Good evening and welcome to very first 'SCSUL Lockhart Medal Count'.

Named in honour of the leagues founder and commissioner, Ken Lockhart, the 'Lockhart Medal' is awarded to both the best and fairest player. Adjudged by the umpires, votes are awarded on a 3,2,1 basis to the players who make the greatest individual contribution across each and every fixture throughout the entire SCSUL Home and Away season.

Without further ado, we will now get the count underway...

"And the winner of the 2020 Lockhart Medal, with 31 Votes is, Lachie Neale, of the Creme De La Creme Fantasy Football Club"

"Lachlan Neale, son of Robbie and Amanda, born 24 May 1993, was the fourth player auctioned in the 2020 SCSUL Top 60 Players Auction. Neale attracted bids from all bar one team, with Creme De La Creme getting their man on a six year, $6,000,000 dollar deal. Neale would go on to be announced as the clubs captain for the inaugural SCSUL season, and lead his side to a Preliminary Final appearance.

Playing all 18 home and away fixtures, Neale averaged a massive 138 SuperCoach points, with only YRA captain Max Gawn averaging more for the season. Neale won Bay Villas Resort All-Ultimate honours, and was also announced as the captain of the leagues representative side. Neale's total of 31 votes was an extraordinary 12 more votes than Timelords ruckman Nic Naitanui (19 votes), who placed second in the count.

Please be upstanding as we raise a toast for the '2020 Lockhart Medalist', Lachie Neale".

Lockhart Medal - Top 10

1st Winner - Lachie Neale (31 Votes)

A bargain, if I do say so myself!

For all of his individual honours he will be handsomely compensated financially in 2021 and 2022.

Across each of the four weeks of SCSUL finals, votes were awarded on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis to the players who produced the best individual performances in each game. It is expected that over the coming years this award will be re-named in honour of a player or coach.

The 2020 SCSUL Finals MVP Award has been won by two players. The Jets Premiership defender, Jack Crisp, has finished on 7 votes, equal with Steven May of The Giants, who was acquired from the Jabukanji Stingers in the lead up to the trade deadline.

Congratulations to both Jack and Steven on fantastic finals series, and seasons.

The final award to put a full stop on a wonderful 2020 SCSUL season is the Norm Smith Medal, awarded to the player who produces the highest score in the SCSUL Grand Final. Similar to Finals MVP Award, it is expected that this medal will be renamed in honour of a player or coach in future years.

With a score of 174, midfielder Jed Anderson of Jordan's Jets FC is the first winner of the Norm Smith Medal.
Anderson set the tone for The Jets early, quickly putting the The Giants on the back foot in the contest, with his 30 disposals, 3 tackles and a goal a wonderful performance from the man taken in the 13th Round (Pick 123) of the Open Draft.

Jack Watts has announced his retirement, effective immediately.

“I’m so grateful for all of the opportunities and experiences footy has given me and the friendships I will take with me away from the game. I’m not sure what the future holds just yet but I’m looking forward to some time away from the limelight.”
Creme de la Creme are relying on the return of J Watts who was been confined to the clubs aquatic centre since his arrival, with minimal contact with the playing group, or H Young retaining his spot in the side to avoid a donut in defence, assuming there are no shock recalls.
In honour of his very short tenure, Crème de la Crème have finally found a sponsor for our Aquatic Centre.

The Dagobah Immortals would like to thank Harley Bennell for his services, after announcing his retirement today.

Bennell did not quite reach the heights he and the Immortals coaches thought he was capable of.

"He was always a worth a punt, there was upside potential, unfortunately it did not quite work out" coach/list manager Philzsay said today.
"Fans will be able to thank him at the Club Best and Fairest in the next month"

When questioned what this means for the list management team, Philzsay quipped "Yeah he had one yeah left on the contract so yeah I probably better look up the SCS Ultimate rules"

In other news Philzsay also confirmed the naming of the B & F Medal will revealed later this week.

H Shaw is the latest player to join the mass exodus at Creme de la Creme and has already been seen placing wagers on the 2021 Lockhart Medal and other SCSUL futures.
