On the flip side it could be argued that if you want any fully priced players to take them straight up, as any players you trade in later you will have for a less percentage of than than if it was a 22 game season.
The more players you have outscoring their starting price the better the start you will have. But as your starting picks prices start matching their scoring then the more higher scoring players regardless of their price the better. Over 23 rounds it is a balancing act between not falling too far behind yet still being able to finish strongly. Over 17 rounds the not falling too far behind becomes more important so you need more players who will outscore their starting price.
We normally get 7 or 8 rounds with a full team and this is where team builders come home strongly but this year we will only get 2 or 3 rounds with a full team so early value is more important.
If we still have 30 trades then holding injured premiums might have to be rethought as falling behind early becomes more of a problem.

But that would force more rookie scores on field and less rounds post being fully upgraded to catch it up

Well put

A GnR side will never catch up the right value side

Think also donuts to play/FDs should be avoided even more so in a shorter season. You have a shorter time to generate cash so you really need rookies to be playing from the start so they can be turned over quickly. $100k cash gen from players is a win.

Also, if anyone can find a successful stepping stone or a Marshall type, they'll really fly ahead this season.

If there is a high risk of a team being pulled at short notice from playing one round (Thus two teams not playing), it would probably be safer to make sure we have a thin spread of players from all teams.

For example, I don’t think I would start with two premiums from one team.

EDIT: So looking at my team, I now need to weigh up ...

If a team gets pulled, they will all get pulled imo.

If one player tests positive, everything is put on hold, not just the teams directly impacted. This was stated in the press release.

I think the more value players on field from the outset the better now. Completely fine to end up with a player that's say in the 8-12th best average in a line if you've had them play from the outset.

As a small restructure, I've done Neale/rookie to Houston in the mids and A.Brayshaw up fwd for the time being. A shorter season is also probably better for a Brayshaw type so he doesn't tire late season. Also some uncertainty about when Neale cops the De Boer tag as well.

My thinking at this point is it’s time to reconsider all top priced picks and limit rookies on field in favour of value picks.

Pending announcements on any changes to SC game
If there is any annoucement, it would be less trades which would point in favour of a more value based side anyway.

Impact players might score higher now if there is less game time and 3300 total points still on offer.
I agree with this. Kade Simpson was always a dead time specialist. But I don't think shortened games have been confirmed have they?

Yeh I don't think they have been confirmed. If they do need to play multiple games in short time due the league being halted/suspended or something, you would think they would have to shorten the games to allow for proper recovery time for the players.
