Nick didn't even exist anymore.
It was sad for Nick, but it also made me sad for Shane. Anyone that can treat real friends like that, will only end up with fake, fly-by night friends. Shane's brother Jason is a good bloke though. I haven't seen him much since I moved to Denmark though.
