The thing I find interesting about the Neser situation is that Murphy is managing a shoulder issue yet he is playing the PM XI game.

What if the Goat goes down again and Murphy isn't right to play ?

Who is next ?

Agar (injured) , Kuhnemann hasn't played a Shield game all season so does that leave Swepson or Rocchiccioli ?

Don’t think this scenario is remotely likely to play out but if it does then surely Zampa would be a decent option.

So all cricket in australia is currently free to air ?
No, mainly just the local test matches and about 2/3 the BBL matches are free. Possibly Ashes test matches in England too, I believe they were on free to air. I am pretty sure a lot of the one day / T20 international matches that are held in Australia aren't even shown on free to air now. All state cricket is pay to watch now, it used to be free to air up to around the early 2000's. We don't really get much at all.

It's been chipped away at over the years - we used to get every game featuring Australia in Australia as well as the one-day domestic tournament in the days before T20. Nowadays it's every Test and the (large) majority of BBL games but that's about it.

The reason it annoys me so much is we have laws that are literally designed to prevent this from happening. There's a record known as the anti-siphoning list and any event on that list is required to have a FTA network have first dibs. Of course now there's so much money in sports broadcasting that FTA networks don't have that kind of money, so in most cases the rights are split between an FTA and pay TV partner to put up the money but also meet the requirements of the law. As an example, technically every game in the AFL season is on the anti-siphoning list, but we typically only get four games a round and Foxtel pays for the rest.

This World Cup deal has no FTA partner at all, though, which is a big problem.
