Food for though -> It looks like the sub rule is going next year. Does anyone reckon this will impact rucks' scoring? Sub rule has pretty much killed off the second ruck, could we see a comeback?

I think it may depend on if or how many interchange rotations they set. If they make it low many teams may use the fourth bench spot to add another midfielder type to help o***et the less rotations.

If I have done this right, Rocky, could be a steal next season.

Current total of 951 x 600 (120 x 5 games for rest of season) divided by 16 total games = 96.9375 average
When multiplied by this year's magic number, he will start at around 521k if he averages the predicted 120.

My first 6 mids this year were: Ablett, Fyfe, Selwood, Dangerfield, Griffen and Cripps, costing $3,351,800.

VERY EARLY ON in my 2016 pre-preseason plans, my first six mids (with prices based on 2015 MN and predictied averages) are:

Fyfe- 675,200
Ablett- 558,700
Sloane- 553,300
Wines- 523,000
Rockliff- 521,000
Crouch- 357,000

Total: 3,188,200

This gives me an extra 163,600 to spend in 2016 on a stronger F4 (started 2015 with Bellchambers) or a stronger defence (went mid-price like many teams). Of course it all depends on the new stocks of rookies and players with DPP, particularly in defence. All will be revealed in time.

Note: I am way too obsessed with 2016 planning for someone who is having a good 2015 (rank 662).

I have a feeling Herald Sun + SC won't allow Rockliff to start that cheap. They'll price him with a discount, but not the usual discount. They've done this with players in the past to avoid them being locks in 80%+ of teams. I think it's good for the game. Guys like O'Meara will be cheap, but not a guy that averaged 132 last year, and has recorded 0's and had ribs cracked repeatedly during the season.

While I'd love him to be cheap, I doubt he'll be that cheap. Applying the 40% injury discount to Libba makes him $355,920. Daniel Rich price for a bloke who averaged 110 with relative ease in 2014? Lock in basically every team.

Next season will be the easiest to find genuine premium mids at great value. Quite possible to pick 6 for the price of 5. I'm excited already.

Ablett, Rockliff, Pendles & Selwood were all top 5 120+ averaging players in 2014, averaging 512 between them. Currently they average 421 between them this season.

Even Fyfe is a LITTLE BIT under-priced considering he was averaging 134 before 3 lean weeks of sub 100 games.

Shane Mumford $570k odd next year.

With goldy's massive price tag it would only take 1 or 2 average games for him to drop in price significantly.

Could be the stepping stone needed to getting goldy in if your desired structures just aren't allowing you to start goldy due to his massive starting price.

I'd love to be able to start goldy next year if it doesn't effect the structure i choose to roll with as i think he'll have another good year but bottom line is, history shows that ruckman who have there best year struggle to back it up and to be honest I can't see goldy ever having a better year than he is right now.
Bottom line, I don't know how comfortable id be paying top price for goldy if it means throwing my structures out of whack.

If the moons aligned and mumford stayed on the park for at least 7-10 weeks who knows, could be a straight swap before the inevitable happens to mummy.

P.S Im not underselling Goldstein here, I'm just thinking out load. Food for Thought i guess

What are the general rules for injury discounts? I know it's come up on here many times and it's been stated in this thread that 6 games played gives a 10% discount.

What are the other standard reductions? I know that VS reserve the right to price as they want to I just want to know the standard approach they apply in non-exceptional cases.

From Erich a little while back:

For the most part, I was pretty accurate with the discounts, I found. 'Relevant' players such as Leuenberger and Kreuzer seemed to have discount restrictions placed on them by Virtual Sports, no doubt by their consideration for the 'greater good' of the game. In other words, so not absolutely everyone had them. I'll have a quick analysis tomorrow with this years set of data and work out if the discount formula has changed. But until then, here's last years that I based my spreadsheet off (absolutely no idea if it's changed):

6 or 7 games: 10% off if average over 60
4 or 5 games: 20% off if average over 60
3 games: 30% off if average over 60, 20% off if average from 50-60, 10% off if average 40-50
2 games: 30% off if average over 60, 20% off if average from 50-60, 15% off if average 40-50
1 game: 30% off if average over 60, 20% off if average over 35
0 games: 30% off last season average

And for what it's worth, at this stage, I have every plan to re-do that excel spreadsheet again for the 2016 season. Just as long as enough people found it useful..

Just one thing to keep in mind with injury discounts - this year Kreuzer and Leuenberger were priced at their average and weren't given the discounts they were entitled to. I believe it was because Virtual Sports thought they would be in a massive amount of teams if they were given a discount on top of their already low prices. Going off that, I can't see Gary Ablett being given a discount next year.

I'll be keeping a very close eye on Liam Shiels over the next 8 months. Turning into a very very well rounded player. As the Mitchell's and Lewis' age I think he'll take the mantle as their #1 very soon. Massively underrated player.

All I can say is I hope there are heaps of decent rookie defenders and rookie forwards that play round 1 next year because there are going to be so many underpriced premium mids available at the start of the year.

Anyone know how long Minson is contracted for?
I reckon a few clubs would be asking the question.
Change of scenery could do him wonders.

Tom J Lynch will probably get a birth in my starting side in 2016. As will Rocky.

Don't go for the stop gaps. McGovern, Yeo spring to mind. Trade for one up one down, the one up is a planned keeper.
Get in the money makers, can't get 'em all but get most of them. Thank my stars I kept Cripps and Newnes. Do not trade out a premium, how many traded out Selwood/Lewis, hold them.
DPP everywhere.
Hold those trades for dear life..my vow after throwing away the last two years, decimated in the last 3-4 rounds.
Can't help LTI's to Ablett and co., just is, suck it and onwards. Then kick the cat.
Just a few ramblings..

How did you get your hands on a copy of my 2015 SC list of cardinal rules? :p

Have to agree with ALL the points you raised, they have certainly served me well this year and helped me to stayed the course and ultimately rise above the many adversities which my team encountered along the way.

I have to remember to keep my 2016 SC list of rules in a safe place to ensure that it doesn't get 'leaked' to the general public!
