OLLIE WINES GIVEN ONE MATCH CLUB SUSPENSION OVER JOYRIDE
By Jon Ralph
Oliver Wines tonight has created a piece of unwanted history by becoming the first Dagobah Immortal player, and indeed the first SCS Ultimate League player to be handed a Club Suspension.
Wines will miss the Immortals inaugural SCS Ultimate League clash on the weekend with the Jordan's Jets after taking a jedi starfighter for a joyride. The starfighter belonged to a Dagobah Immortals benefactor, occurring in the early hours of the morning after a Immortals private function. Numerous Immortals players, coaches, administrators as well as Club sponsors and influencial benefactors were at the function celebrating the impending SCS Ultimate season launch.
Wines and other players had been given a private tour of the starfighter earlier in the night, with Immortals youngster Noah Balta posting the below picture of Wines on Instagram before the function had even begun.
It is uncertain whether any other Immortals players were involved in the incident, which occurred a couple of hours after the function had concluded.
Immortals Manager Philzsay released the following statement: "Regretfully Oliver Wines has been suspended for one game after what he admits was a rash and irresponsible decision during the week. Wines deeply regrets his actions and has apologised the the Club, the players and all involved. He has taken full responsibility for his actions. Wines will be available for selection in Round 2, where if picked, he hopes to make up the damage he has caused".
The Herald-Sun can report that no one was hurt in the incident, with the starfighter returned in one piece to it's owner. Wines suspension is particularly costly for the Immortals with fellow midfielder Brandon Ellis set to miss with a calf injury, however it opens up the door for Harley Bennell, who takes Wines spot in the team.
