Still waiting for @Jordan’s Jets but looking like best dates (which work for Ken) are:

Mon 8 March (which Diabolical and Lappinitup can’t do)
Tues 9 March (which GG, Connoisseur and Deeman can’t do)
Wed 10 March (which Darkie can’t do)
Mon 13 March (which Diabolical can’t do)

If we can’t find a date in that week, perhaps we try the prior week as well….? I’m open to doing the FA draft before all the preseason games finish if it means a live FA draft! I think PSD is workable offline as long as people are reasonably active.
I ticked yes to Monday the 6th and Wednesday the 8th.. so can do any weekday dates, only two I said no to were long weekend nights (happy with the monday as its a "school night")

Think it was Phil and Diabolical on the Monday.

I have issues on a Monday because I don’t get home until around 9pm. Sometimes 8.30, but can’t guarantee it. If we can start that late I will be able to make it.
Sounds like a 9pm start for Mon 13 March is workable for the PSD!

A similar 9pm start for the FA on Mon 6 March might be possible if that works for @Philzsay

Yep a late start I can do. Monday nights (except public holiday) I have a thousand uber drives for my kids to do but would be wrapped up and hence available around 830.

Hey guys, sorry to those of you that have sent me trade discussion messages this week.
Outside of work I've had a bit going on this week with cricket and a couple of other health concerns within my partners family.
Throw in on top of that my sisters uni access to Microsoft Office (which I had been using) finally expired, so I haven't been able to play around with my spreadsheets :ROFLMAO:

Come Sunday (after cricket tomorrow) I will be crunching through things and will get back to each of the PMs for some serious UL discussions.

The Darkness’ list management team is gearing up for the auction and draft in a few weeks’ time.

The club is able to offer the following:

- FWDs (6 who went 79+, plus Mclean who should exceed that, and others who may become MFs)

- DEFs (6 who went 84+, plus Short and Pendles who likely gain DPP)

- Young talent

- MID depth

- Ability to absorb some salary (eg accepting an overpriced premium, at appropriate value)

- Quality draft picks

If any of this is of interest, please just let me know.

Happy to work with other clubs to find/structure deals that work for both sides.

Just wanted to give a quick heads up on one thing, as we head into what could be a busier trade period with the auction and draft in a few weeks.

Typically, if I am in trade discussions, I won’t offer a player, or knowingly offer the same pick, to two different coaches, without flagging to both that that’s the case (given that I haven’t yet figured out how to trade the same player twice … which means that one coach would miss out).

I can see that coaches are ramping up at different paces this preseason. Some are also more inclined to start negotiations or make suggestions, whereas others may prefer to respond to an idea.

I’m inclined to present a few offers to maybe make that process a bit easier for some, by getting the ball rolling with a specific idea/starting point/outright offer.

Given that, I may involve the same players in multiple offers at times, and take a bit of a first come first served approach on any specific interest. If you have interest in a particular pick or player I have offered, please let me know, and I’ll try to bear that in mind/keep you posted on any alternate interest.

@KLo30 I just want to double check a couple of things with my team as I work through options.

Mihocek and Quaynor are not showing on the RFA tab, but I am assuming that they are RFAs?

I am assuming that McLean, Thilthorpe and Treacy will have ruck eligibility added to the position?

Only took you over 12 months to realise Mihocek and Quaynor weren't on the RFA list.

I haven't gone through all the Ruck eligible players for teams. I'll do so before the season starts, overwriting the formula intake.

QUESTION AND ANSWER TIME

(1) A FA or RFA player can be paid anywhere from 50% to 150% of their contracted salary in a given year. This needs to be set when they are acquired at auction, and can’t later be changed by their owner (only in a trade, via salary support being provided).

Once the salary structure of any player is set it cannot be changed for the duration of the contract. "Salary support" is the sum of the parts.

(2) If a player is on a back ended contract and they are delisted, their owner has to pay the difference between their salary in the remaining years, and the average that they were signed for. This represents a disincentive to back ending contracts - it basically reverses any benefit to having back ended in the first place because the surplus salary is payable anyway.

It is an incentive to ensure that teams research players before offering them contracts. In addition, it is in fairness to other teams. Paying only the difference between average salary and yearly salary is a discount given as SCSUL teams didn't make the decision. The player and/or AFL club did.

(3) There is no such adjustment applied when a player with a front ended contract is delisted. This is because the coach has already paid more than they would have paid with a normal contract that isn’t front ended.

Correct.

(4) Second contract players’ contracts can be front or back ended, but only in a set fashion. For a 5 year deal, for example, the options are 100%, 100%, 140%, 160%, 180%, or 180%, 160%, 140%, 100%, 100%. A three year deal would be 100%, 100%, 140% or 140%, 100%, 100%.

Correct.

(5) FA and RFA contract length and individual yearly salaries will be set in the days after the auction, but before the draft.

The contract length and average salary is set at auction. The yearly salaries are set in the days after the auction before the draft.

(6) Second contract extensions and individual yearly salaries (subject to the limits mentioned in (4) will be set in the days after the draft, but before the AFL season commences.

The 2nd contract length and yearly salary are set in the days after the auction before the draft. The exception being if a 2nd contract player is delisted by a team and subsequently drafted in the PSD. The team would then have 24 hours to enter those details.

I think this is how we are going to navigate the Byes and extra AFL round.

Start in AFL Round 1, as usual, and then marry AFL Rounds 12, 13 and 14 to produce a SCSUL fixture for two rounds. With the extra round we don't need to navigate AFL Round 15, so that will be a SCSUL Bye Round. It will be a good time to assess your team and provide a chance to look to organise trades before the trade deadline before SCSUL Round 17.

If we have a different Bye Round then navigating the AFL Byes looks like this, which for me is far too messy with half games counting every which way.

Btw does anyone have zoom premium to use at the auction? As we cancelled our paid account a while ago.

We could use an alternative otherwise.

My work account is, I believe, we use teams for everything. However, I do have a Zoom account to host webinars and one off meetings (not a super user). Sure I can figure it out, want to send me emails or have we historically just posted the link in here?
