Craig Hutchison and Channel 9 are at loggerheads after the SEN boss froze his major rival out of the AFL App.
Furious Nine bosses have taken their beef to the AFL after they realised 3AW commentary was no longer available on the league’s main matchday social media platform.
Users of the AFL App have previously had the option of choosing to listen to commentary from Triple M, ABC, SEN and 3AW but that has changed this year.
Htuchison negotiated an exclusive deal with the AFL in the new radio rights deal which was signed off late last year, paying a high premium to be the only AM commercial option on the App.
As one industry observer said: “Nine were asleep at the wheel”.
With Hutchison’s Sports and Entertainment Network placing significantly higher value on the App than their rival, the AFL didn’t hesitate to take the cash particularly given what they perceived as Nine’s waning interest in AFL.

The league, and a number of 3AW’s high-profile talent, have been frustrated at the station’s decision to not cover Thursday night games, preferring to play its regular programming of Nights with Denis Walter instead.
They are now down to four games per round whereas SEN’s AFL Nation covers all nine games every weekend.

Assuming all goes well through the next few weeks, and most of us can get down to a full premo or at the most having maybe 2 rookies/midpricers left on field following round 15.
What's the ideal number of trades you'd have for the last 8 or so rounds to cover injuries, suspensions and upgrades?

It’s a good question. Most years I feel like there is a pretty clear consensus on who the top 8 midfielders, top 6 defenders and so on will be (barring maybe 1-2 spots). Especially in the midfield, I don’t think that’s the case this year.
Premos also seem to be holding their value better, presumably because the Magic Number is higher.
From your list, I already have Sinclair and Sicily (and Brayshaw), for better or worse. Gawn and Cripps are probably the other ones that jump out to me, albeit I don’t know that either is an obvious steal at those prices. I’d probably have Neale next for a lowish risk option. De Goey is unproven as a premium, and Dawson seems like a last upgrade if he’s at 600k unless your cash gen is much better than most people’s!

Yeh unfortunately I'm one of the few without Dawson - will be looking at the bye rounds to downgrade rookies in a bid to get him in.

I struggle a bit with De Goey, but as a Pies supporter I am happy to be proven wrong! He’s shown very little to suggest he’s a premium mid before this year, and his CBAs are actually down slightly versus last year (the big jump was in 2022).
Interesting you mention Merrett - he’s the premo I’m bringing in this week, and is one of few I’ve felt pretty good about, even before the Setters/Shiel news. He would be a clear first on that list for me.

Have had Neale and Sicily since the beginning.
Planning Gawn Rd12 assuming he’s got fwd status. Dawson will have to come in Rd15 unfortunately.
Will miss his score vs the Eagles and Suns but I’m hoping he gets nullified by the Dogs and Lions who traditionally pig out on SC points which may o***et the two bigger scores.
Of course if he goes large in 3/4 games, I’m going to have to break the bank to get him.
