I think players 26-27 years old is a rough 'cap' for top picks, as you want at least 4-5 good years from them to be worth a top pick imo.

I think some good ones (off the top of my head) would be Nick Daicos, Errol Gulden, Connor Rozee, Zac Butters, Tom Green, Chad Warner...

I would suggest having a look at Logan McDonald.

His numbers when Franklin doesn’t play are excellent for a young KPF.

He should hold FWD status throughout his career, and continue to improve from here.

As a Tiger fan, I think that Tyler Sonsie and Judson Clarke could improve significantly. Jack Ross may also have improved scoring if Cotchin retires (as is likely).

As a West Coast fan, Elijah Hewett.

Only averaging 40.67 after his first 9 games. 2 sub affected scores in there. He’s shown a lot of promise so far. Has had a lot of almost moments that with more experience he should make the most of in the future. Pick 14 in the most recent draft so clearly has the talent. Unless something significantly changes to his role, he’ll get MID/FWD status.

I think a second preseason will do him a world of good. He should see an uptick in CBA’s next season. For what it’s worth, I see Ginbey, Hewett and Reid (pending) as our main mids for our next flag tilt.

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley is reportedly keen to have Brodie Grundy at the club in 2024 and beyond.

SEN’s Tom Morris understands that the Power head coach would like the Melbourne ruckman at Alberton provided a deal can be struck this trade period.

“This will not come as a huge shock, but my understanding is that Ken Hinkley himself wants Brodie Grundy next year at the club,” Morris said.

“Scott Lycett is out of contract, so there is that room. If Grundy doesn’t get back in (at Melbourne) and play a meaningful role this year, this will reach a head in the trade period in some way.

“Either Brodie Grundy or his manager would speak to the club (Port Adelaide) or the club would speak to him. I can’t imagine the Demons are wanting to move him on, but if Grundy did to Melbourne what Collingwood did to him last year, then there would at least have to be a conversation.

“Port Adelaide would be right at the very front of that queue.”

Grundy at Port next year would make him very appealing as a potential R2
 
If Ridley looks like he’ll have the same role next year that he had from round 10 this year, I think I’ll have to start him for a third year straight. Averaged 109.2 in that period including 2 injury games (missed roughly 3 quarters combined). Brad Scott’s gameplan is so good for him. Should be priced roughly $525k after averaging 94.9.

Wish he was scoring like this when I started with him (was going at 80s odd until Junior Rioli cleaned him up) but yeh, good call (even though he's been a burnman).

He’s been an absolute rollercoaster for me. Round 1 was happy with a ton. Round 2 got 70 and was contemplating trading. Rounds 3-5 I was hoping to get rid of him but there was more important things I had to do. Then he had that concussion in round 8 and copped an 18 (thanks Rioli) and I was pretty set on trading him, but then news came out that Parish was out for a month, so had to trade him instead. Then he went 122 and 130 and thought it was just 2 spike scores and he’d go back to 80’s, but no, he actually kept it up. Then he had a poor game (78), a good start against Adelaide (60-odd point first half) before getting injured. Thought the knee might be season-ending requiring a trade. Turns out he’s ok. 120-odd at 3QT this week, then he does his quad. Hoped it was a 2-3 weeker and could keep him over that spud Titch, but now, after all of that, I’m trading him. o_O

I did trade him out after the concussion, was a mistake in hindsight. Was freed up after he came back, not as accountable. Really annoying

Hewett will be a jet, dual sided explosive mid who knows where the sticks are, a guy I think on pure talent goes top 5 just not as much production as a few that went ahead of him, also just hasn't played a great deal of footy and is now playing for possibly the worst side of the last 20 years.
 
I think H Sheezel must be a lock ? in everybody's starting teams next year. He can score like a premium with a sub-premium price tag. He's likely to improve in his second year.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't know that Sheezel's price would change next year. I thought that his end-of-year price would be his 2024 price. I don't know how pricing works, sorry. He may then not be a good pick. Sorry.

Could be very similar to Daicos (who has obviously been a good pick this year) in that regard. We may just need Sheezel to keep his role at half back/to move into the midfield successfully.

@Shaunpro1, wow! That's quite an assessment. Do you have a player in mind whom he could be like if he reaches his potential?

Excluding Daicos where normal rules don’t really apply it is highly unusual for a rookie to be a good pick in their second year. Sheezel will be priced according to his 2023 average (~$500k) and would need to improve considerably to be a good pick. As a North supporter I hope that happens but I doubt it will.
