I traded in Caleb Daniel in round 18 last year for 579k.
He proceeded to score 73, 82, 35, 79, 51, 99 and 73, finishing up the season at 395k.

Don't do it to yourself. Don't let Bevo do it to you.
Looking at that and noticing that Caleb Daniel benefited from stoppage points in 2023 and that Smith is now out is having me rethink whether I go Daniel instead of Flanders at F1.
As mentioned above, largely comes down to which price point you are happy to jump on at. The higher the price, the higher the fall and does he have the ceiling and consistency to match those of a similar value on the same line or on different lines? Could be better suited as an upgrade target.

Ch 7 news just played a clip interviewing Rory Lobb and he stated he could be playing more in the ruck this year in tandem with Tim English. Scored 116 and 15 HO in his last game in 2023 which he talked about. Interesting...
Interesting - especially given Lobb apparently doesn’t want to play ruck. You wouldn’t think he’d talk it up unless it was a planned change.

Is anyone entertaining the notion of employing the services of Izak Rankine this year?
I find him a little bit interesting a prospect, he's been on an upward trend with the scoring, yet he still managed to clunk 4 x 40's into his record last year.
Averaged 82 last season, could he crack into the mid 90's or beyond this season?

He’s certainly one that has my interest along with Owens in that price range. Currently gone Moore over both atm but they have the ceiling that’s for sure

Yeah I like Owens as an improver as well, especially as how he's back up Ruck.
Will you still keep Flanders if he gets stuck on the half fwd flank?

This question may of already been asked so I'm sorry if it has but, who are people thinking will be top 10 miss come seasons end? I think Bont definite top 5 so I'm scared not to start him because he's a lock as VC or C every week. I also have N Daicos & Butters in my side as I think they are both top 10 material. Currently have Andrew Brayshaw as my M4 based on bye set up but unsure if he is top 10 mid? Based on starting team selections taking into account the bye set up I also like Laird, Dawson & Merrett as top 10 plus Petracca who has a bad bye. I've named 7 so your thoughts?

Owens was a great story last year but when I looked at his scoring he did his best when King wasn't playing. When King came back I think he ave something like 15 pts less. Only going on memory on that but not sure if he just naturally ran out of steam and that just happened when King came back or King really did have had an impact. Worth checking.

Personally thinks it’s best to pick up Bont later when he’s cheaper and look for value instead, only takes 1 score for him to drop heavily in price. Started last year with 107, 125, 89 and 122 before going on a heater. Also had off season ankle surgery so even more reason to have a bit of caution

Don't think it's an obvious decline in Owen's scoring when Max got back, here's the data.
Data probably just showcases the inconsistencies in both player's scoring really. Both need more development and experience.
Round 10 King's return, King 70, Owens 42
Round 11 King 71, Owens missed
Round 12 King missed, Owens missed
Round 13 King 72, Owens 116
Round 14 King 56, Owens 65
Round 15 King 12, Owens 80
Round 16 King 76, Owens 102
Round 17 King 1, Owens 48
Rounds 18, 19 and 20 King missed, Owens scored 70, 81 and 64
Round 21 King 44, Owens 61
Round 22 King 95, Owens 81
Round 23 King 114, Owens 68
Round 24 King Missed, Owens scored 53.

I guess if you'd picked him up last season after round 13 for 650k you could've saved some money but you would also have missed out on 13 rounds of Bont scoring, It can be pretty difficult to bring in any uber premo during the season without a great sacrifice.

Bont wasn’t 700k last year though and nearly everyone started him

A lot of planets have to align for this to work out. The timing of the price drop (if it even happens) has to match up with the time you have appropriate cash cows to cull otherwise you are giving up the value you were seeking to save anyway. If the Bont of 2024 is anything like the 2023 version he is not one I want to be betting against.

Furthermore, unlike previous years, there are quite a few in the top pricing bracket that I will be happy to avoid which will make paying up for Bont a bit easier. Hard to see Oliver being relevant, I personally like Trac but suspect there will be plenty unwilling to pay $667k, question marks against all of English, Laird, Merrett, Libba, Dawson, Dunkley, Butters, LDU, Gulden, etc. at their respective prices. I would back Bont to hold his value better than most of those.
