I have a conundrum.
I have 5 trades left, and still need to complete my f6 and m8.
I have 5 reasonably fat 'rookies' currently filling these spots and 155k in the bank: Cincotta, Fyfe, Johnson, Wardlaw, Ford.
I can play it safe and hold the trades a touch longer, get the maximum cash from 3 of these players, hold the other 2 as cover and try to get a 2 up 1 down going to middling targets, maybe with a 1 trade upgrade this week (fyfe to cripps for example), this would save 2 trades for injuries, or I can swing for the fences and spend 2 trades now and get anyone, and only have 1 trade injury cover, or potentially be stuck with one of them on field for the rest of the season.
bont and gulden are the main big names I'm missing.
I can only afford bont this week if I go fyfe and Johnson out though, which leaves an unreliable Ford at f6 with no back up other than maric for the foreseeable future, unless I cash him and wardlaw in asap and drop down to a scary 1 trade left.
Gulden doesn't destroy my structure, I could pick any of 2 of the 5 to go and keep whoever to hold down m8 with back up of my choice.

When I planned out my bye trades 2 weeks ago I said I would sit on my hands this round and stop burning trades, but those two just put out monster scores and I hate watching it!

Was going to trade Andrews but might wait a couple of weeks and let the 157 roll out of the cycle. An 80 ave would see him make around 50k.

Humphrey > Gilbee
Ashcroft > Dawson

Leaves 181k ITB and 3 trades left, no rookies on field with Mitchell, Johnson and Maric as cover and the possibility of just 1 trade to get Clarry in a couple of weeks.

This week I'll trade Cincotta and Humphrey to a 102k M/F donut (Bennetts) and Libba. Just need Clarry, fingers crossed for next week, and my team is done. Feels like it will be the strongest completed team I've had. 3 trades left at full premo is okay, especially with reasonable cover. Rank 191 currently. After 3 x top 1000 finishes, is this the team that finally takes me to a top 100 finish?

Cripps at 450k, buy low or no buy?
Really considering bringing him is as my last player over himmelberg to be honest...

So it's either.
Weddle and humphries for Cripps and Mulin/dewar (3 trades and 215k in bank) Mitchell, Johnson and Day's d/M in mid
Or
Humphries to Himmelberg (4 trades, 34k) smitchell, Weddle and Johnson as cover

Can anyone help me out with thoughts?

What does your cover look like? If Piggy Oliver can take a break from partying and get back on the field, Id back Libba to outpace Trac with the dogs fixture.
Im not actually that upset at the scenario I've ended up in, not jumping into the top 10 if you just pick the same mids as all your competition, hopefully a slight Trac regression as finals becomes the focus and Clarry takes back more of the load.

Libba on the other hand is a primary mid and the Dogs need to win every game pretty much, skys the limit with an easy Marvel heavy run home if he can just stay out there for me.

JVR/Humphrey out, Mullin or someone (just to realign my lines to get my keepers back on) and Oliver or comparable in. Six trades, Will Day as M8 so still want to offload a Darcy/Briggs for M8 but need to decide if or when (still got two boosts so could bite the bullet on Darcy > Madden this week and upgrade some numpty next week).

Any idea how one might figure out if the Oliver owners are holders or ghost ships? Or, what is his ownership in the top 1/2k? Thanks

I somehow made my way to a rank of 99. The teams all look very similar. The upgrade options look similar. I want to do something radical!
There are a few very low ownership guys that have the potential to come home strong. I'd have a look at the fixture and see who has a favourable run home that can either keep up a high average or maybe add a few points.

Oliver and Sicily will be ultra PODs you'd imagine, especially at their price and most will have locked that cash into a Petracca type, but you might lose too many points between now and when they are back and firing.

That last sentence is why Im fading both, get the points now, especially when the guys are missing a month plus of footy, are at maximum price and are inevitably losing match conditioning.

Can go Weddle to Ryan and Humphrey to Libba leaving 5 trades and an almost complete team, however Cincotta and Melican rotating D6 for a few weeks which does not sound fun. Another option is Weddle to Ryan and Humphrey to a D6 with Johnson as M8 cover, which I like better but have no idea who the next best defender is after Dawson, Sinclair, Daicos, Stewart and Ryan
