If a Sweet or Naismith type are selected OR & Rd 1 then surely you have to take them and forego the donut R/F. As many have said, you have to trust Jackson being a Top 8 forward in his own right and treat his DPP as an added flex bonus.

If a ruck gets injured early then surely you just sideways to the best player available or cover with Sweet/Naismith if the injury is short term.

Is it as simple as fading guys with the round 2 or 3 bye? At least the round 5/6 bye players can be flipped for a player who's already had their bye.
They don’t even need to be flipped for a player who has already had their bye. In the case of round 5, you could trade them for any player outside of those on the bye or the round 6 bye. In the case of round 6, you could trade them for any player outside of the round 6 bye.

Each player still has a bye to come even if they have already had a bye at the time of trading.

Who are people thinking is the most likely rookie ruckman to play early to have as a cash cow at R3? I think either Conway (not much confidence though on Cats ruck history) or Sweet (if Soldo stinks it up/gets injured early)?

Can't find the old "mid price madness" thread.

Can someone just remind me the upper and lower player price points for this competition please.

How many Freo players do we think is too many?

Serong, Ryan, Brayshaw, Darcy, Jackson and Young all available as premiums.

Fyfe and Chapman showing promise as mid-pricers.

Emmett, Taberner, Worner, Sharp, McDonald and Simpson all potentially relevant as rookies.

I currently have 4 (Serong, Brayshaw, Young, Sharp). You would think as a team they would improve on last season’s finish of 14th. Relatively young side who should only get better as a team and keep getting better at their individual game and capabilities. Obviously they have a great bye (Round 13) but do we set a limit on how many we touch, in particular their premium options?

I think what’s relevant is how many of the players you also have from their opponents across the first phase of the season.
If you have a few players from teams they’re matched up against your exposure is more giving the fixed nature of total points.

I personally don’t love too many from one team because you never know what could happen and it’s hard to unwind that position if it doesn’t pan out, but I think if there is a mix across premiums and rookies it’s manageable because they’ve got different roles/expectations.

What changed for Brayshaw later in the season last year?

I remember early he was pretty ordinary, I had him in RDT and was killing me.

@Chumpion covered most bases and I would treat it like how we would in a single game round for BBL SC (for example). Comes down to your risk appetite in regards to how many premiums from one side but as mentioned above, the best mix would ideally be split between premiums and rookies.

I'd prefer to delay investment and reliance on players from a certain side until later in the season rather than the outset given the portion of the cap tied up with the performance of that side and so we have a greater sample size to hopefully make a more informed decision.

These days with the top rookies being ready made and costing 200kish maybe it's worth revising the price points?
225k + or even 250k+? Just a thought.
The top rookies have been starting 200k plus for years as it is a set formula. No 1 is $207k and that goes back to the Sam Walsh days. I get your point but my vote would be to not increase the top end. It is tough finding a reasonable team but that is half the fun. Just my 2c.

It would make it tougher if I changed the 200K lower limit to say 210K to avoid the top 2 draft picks. I figure it allows maybe two gimme selections each year, but if there was enough interest to change this I could.
